Not too sure of the amount of taxes to be paid to be eligible, but it is quite high. The reduction is 25% as Fuzzo said, but the engine cap is 1600cc You have the option of buying a brand new or re con car The car is fully transfereble even though on a permit and you also dont have the bits of red on the licence plate. You are ususally adviced of this concession by the IRD, in writing, and if you choose to accept, you are given 'the Permit' which you then have to hand over to the Car agent / dealer, who will process the purchase, organise LC through your bank etc etc

Oh so true my friend...LOL even at the expense and inconvenience of others.....but then this is what we've come to 'expect' in SL now......sad.
-
Yes mate....you can be charged for having one. So best be careful.
-
So true My aunt ( a doctor incidently ) was the same...took her FB14 to the agents and nowhere else. She was ripped off left right and centre..........woved never to buy a nissan again and I tell everyone possible about this, cause its insane to think of everything that they were supposed to do for the car and didnt.

Yup must admit that parking in confined spaces such as that is a real pain, sometimes even in a car.........But still A double cab can literally take you anywhere......but the shops as it were And yes wise move by you two..........saw that only after I'd posted
-
Machang if its only the parking youre worried about, then make a little effort and get to work a little earlier All the other benefits make that problem minute in my opinion. I'd have gone for one a long while back if the office let me *sigh* Isuru why do you say that?....the 323 is a bloody good car overall. OK I know I'm a bit biased on this but I think there are loads of people who are extremely happy with their 323's. Looks, comfort, fuel efficiency, good maintenance costs etc etc..........plus if you get a 1600 GLX manual its just what Ripper wants I'd say it was better than a ViRS... I must hastily add, that this is just an opinion and I dont want to start anyone off about Hondas.

yup.......awesomeness indeed

Hi Shaammika, I own a Ford Laser (BJ model) It was bought brand new in 2002 (GQ series) and has been used without any major issues since. ( My aunt was the first owner ) The agents for Ford were DPMC but they have now foregone the agency, but do still service and maintain Fords. They are a bit expensive though....but then aren't all agent Overall its a good solid car. Good suspension and handling, and will go for hundreds of thousands of miles if well looked after ( as with any car) 1500cc engine, but pulls decently well. Not as good as my previous car tho (a 1600 Mazda) Loads of interior space, and a boot to match a station wagon...........take it from one who has packed in luggage for two adults and two kids, their toys, plus two strollers and other stuff for trips out of colombo. And the drives out of colombo are quite comfortable. Parts in general are not too hard to find. Recently did up my front suspension and parts were not an issue. Wasnt too expensive either. Shocks in the region of 9800 per peice ( Got a discount from my garage guy tho...Taz quotes 10000 odd per peice ), a stabilizer link at approx 2500 etc. AFAIK you could get a english plate car for about 1.3 to 1.4 mill. Mines a manual...(most brand new lasers are), but the recons are available in auto trans as well. Most of the recons are 1600cc autos. In my opinion, its best to seek out a well used car that has been bought brand new. Dont be in a hurry..........Check history well if avaialble. Beware of ex rentals. ( Unless youre told so upfront and you know what youre buying ) I once checked out a laser for my bro in law, which was an absolute dog to drive.........the car sale guy told me it was a friends car.....the revenue licens copy on the windscreen gave the name of a rental company. And the best part? the milage on the meter was only 40k Anyway all the best machang..........in my opinion you cant go wrong with a ford.....provided you find a car in good nik.
-
Shouldn't you replace the dipstick before running the car in the first place?????????
-
Hi Thilak, There's something def wrong with the tuneup if you have to accelerate to get the car moving. Maybe the idle speed needs to be upped a bit? There should be a standard level to which it is set right? Havent owned an auto to comment too much on it tho. Best get it checked by a professional............ And machang getting 8 - 9 kmpl is pretty good IMHO.........My 1600cc Manual used to give me 9 in the city, so technically the figures youre getting aren't bad at all for an auto.
