  1. I would love the Mini over a Starlet but defa not an auto mini . I know it sounds weired but I love them Minis. What a great little car.
  2. Ripper, I saw this on FB and thought it was an amazing job and no joke I thought you or Peri might be connected with the shooting. I know that you work in a advertising company and thats another reason for me to think in that direction. Dude, the theme, dialog, lighting, shooting, acting everything is perfect. Please give my compliments to your friend and the boys acting was priceless. Very well done and hope we see more quality ads like this.
  3. OT - Came across this SL Railway FB page and since you are an enthusiast thought u might like it. Me too love Locos. ) http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=300087194192#!/pages/Priyanka-Rodrigo-Sri-Lankan-Railways/300087194192
  4. Ok boys so thought to bump up this thread again in case any riding fans here have changed their rides and will like to show us a photo. I will start with my one. I have had it for a while now, its a 2007 Yamaha R6. Got it from Melb and rode it up to Canberra. It is approximately 800Kms and it took me 8 hours with 3 15 minute breaks. I averaged 130km/h and the max I did was 200km/h. Since I didn't have my Shoeis on or good leathers I was quite scared to go any faster and not to mention the cops.
  5. I don't think they cut the metal to put a door on the RHS. The vehicle is designed with that door when the shell is made it self I guess so I wouldn't agree they cut it apart just to put a door. AFAIK a 5 door will be more rigid than a 4 door but obviously a 5 door van will be more heavy than a 4 door one. Also our CR51 is a 4WD and we get around 10km/L in City and I think 2WDs give the same as well. May be 1km/L more I would say. I drove it in SL last December specially when we went to the hills and I would say the grip was perfect.
  6. Thanks dude, will do a bit of search on him to see what does his work look like. Thanks Peri, got your PM too and have passed it on to the missus to check them out. About the 3000 guys, they seem to be quite busy and have more than what they can manage on their plate. They have told they only do two weddings in a day and they have got booking throughout the year. That might be another reason for poor customer service. Thanks for the leads and wished dude. Will follow up. We are not using an even planner. Me and my fiance' will be doing most of the planning (Well to be honest, she does the planning ). The issue with going and seeing the photographers or exhibitions is not possible for me because I live out of SL but my fiance' is still in SL. She goes to these wedding exhibitions to check things such as flower arrangements etc and she has checked some photographers too. Will ask her to have a close look of the work you guys have mentioned.
  7. Oh MD, thought you knew it machang. Some say he looks like an a$$ h***.
  8. Got your PM dude, thanks alot. I have checked one guy and seems to be good, will show it to my Missus and get her thoughts too. Thanks mate, that's what I thought too but again as another member mentioned I prefer a guy who has some experience too. I have seen some shots from a small timer and they look great. Yap, could you please PM me the details and I would send you a PM too. Thanks Siffan, could you please PM me details of the guy who did your wedding bro? Yap heard about the prices and apparently they could be as expensive as 400k according to a friend of mine. Didn't know you did functions on the side dude. Please PM me the guys you shoot for. Thanks machang for the wishes . I'm also impressed with the work of 3000 guys from their site but apparently the big guy dosen't attend in person anymore and it's his assistants. You are correct, I too noticed a pattern in their wedding shots and some of the shots seem to be a bit too bright. But the things I hear about them these days are not that impressive and they seem to have very poor people skills. May be since they have got into the market they do not care anymore. Thanks for the leads you have given, will look more deep into it but since you are married you know that what ever said and done the missus has to show the green flag so will tell her to have a look too. I would like a guy who will take some instructions from us and at the same time be a bit creative too. These photos will be shown to my mates over here and I want them to do a good job. Ah, with the sun set shot, me was thinking the same thing too and since my wedding finished at 5.30 and the reception is starting at 6.30 I got around 45mins to shoot on the beach. I selected GFH because we both love the beach and my elder bro got married on a beach over here and love the beach shots too. I agree what you have said with small timers and don't want to make a mess. I have planned my uncle to be with the photographers and he did that for three of my cousins weddings. He is an amateur snapper and some of his shots are awesome. He will be shooting too, just in case. Thanks for your input, much appreciate it. Cheers. Thanks dude, PM your flicker page or any other page with some shots and will give it a think. Will also look up Upul. We need regular shots with family and friends and a bit of creativity indoors and outdoors. My uncle will be a second shooter and will get my friend to shoot with my D90.My friend did the same for my engagement and the shots were pretty good even though he is an amateur.
