  1. Well I just spent the last two days running around in the southern and sabaragamuwa provinces in general, and I did not see a _single_ hybrid car out there. In fact, I made a remark about it to the padre on the drive back not one hour ago. So 1 out of 10 cars in Colombo maybe hybrids, but not anywhere beyond the outskirts. The same for the area around the city of gems as well.
  2. I drove a manual diesel Townace till 2 months ago, and I must say my feet never got tired the way my right foot does now in my auto Vios
  3. Does needle move erratically (not considering minor fluctuations from the vehicle's motion), or is it completely dead? If it's dead, check the fuse.
  4. My sarcasm is quite subtle. I merely figured out what the car was and checked in Google Images, failing which I browsed a few regular sites, one of which is the site where you got that photo from. Edit: I forfeit my turn btw.
  5. @nexus I'm using a metaheuristic based algorithm to compare images on a pixel-by-pixel basis against the entire Google Images cache.
  6. Do we lump in the Toyota SAI, Harrier and Crown Hybrid drivers into the same category or what?
  7. <p> Serves your friend right. I too shift into N at traffic lights I'm familiar with, but I always keep a foot on the brake pedal or pull the hand brake if my foot is tired. At long red lights like the LAUGFS u-turn at the north end of the Baseline, I shift into P.Make it a habit to always apply some kind of inhibitor to the wheels when the car you're driving is stationary on the road. I mean we never leave our cars just in Neutral/N when we park them do we?
  8. Are you sure you didn't initially feel the vibrations through the steering wheel? Vibrations can feel very different between driver and passenger.
  9. nevermind.
  10. Is there a difference in how effective the various colours are? I too need refresh my packs of silicagel (stuff was milky white, now pink).
  11. That car is major sex.
  12. I forfeit my turn.
  13. Normally, the final connection when hooking up two cars will cause a spark. Since lead acid batteries produce hydrogen as a by product when discharging, there might be a chance of the gas igniting, so as a precaution it is stated to make that connection to earth instead of the (-)ve terminal of the battery. I personally have never followed that rule and have hooked up red-red and black-black without any issue, but don't blame me if something explodes when you try it.
  14. Buy a base model 2 door 2000 Vitz, fit a 1NZ-FE and then Turbo it. Plenty of accessories available for it.
  15. She's not a fella according to her profile. Which must also be the reason why the hybrid bashathon hasn't started yet
  16. Does this model have the graphical LCD dashboard? Can you take a few pictures of the various screens and post them here?
  17. I too suggest you try to stretch you rupee towards the 7 figure mark, at which point the next generation of vehicles will be available to you. AE100s and any variation there of (including Sprinters), plus the venerable Doctor sunny, are for the most part excellent examples of 90's Japanese automotive engineering.

    G/psh

g/psh is grams per ps hour, similar to liters/hour or kg/kwh. You can't directly convert it to km/l since two different scales are used for measurement i.e. time vs distance. Most stationary engines and industrial equipment (even the Mercedes Unimog has an engine hours meter) have their fuel efficiency measured in this manner since it makes more sense.
  19. I think they are pretty much the same vehicle. In SL I've come across the Daihatsu Boon which is identical in every way to the Passo.
  20. Do you realize that in reality we only use around 20-30hp for our regular commutes? The numbers you're spewing out are only good when you're close to red lining the engine, which 95% of us will never do. So, whats the point in arguing about who makes the more powerful hybrid, and more to the point, modifying a hybrid? The Honda CR-Z is not a performance car. It's a car which is small enough to make use of engines designed for bigger cars, for better performance while maintaining decent fuel economy, the same the CRX did back in 1984. Maybe if someone put a 1NZ-FE in a Vitz, you'll see the same. Oh wait, Toyota already did. I think they call it the Vitz RS.
  21. IMO, the interior of the Allion is quite nice despite the faux wood, when compared to say the Smart Cab or the Vios wood interiors. I would say stick with the stock panelling.
