  1. You can find the above locally, did the trick between body panels and leaky gaps when the land rover was being restored
  2. A friend told me it was rather under-powered on the hillside (Kanda ta poddak madi) , but in Colombo he manages fine. Hardly scientific but this is typical Sri Lankan output.

On closer look, those are huge double filament t20s probably, those are brake light bulbs, some dweeb must have put em in. Get the right size measured and replace them, with something like this

Theres a lot of sizes the capless variety, Make sure u find the variant to the mm, or else they'll just shatter in your hand while fitting them, learnt by trial and error. Look through these to identify which size it is, T5 etc Also don't buy the type you've linked, they are dim and blow out fast, Get something like this, in the correct size
  5. Looking at your first picture, the first thing that popped to my head was Raja Mawatha, Stretching along the Kandy Badulla road via Meegahakiyula. And you don't need permission, you might meet an elephant or two along the way though, other than that its ideal, mostly sunny too. As for nuwara eliya, you might land on a gloomy day/ foggy, ruining your shoot, but thats the appeal to Nuwara eliya though.
  6. You might have to re-skin the surface, with a similar vinyl, depending the degree of damage and panels affected. Please do search the forum mate, many Locations have been discussed, with results and telephone numbers. For example; http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15984-reupholstering-interior-panels/page-5#entry281994 Also Look at the Project R thread as well. Cheers
  7. Glad to be of assistance, cheers!
  8. Check your head gasket, minature leak in the X-trail showed similar symptoms.
  9. I was referring to this, and the new fortuner, Camry Axio etc, all have this distinctive pointed grille and long boatish rears
  10. It might be clogged with dust, you might have to take it apart and clear the heatsinks manually, If under warranty, try to yank that. Another solution is to use a household blower (max 35W / NOT compressed air) through the fan went so that the dust heap pops out the other side vent, the same way they went in etc. Mind u this method causes the cpu fan to spin the opposite way, i've done this many times with many laptops, there were no complications though, works well if you are lazy.
  11. Not that successful. http://www.techshout.com/hardware/2009/26/belkin-unveils-laptop-cooling-hub-and-cooling-pad-in-india/ Try to find this, gives good results
  12. Whats the deal with the new boat-ish design language toyota has implemented!
  13. Your question is not clear, If you are talking about the Auto function, usually disconnecting/reconnecting the battery works. Or there will be a specific sequence to reset the system, This is usually present in the service manual for your car. For example something like this in my vehicle
  14. Never seen these locally, what I use are plastic rectangular baskets, 2 fit in side by side, and some bungee cords to hold em all together, I Do have these tray hooks oem, to which I attach the bungee cords
  15. Wouldn't that have been a ridiculously slow prado?
  16. The same engine is present from the Hiace to the Prado, obviously they have different power figures, and different power to weight ratios, thus that does not correspond to your logic, Engine output is not just the same as the mere name and cylinder capacity, output is governed by many factors starting from the intake to turbo to engine internals to the diameter of the exhaust, furthermore different ECU maps. Also there was a "high power version" in both the mentioned engines and there was a powerful hilux known as Invincible200 with more BHP, FYI further variations in these engines there was a VN Turbo version, and Intercooled and non intercooled versions Also 1KD is 3000cc and 2KD is 2500cc, different engines in all based on the older 1KZ and the 2L engines so thereby Toyota Lanka's claims cannot be completely ignored, I am not siding with them though The chap who said this was a rather arrogant snob and not willing to explain it by any means, but was adherent to his claim like it was some god sent message.
  17. You should specify the car make/ model/ YOM mate
  18. Yup most Toyota lanka imports were 5L, I've seen many in single cabs and one smart cab. Ideally smart cabs and double cabs in all are more or less purpose oriented vehicles, it would be foolish to buy one for day to day use, impress a neighbor, or merely looks, or just as you said "family use". Since a major portion of the vehicle would be an empty space you just haul around with that bag of groceries rolling all over. It would be equal to jolting around with a travelling bag just to carry your phone inside!
  19. Few years ago I too considered this, when I spoke to Toyota Lanka they adamantly said the power figures are different, however I cannot back this. Yes precisely, the cargo bay is different in size, hence the load / towing capacity. Also most smart cabs I've seen are under L numbers (Heavy vehicle) Most modern Toyotas are assembled in Thailand, Engines were made in the Japan plant. No big faults if well maintained, gotta be careful with the diesel you use. Preferably 4 star / Super, A service with genuine filters and oils get you a sum north of 20,000/- If you pack up a D4d injector you are looking at 75,000/- + PER INJECTOR, unless you find a 5L engine version Not your run of the mill Corolla All in all not a "cheap" vehicle to run, If that's what you are looking for.

    Toyota Hiace

Don't ever "upgrade" to those 21"- 23" rims with low profile tyres, available in the market for roughly 80,000/- with used tyres Looks good but a pothole nightmare, you can count the grain on the road as you move along, suited only for the best tarmac No wonder they go cheap.
  21. Smart Cab Double Cab
  22. You were looking at smart cabs, VS Notice the 2nd line of doors and the B pillar Smart cabs are cheaper, double cabs are costlier
  23. Usually the factory painted bumpers are differently primed and coated, and even different in texture compared to non painted plastic bumpers off cargo models, I'm sure your car had painted bumpers from stock so, if done properly, I don't think there will be a noticeable difference.

Check the manufacturer rated tyre size from the driver side door sill sticker, and since you altered the tyre size do check the psi rating for the tyre on the side wall, personally I feel 35psi is a bit too much, but depends on your loading characteristics as well, Maxxis tyres indeed are a good option in our part of the world
