  1. You mean like an Alfa 4C?
  2. Two colours. The metallic grey was achieved by alternate coats of black and silver. All graphics are paint, done using paint masks.
  3. This was my final proper scratch build, back in 2009. A frakenstein monster of parts from various Traxxas models, all so that i could properly fit the 1/8 scale body onto it. Back then proline didn't make the 1/10 version so we had to make do with what we had.
  4. The engine has only one belt for everything, so obviously it's more expensive. Edit: Power steering is on a second belt. Just checked service history of the Vios.
  5. The average speed is bogus. On my regular run to Gelanigama, a friend checked the average speed, and it was 68km/h. I got there in 8 minutes.
  6. There's an active discussion on this topic http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/17442-high-pressure-car-washer/page-4#entry294173
  7. I loved PallMall Menthols (which those are). Pity they stopped producing them here.
  8. Walking along Galle Face around 8:15ish, saw the tail of what looked like an A45 AMG Edition 1, white with a red spoiler, moving rapidly towards Colpetty. Could not discern any exhaust noise though. Can anyone confirm?

Issue 6 of Torque & Throttle Digital is around the corner, where we'll be shining the spotlight on some of the greatest pocket rockets built! Oh, and our cover star just happens to be the most powerful production hatchback ever produced, packing an insane 355 BHP!.... Don't forget to watch in HD! #CelebrateCarCulture

nais. but that one does not have a rear spoiler. perhaps it's a recent addition?

  9. Back to whoring. Remember when PRNDL was PRNDL? The spring loaded shifter and separate Park button was a major contributing factor towards my purchase of the Hybrid Corolla. If I owned one of these, I would've probably met with the same fate by now. http://jalopnik.com/heres-the-problem-with-jeeps-recalled-gear-shifter-1782364420
  10. Front shocks are usually slow to rebound because the spring rates are higher due to the fact that most cars have the engine hanging over or slightly ahead of the wheels. I notice this in my Axio, where the front rebound is almost non-existent whereas the rear bounces once before settling.
  11. One could do the same with a set of Maxxis tires. The Veyron wheels and tires, now that's all about the engineering.
  12. Do you know him personally, to make that statement? I'm the one who outed presealover, not because I wanted to humiliate him or have people call him names, but to make everyone aware that we are being watched, and social media is no longer a joke most Sri Lankans thought it would be, but rather it's become a powerful tool to create awareness and compel people to act. In that regard, SLTV is rapidly gaining traction, so you might be next if you don't follow traffic laws.

Today there were 7 police officers and 2 police jeeps monitoring the traffic in that same location where it was shown in the video.

They were doing nothing, they were just talking with each other and not paying attention to the road...

  13. Do not scratch the pads on the PCB. Instead look at the black pad on the switch, it's probably worn out. The easiest thing to do (and i've done this for similar issues) is to use the black pad from a broken remote control.
  14. 31k premium @ SLIC for 1.1 mil. wtf? Put it on 3rd party instead.

I was quoted 33k premium for 1.3mil, but one representative said its possible to reduce it up to 25k.

      1993 Starlet, yes.

@vengeance what are the clauses we have to avoid in order to bring it down to 25k?

nothing! The bugger gave me his business card and asked me to call him personally. he said he can talk with the management and reduce it without compromising anything. He must be getting some commision of some sort. I wasn't interested though, so went with 3rd party.

  15. Are you sure they didn't buy the technology? They still make the Rover 75 clone. The MG 260 ZT (which is based on the Rover 75) owners group have done at least one group buy of the chinese version's tail lights because they look better than the stock ones.
  16. All this time I thought EX was a trim level. Now things make a lot more sense.
  17. Are you sure this is the facelift? These are already in SL. I've seen a few white ones with the LED rear cluster of the car in grey.
  18. Okay so..dilemma. I'm of average height, yet I push the driver's seat all the way back because I rarely move my legs while driving, just my feet. To this end, the Starlet is more cramped, and the seat doesn't move far enough. What can I do about this? Mount shims on the seat rails and attach the seat to these with the required offset?

      Davy

You can try installing a new set of seat rails. Rails that are slightly longer than the ones on the car. You might be able to swap your one with a used one from an upholstering place or even one of those used seat places around Delkanda.

  19. Beige interior is a fkn headache to maintain. If given the choice, always go for black, or better, grey.
  20. 1993 Starlet pulopsun. Has seen better days, planning on giving it some TLC in the coming months. Taking it to the mechanic tomorrow to give it the once over.

@asrock it was too expensive for what it was.

@matroska bought it from a close friend of my dad's, so price includes friends and family discount.

Solid choice. Is it an EP8x series?

      GT Conversion FTW!

Yes it is! I was thinking the same thing too, a tasteful 4efte conversion once I've sorted out the niggles.

  22. Was not aware that hand tractors are allowed on any kind of license. Must be a 'govijanathawa' thing
  23. In the UK, there's a secondary test (and certification) for towing. Does that exist in Sri Lanka?
