  1. It is. Jimny is the successor of the Samurai which is well known for its toughness. Being more curvier, most people don't think it's a serious off-roader. Suzuki hasn't compromised it's off roading capabilities in order to make it tarmac-friendly. Here is a good document about Suzuki's 4x4 history.
  2. Searching Google for 4x4 sri lanka should work!
  3. From time to time, yes. I live in Kotmale so most of the trips around home end up being off-road journeys. And also FWDC events, not races, are another set of opportunities to do some off-roading. But I'm not yet into off-road competitions yet More jimny photos Coming back to the topic at hand, still didn't finish sorting out all the photos from the NE event. And there is the cricket match coming up, so may be later tonight after the match, or tomorrow early morning before I go to work...
  4. Still didn't get time to sort out the photos. Will be able to upload them tonight, both to my personal gallery and to the Four Wheel Drive Club site. We had announced on the Four Wheel Drive Club site that the first day is driven by points, and the second day is a timed run for those who got top points on the first day. It is fortunate that the event didn't have problems with the rain unlike the last year. The obstacles on the second day were not the easiest (see the photos when they are available), but we wanted to avoid winching situations like the first day as it was a timed run. Will make an announcement here when the photos are available.
  5. They are all parked at the "Plantation Hotel" just after Kitulgala town on the way to Ginigathhena from Awissawella.
  6. Photos from the awards ceremony are here. Enjoy!
  7. Does anybody know how much an F355 and an F360 cost when bringing down to SL?
  8. Yep. It is a F355. No idea who the owner is.
  9. I took some shots of a Ferrari parked in front of Trans Asia. The most interesting is the first one of an almost equal coloured Three-wheeler parked next to it. The rest of the photos are in my photo gallery.
  10. Pictures: Pictures:
  11. Hope you saw these. The full set is here.
  12. My pics are here:
  13. As a bachelor with a 4x4 bias, I find my Suzuki Jimny quite practical here in the SL. However, if you are into fast driving, don't even think about it. It's not very stable beyond 100-120 kmph unless the road is really smooth, and the center of gravity is high for fast conering. Having said that, the Jimny handles very well at daytime speeds in Colombo (usually 60-90) with good acceleration. I can't say much about fuel economy with my not-so-uncommon gear upshifts between 4000-5000 RPM.
  14. My photos of the event are here on flickr.
  15. Thanks for the compliment and I'm flattered. But realistically speaking, I don't think my photos at one or two evens here and there can be called "competition" to the great work AutoLanka guys have been doing at every motoring event. Peri and the group, do keep up the good work!
  16. Hi all, Some photos of the Jeep / outdoor event on Sunday at Waters Edge are here in my gallery. Enjoy!
  17. Now the images are grouped to a set here, so viewing them would be even easier. Enjoy!
  18. Almost all the 400+ pictures are there now. Hopefully, I'll be able to find time to rewrite the blog post by today evening. Until that, enjoy my flickr galley...
