If you are doing lot of driving in highway, fast roads recommend a change, this is also improve the ride comfort, what you can do is keep two sets one for road, other for off road if you are in to that sort of thing. If you don't do much driving it might not make sense to change them.

Just one example, list is endless with Tuk Tuks, buses, including a write off. I have come in to terms with this and changed my mind the treat the car as an object / tools to get things done it takes out lot of stress out of your life.

Nice vehicle off road, be careful on tarmac as traction and cornering is not the best even with off road standards.

There are few reputed car sales that have been there for generations who import good used vehicles. Generally they will have reasonable mileages 20-40K for a two year old car and the prices will not be the cheapest. Good visual and specialist check should identify any accident repairs. Even an accident repair if there are no structural damage and it has been replacements should not be a huge concern as many of the cars on the SL roads are anyway damaged / repaired after they are put on the road here. I had a GP5 some years back which came to SL as grade S (unused), went in to grade 4.5 (as per Jap categorization) within two weeks thanks to a bike fellow, and R within 1st year with complements of another bike.

Why don't you go around there are JDMs and Australian imported in car sales, go to Stafford too you will notice they are all same apart from few features here and there. JDM you will not be able to change the language in the system, you will have to manage with google translate, if your set comes minus SD card you will loose most of the functions in the Navi system (majority of which are anyway useless in SL) If you opt for a slightly used JDM (2018) it will be within your budget, if not you will have to look for extra Rs. 500k or so.

Best option for duty concession permit
kush replied to Vajira Wijayasena's question in Car Buying Information
Does about 10 kmpl in the city, 17-18kmpl on highway, 12kmpl (urban). You will not get anything better unless hybrid or Kei car. 1.2L you only pay Rs. 265K duty above your permit, so all your hard earned money go to the car. -

Actually got a Corolla Sport down about a month back. Interior is far better than the Allion and miles from Axio Refinement is better than both, ride is firmer (which I prefer) due to less suspension travel and 18" 40 series tires. Does not feel like a Jap more like Euro. Only gripe is rear leg and boot space in par with the class below (Vitz) Saloon may have a different setup may be more inclined for comfort and will definitely have more rear leg space and boot space as the wheel base is about 4" more. -

Corolla Sport / CHR (if rear seats are not priority) Qashqai / Eclips Cross (Brand new with agent support) Toyota Rush/ Mitsubishi Expander (lot of room nothing else) Axio Hybrid/ Toyota Yaris Active If you sell the permit @ Rs. 7.6 Mn your options will be endless in the used market -
I took it to Orugodawatte, they were ok and at least listened to my requests like not to wash the engine. (they wiped with a wet cloth to get dust off from the visible areas). What i liked about them is you could see what was going on. Same with Kia but they take ages so I left the car at their care, as it was a Picanto used for the school run and on a 5 year warranty with them did not bother.

If you go to nity pick on how they open the door, close the bonnet, wash the car there is no place in Sri Lanka that will satisfy you. In my case I leave the car if it is agent and check the car at the time of collecting. Usually they inspect the car before taking over (not Stafford) and any damages are noted. If the car is not on warranty, I don't go to the agent I stay with the car and get specific things like oil change, brake check done through a friendly garage or service. Do the washing and vacuum at home. I don't get the point of all this fuss when your car is exposed to three / two wheeler and morons at the parking lot. Most of my dings and scrapes happened when the car was parked.

Comments on CIVIC 1.0L Turbo Hatch (Fuel consumption in SL roads..etc)
kush replied to Nilusha_1's question in Car Buying Information
Engine capacity/ compression/ Octane rating/ power out put/ turbo / naturally aspirated will only have partial dependency on the fuel requirement. It is the sate of tune of the engine by the manufacturer, you have to go by their commendation. Even a 2.0 L naturally aspirated engine may need 95 octane based on the state of tune. -
You should be able to get a decent Corolla 141, there are ones with less than 100K with proper service records

I have a Wagon R which is used for the school run. It is a different vehicle to Vitz and does feel like a tin box compared to Vitz.V If this is going to be your only vehicle you will be better off with the Vitz as it rides better, handles better, has the bigger car feel. What will be lacking will be features like climate control, autonomous safety features, stop start etc.. Wagon R does not feel that is made to last..
-
Only Vitz will tick most of your requirements par from fuel consumption Vitz will be basic in features where as the Stingray will have all the bells and whistles
-
If there is a height difference L and R it could be more than shocks, and definitely explain the handling issue. With the mileage your upper mounts may need replacing too. Best is to dismantle and check. Check the height of the springs too you could compare L & R side by side which gives you a general idea.

DSG will not give immediate issues it took few years to surface them in Honda. It will also depend on your driving conditions. Stop starts and crawling are the killers. There are useful tips on how to drive DSG on the web.

There are few mint maintained throughout with agents with no expenses spared (owned by Jem merchants) i don't think they will sell. Has seen a GSR Turbo ages ago Most of the ones for sale are molested Try Rathnapura/ Kurunegala car sale places

With that wheel base and 140mm it will kiss the ground more often. It will be a night mare to drive, issue with most cars with long wheel bases. Remember BMW 5 series (F10) had the same issue. The price fro the permit is very high for the accord. For same money you could get a C-class or a Audi A5 which has more features.
-
I don't see any features which is not standard in a Wagon R these days apart from dual zone for the climate and leather electric seats. Any way it is not a grey import intended for some other market they should be able to give proper support as always.

Oops i was referring to the Civic Hatch and Saloon, power figures from Honda Japan official site, compared with official sites from UK and Thailand
-
Out of curiosity did some research on why the JDM Hatch has more power and is expensive than the Saloon. Hatch engine power identical with UK spec Saloon with the Thailand model, Thailand does not produce the Hatch as it is not popular in this region. May be Hatch is UK built and the Saloon Thailand. May be iRage will be able to shed some light in to this
