go to automiraj @ rathmalana (attidiya rd). there is a mechanic called ranga. he's da expert on carbs. he did a decent job on mine. very impressed! ive gone to carb banda as well. but this ranga is a mitsu specialist, so he knows what he's messin wit.

hi guys, recently my lancer's radiator top tank started leaking and i went to CT Li* to get it replaced. since the radiator core did not have any major blocking, i asked the guy to check the thermostat value. he found it faulty (see the scratched bit) and said it was blocking the water flow and was the culprit for damaging the tank. his advice was either to put a genuine thermostat value or simply to get rid of it completely he said if i remove it, the water will flow freely and the engine will be cooled even better. then i asked why on earth it is there in the first place and he said its meant to function in colder countries and here its useless. after checking the price from the agents, i also decided its useless (well atleast till i collect some money to buy it) so since then i am running without the damn thing and the only difference i noticed was now the radiator fan takes longer to turn itself on. (so now the engine actually being cooled better???) my worry is whether i am ruining my engine, radiator or any other part due to this maka baas mod? please help... ~ elnino.

is that the same cataloy putty kinda material we use here for the mods?

hi machan, what is the place you got the top tank from? also what kind of tool u used to remove it? a normal plier would do? i checked from radiator house. they quoted me 11k for a top tank replacement. ct lionel quoted only 8k. didnt ask whether i can buy only the plastic part though... btw da car is a lancer cs1

went matara in my friend's car last friday night and he got stopped at somewhere near aluthgama. time was around 11:30pm, only few vehicles on the road and my friend didnt even see the cop pointing the damn thing and it was me who saw it and asked him to stop. when we walked back to him, he showed us the gun reading 75 and started preaching about some bs law says this at that sentence . anyhow after checking the license he kinda misidentified my friend as somebody he knew and he went cool. then we asked about the speed law and what he said was even though they cant catch u for speeding, they can for reckless driving if u r doing over the max limit in sri lanka. we didnt argue back on how he can be sure whether his gun is correct and whether it actually read our car's speed. (cos we were doing nearly 90 ) so at the end we got back without getting ripped. didnt see any other cops on the road after that. imo we could have easily skipped the incident at that time and at that speed, pretending we didnt see him waving. btw i got an idea to rewire the rear number plate lights on my car so that i can turn it off separately in such an incident and escape. (hoping the bugger wont ) safe cruising on 14th!

is it bad for the car if you just start n drive up in the mornings before engine settles in its normal idle speed? or its better to wait until it heats up (until idle goes down)? i have experienced a bit of knocking when i drive straightaway without waiting... do i need a tune up? btw the car is a lancer cs1 (carb model).

how much did it cost u? i bought a very portable digital tire pressure guage over suntel wow classifieds. it cost me 1.5k but its steady & easy to use.

umm thats new! i thot cs1's with efi ARE cedias! i believed gdi is da name they call 4 their efi technology

machan i dunno da exact km per liter figures for a EFI model. but what ive heard of is GDI engines expect atleast 98 octane gasoline; but since we only find 95 here, they do not perform efficiently. so the consumption drops that of a carb model. anyway i dont think it will go below 8km/l. cheers, ELNINO.

sharing my experices... Is it a Low maintenance car? Is the maintenance cost high? yes. i only had to change ordinary stuff like wiper blades, fuses, bulbs, etc. had no major issues until da timing belt broke! well that wasnt due to a fault in the car. it was pure bad luck & due to erronous past records i got from da prev owner. make sure you replace da t-belt no matter how new it is if u happen to buy da car. Hw is the availability of spare parts? body parts are available in wijerama n places but its hard to find engine related parts. i guess da reason is it being a brand-new model. if u happen to go for a cedia, things would be better i suppose. (but then again ive heard cedia is not that good on fuel compared to the carb model) Hw is the ride comfort and driving experience of CS1? Hw much does it do on fuel? driving experince is really nice and ride comfort is decent. changed tires from 14R to 15R n still its good. on fuel, still it does 10km/l in town with ac on. (did a carb tune-up though) What are my other options for a manual car for around Rs. 1.5Mil? i think ford laser, mazda 323 are around that range. anyway u can always chkout autolanka.com for that Regards, ELNINO.

aiyo machan i didnt see ur reply yesterday i searched in panchikawatta again n finally able to find da head gasket kit and the valve seals. exhaust/inlet valve quest was in vain - had no more options so i had to go to the agents thanks for offering to help machan. i need the car by this weekend that y i cudnt wait any longer here are the places i bought stuff from: timing belt - supreme motor house, wiejrama timing wheel - krishan motors @ watta, panchikawatta (second hand) adjuster - s.p. auto enterprises, panchikawatta water pump - pubudu motors, rathmalana head gasket kit & valve seals - ranasinghe motors, panchikawatta exhaust/inlet valves & plugs - agents this is just for the benifit of anyone who is looking for engine parts for a 4G13. hope its not against the rules.

thx for da contact machan. i called him, but he seem to be dealing only second hand parts. btw can i use second hand values? he has stuff for cedia. but my thingie is a brand new model. every part seem to differ slightly and hence impossible to find chked da prices at agents. going singapore n bringing down parts by myself is cheaper!

Im doing an engine repair due to a timing belt breakage on my lancer cs1a 2002 which has a 4g13 16v sohc. Im finding it hard to find the needed parts such as head gasket, exhaust/inlet values, etc. Anybody has experience buying lancer 4G13 engine parts? I searched in wijerama, panchikawatta and even in ebay! The damn agents have it but who can tolerate their figures? Another thing. my baas is saying values can be realigned and put again since they are only bent slightly. Is this a normal practice? Also i heard you can cut gaskets locally. But my one is a metal. What are my options?

hi guys, i ran into this problem suddenly. wiper motor stopped working. i thot some fuse was blown. but not sure whether there is one for it. checked da ones under da bonnet but no luck. yet to check da ones down da steering. my car is a lancer 2002 cs1 (cedia type). any ideas?