  9. Hi guys, This has nothing to do with the Automobile industry but thought to ask this question as some one who is in the field might be able to show me the right direction. So, I finally decided to tie the knot and my big day is going to be in the end of this year. We have started to plan the function and now I need some help regarding the Professional Photos we will be taking. I know advertising is banned from the forum and if any one would like to recommend a studio/professional photographer please PM me. Do any of you guys have any kind of experience with the so called studios/photographers? If so how long was it ago and please share your experience too (good/bad), if you would recommend them and what are their charges like. Since I do not live in SL, I do not have a great exposure to local marketing and the current SL treands. My future missus did a bit of search and according to her many are recommending "Studio 3000". Now I have checked their website and it looks nice and I have also checked a photo of a mate of mine and his GF take by them and it was great too. But I do not like the way they have treated my missus and her parents when they went to make an inquiry regarding this. Since the function will be in Gallface Hotel, after making the booking they have checked the small outlet of the above mentioned studio at GFH and the guy at the shop has shown no interest in any form of customer service. I was quite annoyed by this and thought never to hire them but thought to ask some advice/experience from you guys too. Also regarding these so called albums, how much do these studios normally charge? I know it depends on a lot of factors but would like to know how much would an average album cost. Thanks in advance
  10. Dam.... wish I could vote for more than one person ! But I casted my vote to "Dear Sir" Looking at the polls as it is now me can see a clear win. 11. Thanks for the reply machang. Yap, could you plz PM me his number because me thinks it will be better to talk to the boss him self.
  12. Hi guys, sorry for digging up this thread again but I have a Similar question and would like to get some advice from you guys. I need to rent a car in December this year to be used for a month. I know it is quite early to ask but I got some of my folks travelling to SL from here and they would like to know things in advance. I have visited Milindu's business site and the info there seems to be out dated since they have got 2009 stuff on it. I would prefer to rent a FB15/Carina class vehicle. I will be travelling to the hill country and may use it quite often. I want it to be self drive too. So over to you guys, I would apreciate it if some one could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
  13. My vote goes for the Bajaj 3W. You possibly could find them even in the most remote parts of the country and most importantly any one could identify the brand. I would give second to a Layland bus and third to the old VW beetles.
  14. What about an investment property? Like a unit or shop kinda thing? You will be able to get rental income and capital growth too. Otherwise you could create a portfolio with different amounts in different options. For an example say 2.0Mil in shares, 2.5Mil in a plot of land and 0.5Mil in fixed interest as a cash buffer. It all melts down to what level of risk you are willing to take. If you wanna but all 5.0 Mil in shares please do it with due care. But from the lateset post war statistics CSE there seems to be a growth pattern. In stocks, I think financials (eg. banks) are experiencing a good return and growth. Why don't you seek advice from a financial planner. Not sure if such people are available in SL but they will be more informed in this field. Also consider about the income tax you might have to pay if you invest in stocks, no clue how it works in SL.
  15. Good decission JD and all the best with that.
  16. Anyways guys, thanks for the replies. I thought to ask this directly from Dialog and went om their site and used the chat function with a cust service guy. So what I was told is a new micro sim will be $1,000/- but since I have an existing KIT number from back in the days I just need to pay 200/- and get a micro sim. This could be done from BIA out let, so I have decided to do it that way. Just thought to share this for any members with micro sim - Dialog related questions.
  17. Hi guys, Sorry for pulling up this thread again. I will be travelling to SL next week and was wondering what is the current go with Dialog and the micro sims since I would like to use my Iphone 4 there . Is it still a 1000/- for a micro sim as some one mentioned earlier in the thread or do we need to cut one our selfs? If any of you guys have the latest updates, please let us know. Cheers.
  18. To warm up/ cool down the car in SL winter/summer? just pulling your leg
  19. Hi guys, Sorry for digging up this thread again. So as some of you might know my parents bought a Townace CR51 few months ago. Now my dad would like to install a central locking system with remote. By reading the thread I understand it is quite easy and cheap to get one over there and they do the installation as well. I have a few questions regading this 1) Is a Townace CR51 model compatible to install a after market central locking system? 2) Do they just provide the central locking by it self or the immobiliser as well? 3) Where is the best place to get this done from? (I would like to get this done from some one who knows what they are doing) 4) Price is not an issue but if some one has a rough idea I would appreciate it. 5) Any particular brands which are known to be trouble free? Cheers
  20. Belated birth day wishes man. Seems like you had a blast with your car and the grog Have a great year ahead.
  21. Hi Summiya, Looks like you forgot to attach the pictures of your ride. Just was curious to see Cheers
  22. Dude seriously, I have noticed the last couple of posts in this thread and what are you trying to say? All you say is the prices are going up again and again. I have read the whole budget thing yet but from what I have read around is there is a chance for the prices to come down due to VAT reduction and the new depreciation values. Besides if vans get cheaper people with old cars and a big family might upgrade to a van causing the used car prices to be reasonable. (I might be wrong)
  23. What tuk tuks are getting cheaper??? as if we need more of them. More pain and accidents guaranteed for sure!
  24. Just saw the thread and saw to keep you guys posted. With the D90 I was planning to get finally I decided to get the body with a 18mm - 200mm Nikkor lens. The whole lot with the 8GB ultra fast card, Hoya filter and a bag came roughly around AUD 2000. There is already two D90 in the family with my cousin and uncle and was waiting to get this. Any one has the latest price of a D90 body or the lot with the lens in SL?
