  1. Great write up Machan. Very useful indeed. Thanks for sharing
  2. I’m not going to defend Mazna here; at the same time I do understand that there can be various scenarios where some would feel cheated. When it comes to parts, yes there can be variances ….. for e.g I would be needing to replace my AC compressor in another 6 /8 months so I inquired about the price of one. There are 3 engine blocks (1.5CC VVT ) at his place, the average cost of compressor is apx 8-9500/- However there is a engine that has done 20K whilst the other have one over 80K thus if I want the compressor from the engine black that has done 20K, he would ask apx 13- 15K and not the above low price. Therefore there can be situations that some second hand parts can be more expensive in his place compared to another. The other would be on generic parts where you have the genuine OEM part and Malaysian /Taiwan stuff… There too you would find a big difference as there are several variations even amongst the duplicate – (Good duplicates & really crappy ones) In my previous car had a issue with a rear link which went bad within a short period but he replaced it FOC as the supplier was not good. Some advise : If you need to do a service/ major repair on a Saturday visit the place as early as possible ( not really early say 8.30 am) If you need to do a repair job on a weekends, see if you can do it towards Wednesday/ Thursday as Monday is a holiday, Tuesday generally gets blocked. Hope it helps …… anyway cannot blame for looking around for an alternative solution – after all cars do come with a spare wheel for a reason , hence same should apply
  3. Very true Sha& and what a pitty it is with CM Let me have a chat with Mazna and explain the situ. I too have raised this to him … Will be meeting him during this weekend and be having a chat about it. Anyone needs help with Mazda PM me and I’ll see if I can pitch in and help in any way
  4. Ya :-D trying really hard to control myself but with the number of twits on the road it’s getting harder. Anyway need to control myself as junior now joins in and he picks up words fast :-)
  5. Ohhhhhhh dam …… Had a similar situ but the bad was from my side …. I generally shout (Some times with the shutter down) at idiots who drive stupid….. 1 time shouted at a guy and he happened to be a person who know me….. no end of my wife shunning me as I has to change my tone ….
  6. This is a big issue here- there are countless days where I’ve blown my top off because of idiots who can not part and just don’t give a dame about others. Lanes – lets not even get there……… I really don’t see the need to have lines (White /yellow or any other color) marks on the road as our people have no clue….. might as well save that money to build another stretch of road. All this has to be blamed on the issuing of driving licenses- even the amount of accidents reported on news are mainly due to negligence or pure down right stupidity. Drunk driving related ones are way behind. Simply because there’s no proper process of getting a license …. A few green notes here & and there ---- is all it takes
  7. Had a 1997 Wing road, and we used Shell -DX III . Pls take full precautions as this is the critical part in a Auto Tranny. Mazda’s have the oil type given on the dipstick (M-V) don’t know if it applies to Nissan cars as well. A can of 4 L should cost around 4 or 5000/- depending on the type …. Better get some expert opinions on the same .
  8. Adding to what VVTI said & agreeing with the same ….. A good Interplay is had to come buy, most are literally raped ……Markt value should be between 600K & 900K at the current levels. There were a few all disk cars around which would be the best option Take care – as there are Goofs selling the CARB engine with Interplay stickers…… Interplay is always with DOCH engine and a 1.5CC Also see if there is corrosion around the wheel arches- this is a common scenario if not looked after. Get it inspected from a qualified garage as spares are becoming hard to find both locally & internationally (Japan & Malaysia) I did see a hatch back on A/L a few days back Good luck -
  9. ++ 2 on this advice Went to see a manual black Lancer – some where in Thatlawatrhugoda - a so called “doctor owned” The spoiler had a paint job done using a toothbrush me think, centre console panel had parts work out – with the vents broken etc… the list goes on I was expecting low asking price but that was worse than the spoiler
  10. All the way to the way way past the 1/2 mark.... kept filling in water every now & then till I could manage to get home
  11. Had a Excide in my previous car and the dam thing went bust 1 year and 1 month from date of purchase. Warranty was for 1 year. This was despite me checking the water levels on a regular basis. Got a Lucas 2 year warranty maintenance free battery recently - so far so good. cost was somthing like 7000/- returning my old one One advice is – make sure you take the book that they given and get it checked regularly as the agents tend to make a fuss if something happens during the period.
  12. I’ve also experienced the same many times with my Mazda , the other culprit for the cause is a busted fan. I don’t thing there would be a serious issue as you stopped and did the precautions but monitor the water levels ( Coolent) Like advised by JD.
  13. Saw Black & Decker advertise one - Browns are the agents - just check them out. Not too sure on the price though 90 bar is good enough ......
  14. Check with Taiyo & US motors in Mt. Lavina & Dehiwala Hill street respectively Airflow meter ? - Are you referring to the airflow sensor
  15. Don’t exactly have the user manual but can share a parts/service manual – drop me a PM , next is to login to some Mazda Sites for some info
  16. Sorry I don’t have a contact number but you know the place where they sell used books just as you pass St. Joseph college ? Try those places as I did a repair from them

  18. Nilwala Motors - 162 Madiwala Road, Udahamulla - 2834190
  19. Totally agree with Shai & KumaraS . Both brands have the same engine spec, hence the fuel would not bee too different. I too prefer the Ford looks against the Mazda. With a 1.6CC you should get above 9 per L if you drive sensibly, I use to get 8.5 driving like a mad hatter. 1.6Mil for a 2000 1.3cc is dam to much - but ok for a 1.5CC. DO you want to go for a Auto or a manual ?
  20. Assuming as this was said in the initial phaze.....
  21. My garage guys said to use Soltron as well and it may help. But I guess using 95 + soltron would not hurt this time . Any comments ??
  22. Now now ….. Look on the bright side he did change the oil to a racing spec Servo oil After all he’s got JK tyres to go really fast – so I guess they don’t need an engine to make the car go fast… DAAAM this is a joke – local guys modify marutie’s here better that that
  23. I do agree slightly with the point brought up – If you don’t have power steering . Trust me it’s going to be hard, I learned to drive in a non power steering FORD Escort with Balloon tires (My fathers car) no cracking issue for the 6 years we had it. Had a Raid branded Steering (Italian) No trusted place as such but you could try Motor cade, also try Delkanda spare part shops cause you get really good stuff for a decent price.
