  1. We have 2 specimen here for sure Both silver A famous cricketer owned a different body style in black @Kavvz
  2. Take one more guess @Kavvz you're VERY close
  3. Nyet @Kavvz
  4. @Kavvz very close but no cigar! @AVANTE here's your chance to improve on your guess
  5. @Shan1234567 get an independent party like the Agent or CarChecks or similar to inspect the vehicle prior to purchase. A test drive in the hands of someone who knows his cars will also bring to light any issues that may not come up in a stationary inspection
  6. They had the 3M window film as well right ?
  7. Didn't most GDI's have the same issues with the fuel pump as well as problems running low octane fuel locally? The V6 was sold brand new by the agent Unit#d Mot#rs locally. Unit#d Mot#rs didn't sell any GDI versions of the JDM/Japanese reconditioned models locally. Lancer (JDM Cedia was GDI) Montero IO 2L non GDI (Pajero IO was a 1.8L GDI & turbo variant as well) Montero 3L V6 & 3.8L V6 non GDI (Pajero petrols were GDI) I'm not sure if the Magna & Verada were the exception but even those were Australian market versions
  8. Cheaper doesn't mean better or correct even Whenever you replace a with used parts you are doing so without knowing the usage prior to your purchase. Although cosmetically things may seem fine there is no guarantee to say that it has been used less than what you have taken off your own car or is in a better state. Also things like brake pads - those are wear items. Why would you replace them with 2nd hand parts? Also how do you know for certain that they are genuine? Even CV's wear and brake so this sounds like some misguided replacement of unnecessary parts using unsuitable components chasing false economy. I'm sorry if i sound harsh @HesHDH but I just feel as though all these various technicians have taken advantage of you
  9. @Kavvz it's that whole halo effect! I too ran Brembo's a while back and was very disappointed. People assume that Brembo's make everything better but like you said the caliper set up adds so much value and they also supply basic products as an entry level alternative to an aftermarket pad which I personally felt was lacking. These were made somewhere in eastern europe.
  10. @Kavvz in worrying news their parent company might be in trouble https://news.bloomberglaw.com/bankruptcy-law/apc-automotive-gets-access-to-30-million-in-bankruptcy-funds Also with regard to K&N, be mindful of the oil seeping through and fouling the airflow sensor but it only applies to the old filament type sensors
  11. @GK_007 the new Mazda 3
  12. @HesHDH a lot of this doesn't add up changing axles sounds extreme right @iRage - if it was bent (agin unusual) it won't have an impact only at a particular speed it should affect every rotation logically wouldn't it?! I'm not a proponent of used moving parts - the hubs could perhaps have been salvaged with new bearings, grease & seals Again unless your shake came when you got on the brakes i don't see how that has a direct bearing if it's only at a particular speed Have you got your wheel alignment done? Any idea if this car has been in a bad crash per chance? Gearbox change sounds like massive overkill - the mounts would have been the first thing i'd have looked at (gearbox & engine - genuine brand new replacements not this "boru" "reconditioned used" - no such thing when it comes to old rubber parts!!) Who are the mechanics you visited regarding this??
  13. @Eagle Eye I agree with you fully about not cutting corners with the brakes - in fact it's the first thing anyone interesting upgrading or "modifying" their car should look at IMO! That said, the price is eye watering I'm with @iRage on this and have discussed this on another thread as well - stock brakes from manufacturers are meant to be decent all-rounders so there are compromises made in terms of bite, feel, grip/friction, longevity, volume, dust level etc etc If you're a keen driver, chances are you will notice the subtleties of how the brakes feel. The way to not get shafted for future reference is to go for a reputed high end aftermarket brand . Some can be bought here as @GWX777 rightly mentioned with Brembo available at Semini Motors & Dixcel through @Abbas J or alternatively look at simply ordering online. I'm a fan of STOPTECH personally - wear is heavy on the pad & disk but if you are an aggressive driver its a price well worth paying
  14. @Vikum Samarasinghe is one of the biggest, oldest and most reputed automobile related companies in the country! They have the agency for Mercedes Benz, Jeep, Chrysler, Tata, Bosch, Michelin, BF Goodrich, Kumho, Osram, Blaupunkt..... the list is long! https://www.dimolanka.com/vehicle-repairs/ Their expertise when it comes to diesel related repairs (pumps, engine overhauls, injector pressurising etc etc) is entwined in their very name "Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC" https://www.dimolanka.com/vehicle-repairs/engine-care/
  15. @iRage i don't think even @milindu 's fleet has cost per km calculations as elaborate as @gayanath's (but i disagree about the air filter life span!? The undercarriage wash is another thing but i'm guessing lubrication & rust protection work differently with new Japanese cars than it would with old British ones?)
  16. @gayanath very informative - i applaud your meticulous record keeping ?
  17. Well done @Crosswind I actually know the car itself and it's initial owners!??‍♂️
  18. @K.o.N.o.Sthat was pre-curfew or may have been last year even? I've got multiple sets of that horn but can't remember if i bought both online?
  19. Not Bawa, but another great local architect & motoring enthusiast - @MasterDon you must be proud i'm sure ?
  20. Yes, Suzuki engine parts ok @AVANTE?
  21. 660cc @vag2 so very many kmpl??
  22. Tall poppy syndrome? ?
  23. @Vikum Samarasinghe D*MO should be able to help set your pump & injectors - those are good parts to work on when trying to eke out performance gains on an old diesel When you say improve performance, is there anything specifically lacking? Unless there are specific points you are trying to address making changes to the components you have mentioned will not make your car faster if that's what you're looking to improve when you say 'performance' I know it's your car and not ours but it's so nice to see an original looking car Playing dress up is going to detract from the value of your car Also don't forget, adding a body kit means adding weight which in turn will only slow your car down
