  1. ? Is it a sustainability initiative of some sort?
  2. @thusharak340 could you please tell us what your car is (Make, model, year of manufacture) , what type of roads you drive on and how many km's you drive per month? Any highway running? Also do you have a budget in mind?
  3. @matroskawhat causes the oil burn on the GP1? What exactly is the mandated remedy for the situation?
  4. @Jason_Bourne try Srikantha Motors Lanka - Pvt Ltd 243, Panchikawatte Road, Colombo 10, Sri Lanka. Telephone:094 0112388935-6, Fax : 094 0112439585
  5. @Kavvz there was even a Sera with a turbo! @Octanehead did a feature years ago https://octaneheads.blogspot.com/2012/04/space-shuttle.html
  6. Any reason A*W isn't offering these batteries like Toyota Lanka does even for the grey market imports, at a cost?
  7. Periodic CVT oil change with the right spec oil (ideally long before - 40,000 kms @iRage?) before the manufacturer mandated gearbox servicing intervals ?
  8. @vitz do they not know what they are doing or is it just that they are really busy given the sheer volume of cars they've sold over the years on permits etc?
  9. @Ratnayake there was another thread where Cefiro owners had weighed in on this It's a very comfortable car but second hand information puts fuel economy roughly in the 6-8 kmpl category depending on conditions
  10. All of these cars would have done astronomical mileage by now so keep a margin for engine rebuilds and other maintenance which may detract drastically from the economy you're seeking to achieve in terms of a low fuel cost Also perhaps add the Mitsubishi Galant diesel to the list The Corona Premio flet a little more refined than the others on that list Keep in mind also that many of the Bluebird diesels were brought in on permits for tour operators so those cars (which sound like tractors!) have run and run!
  11. The Mahindra Bolero is to Sri Lanka's Defender/Wrangler owner wannabes what the Pontiac Fiero was to American car modifying scene of the 80-90's ???‍♂️
  12. @speed8 at least 2 Cappuccino's @esdeez drove one for a Top Gear Sri Lanka feature I believe
  13. @CricDasher once i used Trico and shipped it via the US as I had some other cargo. The second time I can't recall but possibly ARAMEX as I sometimes use their Shop&Ship service as well Aramex can handle the customs clearance for you but be warned duty can sometimes be absurd! If you ship via EMS or any postal based courier then you need to clear it yourself at the main post office on DR Wijewardene Mawatha
  14. Depends entirely on the car, and how it has been used as well as maintained @rathnayake I have used cars with over 200,000 mileage but where the owners have used good quality engine oil and done the services on time (with records!) - i faced no engine issues You can get a compression test done before purchase just to be sure - if the engine is under-compressed you will need to budget for rebuild, or at least new piston rings & gasket if the rest is fine The Cefiro is a comfortable car but fuel has always been an issue - given that you live up country it will be nice to have the pulling power of the 2 litre engine but the fact that it's an automatic will hurt economy Most of the Bluebirds around are the 1.8L petrols but with manual gearboxes. The Bluebird Le Grand diesels were used for tourism and brough on permits initially so would have clocked up high mileage by now. Those were very economical but noisy. The Primera on second thought lets drop because fuel efficiency isn't it's strenght - 1.8L & 2L SR engines were nice to drive but will return less than 10 kmpl
  15. @CricDasher i've bought from these guys before but be mindful of shipping & customs clearance delays thanks to COVID and local import duty https://partsouq.com/search/search?q=63491B4010&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_ez2BRCyARIsAJfg-kt_W789Pu0XVWK1T5Pp4qrkQ-dnkSwrjpO8dm-aeOYrChviW05zLTUaAhzxEALw_wcB
  16. @shansilva there you go - another professional in the house! @Joseph Ayesh is the local representative for Chemical Guys - he's handled some very fancy rides in town ?
  17. AZ-1's i don't think @Kavvz but we had two X-90's! @Gummybr remeber the red one which I think BP De Silva owned near Thunmulla on Havelock Road There was another which came up for sale some months back - i forget where but recall seeing it and had a moment of what on earth lol
  18. Isn't there an RS grade somewhere in there as well??
  19. @rathnayake our resident Peugeot expert is @harshansenadhir Given the age of the car and how most uncared for uncommon cars in that price bracket end up I would personally avoid any European car as @AVANTE mentioned How about a Mitsubishi Lancer CK or a Nissan Bluebird or Primera? I know fuel efficiency is important but don't make your decision purely on that because picking the wrong car (i.e an unreliable one or one which is costly to maintain or repair) will eat into any fuel savings thus leaving you at a net loss Given that most cars in your budget will be nearly 20-25 years old with over 200,000 kms on the clock (in reality irrespective of what the odometers may been clocked down to!) i think you should leave more than 100,000 as a repair budget. General maintenance like a battery, tires, filters or normal wear and tear items like suspension bushes, shock absorbers or big ticket items like a timing belt, clutch, AC compressor etc will all add up so do consider leaving a bigger margin for repairs.
  20. @S.Rajitha how much do the Aqua do in reality on fuel kmpl wise in bad Colombo traffic & on the highway?
  21. @Ziya this is for your emergency automatic braking system?
  22. Yup Charith & Oshan are good ? Even a place like Doctor Auto will do the needful - they carry most of the brands @iRage mentioned but you need to tell them what you want and the prices will vary marginally accordingly
  23. Interesting question There are cars like the Alfa Romeo 156 & the Mitsubishi EVO X which came with off centre number place mounting points for the front and plenty of SUV's with non centered plates for the rear The colours and the size of the font (to ensure its legible even at a distance) is what they're most fussed about I belive Front - White background, black letters Rear - Yellow background, black letters
  24. I don't think we have any N Series cars here @Kavvz Fairly certain the agent didn't import any and it's a little too obscure for anyone to have imported privately either AFAIK Shame because apparently even Korean tuning scene is taking off so given the Sri Lankan expat presence in South Korea one would think there might be an opportunity for something to materialise but perhaps the LHD factor gets in the way of that
  25. Try Janaka in Rajagiriya - 0779427178
