  1. In EFI engines (most of them), adjusting air to fuel ratio is not done because it's managed by the ECU. What you are referring to is done on old carbureted engines. The flickering light is a timing torch and timing is managed by the ECU in modern cars (including the Viva Elite I'm sure) and there is no adjustment required. But a diagnostic scan has not been done here which is what you are concerned about I guess. Sampath, I think they've covered pretty much everything that needs to be done in a standard EFI engine tuneup. "Analyzing Electronics" probably refers to running a diagnostic scan while your car is plugged into an electronic device that displays parameters from all sensors and info. about how the engine is running. Not sure why this was not done, but maybe you can ask them next time. The mech there will probably do it for you if you ask.
  2. My knowledge on Land Rovers is very limited, but I went through all the info/videos on their website and this is pretty impressive. It being a Sri Lankan product is just awesome! A good investment if the original clutch is unbearably stiff (like in OP's case) I would say.
  3. Missed replying to your post yesterday. I dug up your job on the Teg and reminded myself of how nicely done that was. Mine will definitely be a one off job, but I haven't really got my plan for this in place yet. You'll be the first to know if I'm going ahead. Thanks Komi. Thanks Ripper. I'm pretty sure this will be just a walk in the park for you.
  4. Guess Rumesh88 was spot on about the pulley. Glad the issue seems to be resolved. Hope it stays this way.
  5. Woah! How in the world did I miss this thread???
  6. You know that "Type R" is Honda's high performance editions of their models right? Therefore you're saying that only Hondas can take corners at high speeds and not other hatchbacks.
  7. Thanks LashNeo. And believe me, you're not crazy. As a matter of fact, I don't think doing something out of love for a car can be called that. Thanks mate! I'm flattered man. Thank you!
  8. I couldn't have said it any better. The number of vehicles on the road doesn't say anything about how good or bad that particular model is. Take the Honda Insight for example, our Sri Lankan fuel economy fans have made it a very common car here whereas it's actually a failed model that Honda had to discontinue. Another example is that there obviously are a lot of Suzuki Altos on the road than Toyota Axios, does that mean the Alto is better?
  9. The car being compared against the Lancer EX here is not even the Axio 141. It's the Axio 161.
  10. I can't be bothered machan. Even if we explain everything technically (why the EX is better than the Axio), I doubt he will understand anything anyway. One thing to clarify though.. I have driven the Axio and the Lancer EX (more than just a couple of times) although it seems that Mr. Optimus Prime has only driven the Axio in his entire life and speaking out of total partiality.
  11. Looks like we'll all have to sell our cars & buy Axios. Apparently that's the best sedan out there.

The problem I see here is, social & economical status of us has pushed us to cheat to our soul when it comes to buy a car for personal use. we bother economy, maintenance cost & resale value than anything though our subconscious mind loves to particular make/model. Isn't that the noble truth?

No Machan, for some, a car is just a utility. For example, I could not care less about what brand of watch I wear. But there's bunch of people who collect them as a hobby. What's stupid is for me to go on a collectors' forum and tell them to sell their Rados cos my Casio tells the time perfectly.

      Crosswind

True. non-quartz rados run at 28800bph and quartz casios oscillate at 32768 Hz. Theoretically, casios can give 4000 times accuracy than rado :) so let's tell Jaliya to throw all his rados away (preferably in my direction) :)

  12. Looks like you've got a really good deal. Glad the car is back on the road. The engine cross bar you replaced is the upper bar that goes from one fender to the other with the hood release mechanism attached to it? If that's the one, 2500 is damn cheap! You also said that its not genuine, where did you get this from? Interesting! Waiting for photos too.
  13. I think it was the Teg. I think he did some touch-up work on a wrap that was coming apart. Maybe I can can get him to do the stitching for me. Good idea actually. The thing is, a thin hem should be stitched to keep things tidy and I think that requires a sewing machine the can handle leather/rexine. I already tried folding and heating up a thin hem kind of margin but it tends to unfold. Thanks for the idea! Will let you know how it goes.
  14. I feel like Sylvi now.
  15. Okay so now the best sedan is the Axio. Is fuel consumption the only thing one should look for in a car? Have you even driven a Lancer EX to be comparing your Axio with it? It may be good on fuel, but it cannot match the handling and comfort of the Lancer EX. You placed an order for a Lancer EX a few months ago right? This is like fantasizing about Ch@thurika Peir!s when Eva Mendes is in bed with you.
  16. Hehe! Thanks bro. Was wondering if you hadn't seen this yet. Completed the final door today. So this completes my DIY job upholstering job on the door trims. I need to get the steering wheel wrapped too and I'm evaluating my options these days. I'm not that good with needles and thread, so I might have to go through it on a trial and error basis.
  17. Thanks for sharing the contact! This just opens up a whole lot of new possibilities!
  18. WoW! That is just amazingly neat!! I didn't even know we have laser cutting here (knew it was available for cards and stuff, but not for metal). I'm pretty sure this will look like a factory-fitted grille when it's mounted onto the car. Great job! I'm honoured!
  19. Thank you for your feedback guys! Makes me want to post more threads like this. Really!
  20. Got a chance to capture some photos today. I learnt new and easy ways of wrapping the panel as I did this for the other doors as well. - Cutting out a larger piece of rexine makes it possible to stretch it well because you can grab hold of the excess part and pull harder. The rexine does stretch more than we think it can. - Staples can be used to anchor margins (on the reverse side of the panel) so that the glue does not come off while it's still wet. (this was my wife's idea ) - If you corner and leave hard the part to the end (parts that have a lot of sharp bends in the surface), you'll be gathering all the wrinkles there which will be even harder to paste. Start from one edge and work your way up to the other without leaving out parts. - Get rid of wrinkles as soon as they appear. Leaving them thinking you'll get at them at the end will not work despite the use of a heat gun. - When pasting across a sharp bend (say a 90 degree angle), apply glue upto the apex of the angle and paste the rexine. Let it dry for half an hour. Continue pasting after it has dried. The rexine will lift off the surface if it's pasted immediately accross a place where the surface bends sharply. Three doors down (like the band), one to go!
  21. For once in AutoLanka, OP asked a question and thanked himself for solving the issue. But seriously, who would have thought it's such a simple thing!

    My A72 Build

I thought you were going to turn out the manifold in chrome (to complement the air intake). But if I were to pick a colour, it would be silver I guess. One thing to keep in mind is that you will have to use primer and paint that will withstand extremely high temperatures. I don't think regular high heat paint (stuff that we use to paint brake calipers and valve covers will do). One question: Any particular reason going for a 4-2-1 manifold instead of the stock 4-1? As far as I know, 4-2-1 manifolds are used mostly in conventional cars whereas 4-1s are used in performance vehicles as it offers more power at high revs. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
  23. trinity, there are tons of sellers who ship this to SL machan. OP just wasn't bothered to search. Example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1996-2000-HONDA-CIVIC-LIGHT-TAIL-LIGHT-LICENSE-OEM-34100-S04-A01-/141099893383?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20da358287&vxp=mtr OP, The part number of this is: 34100-S04-A01. FYI
  24. The seller does ship to Sri Lanka, it's just that no shipping method is specified. Contact the seller to agree upon a shipping method and you'll can get it down.
