Dammit, I was hoping the Matara extension would be done in time for the Eliyakanda Hill Climb :/

Awww, thank you As for the photo, well I think it personifies our friendly neighborhood doctor perfectly

Put a go pro on a Formula car that ended up out at the first lap, and didnt have time to retrieve it before the SL-GT event started sadly.

It was quite an improvement. However, as usual, a yellow vest was more effective in moving around than the Media pass itself. Still, things were improved, even the calibre of driving imo, with a few entries rejected for fear of inexperiance. The grid girls should definitely have been out of the way, but compared to the last two years, safety has improved in leaps and bounds! For those who say there should be more events, I think this year was unique in the R*D B*LL Showcar run: The R*D B*LL team where very particular about their timings. For those who work at the track, and even those who race, having a shorter event is a plus in all respects, and it was actually nice to be home, editing pics before sun had risen. It's gonna be hard to top this year's event in terms of the international classes, but I do look forward to it Ravi was O.K, but it was a pretty scary crash, especially as he crashed directly into and destroyed a generator that provided lights to the track. The sandbags and few tyre barriers scattered around aren't good enough for a tight street circuit imo, but hopefully next year we'll see some armco.

I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade, but sadly there will be an event at the kart track on that day, so meeting up and a few laps of the track may be a tad difficult (read impossible). Owing to that I wouldn't be able t make it, buuut, if it is on any other day count me in

The number number of Diesel E46's at Milroy's should tell you to stay away. The same will probably be witnessed with all these 520d's as well. Sad but true. Seems to be a Sri Lanka specific problem, possibly owing to the standards of Diesel we get here. Get a petrol and be safe(er)

Can't wait to see this one. White would definitely be my first choice too. Shall we target the next drags for its maiden voyage?

Well basically the lower member brace takes away the independence of the suspension, the idea is that when you corner it pulls the opposite side down. Makes a big difference for cars with stock suspension, but I'm guessing the gains would have been negligible with coil-overs anyway with the much stiffer spring rates...

Thank goodness! Was caught off guard a few times on the drive down to Katu, what with my car being used as a very fast tripod and all Glad to see the shocks in place. Was quite fun tailing you and laughing with Schiffer every time you go over a bump though I think we'll need to do another shoot with the stance in place though... P.S, i didn't reply to your text coz i'm out of credit

Even my 89' Accord had it! But not my 34

Nope. What it was though, was a one of 10 (yes that's right, ten) special edition Mugen Ariel Atom....

Not according to the CEB website, of course I could be wrong. Eitherway, regular recharging is going to push up the amount of units way past the 187 threshold. Would make sense if you had maybe a solar energy system powering your house/business, or if the recharge point idea takes off in SL. The importers plan to set up fast recharge points "across the island". The feasibility of such is somewhat dubious though. Another interesting read: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/top-gear/8676473/Nissan-hits-back-at-Top-Gear.html

We need a petrol comparison.... S_N suggested the aqua which is cheaper, and apparantly does abt 20kmpl (his words ) Say that does 150 miles EDIT: Kms a day, filled up with 90 octane for 30 days, would cost around 36,450 in petrol... Plus servicing costs that you dont get in the leaf... Hmmm....
-
Need to get the CEB figuares, but a Nissan Leaf's battery capity is about 24 KWh, so lets assume that it'll cost that amount to fully recharge it if you manage to discharge it completely (Although in reality the leaf wont let you completely empty it's battery, nor would you want to get to anywhere near that point). So thats 24 units per day. If you were to recharge every day, say 30 days, that would result in a total power consumption of 720 units. Going on the calculations from the CEB website (http://www.ceb.lk/sub/knowledge/billcalculation.html) that would mean EDIT: My previous calculations were so off the mark it was shameful. Of course thats a) without household electricity needs. At the most it'll cost about an extra Rs. 43K, - 720 * LKR 42 * (1+40%).. Gulp and b ) assuming that you'll be running 150+kms each day. I doubt many do that. So then per km, without factoring in consumables, it would be (at 42 rs per unit) Rs.6.72 per km...

Drove it, and was pleasently suprised. It feels like a car, but just, well so smooth (durrrh). And so eerily quiet, resolved by turning the radio on... Handles like any other small car, i.e competent but not the last word in cornering. Plus comes with a lot of standard kit, like birds eye view parking, and some other neat thingamjigs. There's a lof of space in there too, could easily fit 5 adults in as much comfort as a prii. There's no doubting the car's potential. Its just that, well there is the usual process of separating the marketing bluff from truth. Plus the price is quite steep at 4.2 mil upwards. Any questions ya'll want me to consider before I wrap the article up?

Yes.... Yes you should....

I see someone's left out my tenure with Eva eh? Whilst OctaneHead was globe trotting I was given the privilege of running her around when a air flow meter issue crept up. Despite OH not knowing that his car has an A/C on switch (resulting in me thinking it was broke and sweltering for half a week), I loved the car, and although lacking in power, the car was great fun to drive. The lack of ABS occasional gave me a fright more than once, (sorry Octane ) but always manged to put a smile on my face, whilst making me a little reluctant to hand the keys back... Oh, and that air flow meter problem seemed to disappear after a good thrashing Here's a pic I snapped of her with the family... A potential finacial nightmare captured on film...

There was a pretty tricky chinese driving training game Ihad some time back, can't remember what it was called though. Quite tricky when it came to some tight parking situations... And entertaining

Can I also know some details about said prelude?

Although he did race at Sigiriya, which incidentally will be uploaded shortly. We'll see what happens at Cavalry this weekend.

I have a pic of the E36 taken earlier this year... I'll send it to you privately if you want...

Bought a Genius Driving Force thingy some time back, and regretted it. Was soon back to the keyboard. But recently a friend was selling a Logitec Momo wheel for a decent price, and I thought "what the heck?"... Absolutely love it, great for all kinds of games, although not as relaxing as using the good old keys. Unfortunately haven't been using ot much lately due to the demands of life, but my advice is: Don't cheap out on a wheel. A keyboard is definitely more rewarding than a cheapo steering wheel. How about a used G25 if money is tight?

Whilst we're on the interior - here are some shots of the boot. There are two carpets, as standard the one under this can be used to cover the rear seat backs when folded... And even this neat load cover still works, to hide your shopping from prying eyes.... And the OEM First Aid kit... Also managed to get a hold of a new front lip and OEM fogs... Will post up some more pics soon...

Whilst not exactly going to full project standards yet - things have been done and discovered, which i feel is worthy of a post. Lol So what have we done since January? Well not much. Firstly, for some reason the previous owner had decided to fit some hideous seat covers. Whilst they no doubt served their purpose in protecting the uphostery over the years, they undoubtedly had to go! For some reason the front seats had two layers of the stuff :/ Anyway - It revealed the beautiful unmolested material - pretty well presevered from the early 90's. After a thorough clean, they turned out as follows And found a few neat, touring specific features that were hidden away by the seat covers: These strings clip onto the rear seatbelt latches.... Why? So that after the seat base is lifted when the seats are folded, the latches don't fall underneath when you put them back... little things eh? Theres also this neat center belt clip that keeps everything tidy in the back And then this little doohicky - again, previously hidden by the covers - pops up when you pull the lever to release the seats And makes sure everything is nice and secure for loading...
