  1. Short answer: Yes The compression ratio specified by the manufacturer is a static figure. This cannot be directly attributed to the octane requirement because even engine temperature, variable valve timing and a turbo may cause the fuel to detonate earlier (causing pre detonation knock). A higher octane fuel is necessary to prevent that from happening. On the fuel flap of the RalliArt and Evo, there's a label that says "Use octane 98+ fuel only". This is why I was wondering how the Evo Xs in Sri Lanka are running.
  2. The 4B11T engine is meant to run on octane 98 or higher. I wonder how all the Evo Xs in the country are fuelled. Do we get octane 98 locally?
  3. That photo is of a Galant Fortis RalliArt and is identical to the Lancer RalliArt spec to spec. The twin Exhausts came only on the Evo and the RalliArt.
  4. The capacitor is not inside the distributor, but attached to the metal housing of the distributor. It should be attached using one nut, and a single wire comes out of it and connects to the contact point set. Also, it looks like I was wrong about your coil being electronic. That's a regular oil filled coil. The ballast resistor is the white ceramic like part attached to it. These types of coils sometimes heat up and could very well be the reason of your issue. When the issue happens, open the hood and check if the coil is really hot to a point where you can't touch it. Also, since your coil is in an upright position, moisture tends to build up under the output terminal even do to the slightest hairline crack in the red boot of that high tension lead. This is due to internal arching. So check the high tension lead of the coil thoroughly. Some cracks might not be visible to the naked eye. An electrician should be able to tell if the ballast resistor is good. If you have a multimeter, you can check it yourself.
  5. EX is actually the model name. The EX imported by Un!ted M0tors came in three trim Levels to Sri Lanka - GLX, GLS and GT.
  6. Your car doesn't have coil packs, it has only one coil and from memory, it's an electronic one. Nevertheless, a weak ignition system can show problems like this when the engine heats up. First of all, ensure that the following components are okay: - Spark plugs - Clean and in working order. Adjust clearances. - High tension leads (plug wires) - No cracks, not brittle and well insulated. Clean each wire on the outside with a dry cloth. - Distributor - Assuming the cap and rotor are okay since they are new. Inspect the contact point set. If there is a capacitor attached to it, replace it - they're very cheap. - Ignition coil - In working order. There should be a ballast resister attached to the coil. When this fails, ignition problems start to show. especially when the engine is warm. The ignition coil on the C12 is attached to the firewall as I remember, it's basically at the other end of the high tension lead that connects to the middle terminal of the distributor cap. Apart from this, it could also be due to a lean fuel mixture caused by a vacuum leak or a faulty PCV system that gets worse as the engine builds up heat. But since you say that the car vibrates heavily, I assume the problem is with the ignition system. Anyway, check the above and keep us posted.

    Nissan Presea

How in God's name can an ordinary pen drop through the gap between the dashboard and the windscreen? Anyway, if it fell in on the passenger side, take out the glove compartment and the you should be able to shine a light and get the pen and stuff out. If it's the other side, well you still can but requires more effort.
  8. If you're just looking for the regular tungsten bulb, then you can find them by the dozens in Darley road. They are usually 12V.
  9. To add to Nishan.dj's comment, it could be due to an oil leak in the power steering system as well. A gradual increase of stiffness in the steering can be due to the loss of oil as pressure builds up in the system.
  10. I considered this while I had my CS3, a flip-out one obstructs the centre AC vents and the clock, so I didn't like that. The actual double din conversion kit is pretty neat. If you read through the following thread, you would have found that regular ELM based scanners don't work with the CS: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14674-diy-scan-your-own-car/ Also, the double din conversion that s.madura did was done using a similar kit from eBay that was almost half the price of what is shared above. These kits are becoming cheaper by the day, given the age of the CS series. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/17477-lancer-cs3-double-din-conversion/ If you read through the following thread, you would have found that it doesn't work with ELM scanners and the like: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14674-diy-scan-your-own-car/
  11. Can't believe there's another Lancer CS thread going on pretty much with the same information which has been discussed in the forum over and over again. There are many threads about the CS Lancer, search the forum! There's even a double din conversion thread.
  12. Pretty sure they must have meant "damper mounts" (AKA shock absorber mounts). If they're damaged, they should be replaced.
  13. Search the forum. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15808-how-to-search-on-autolanka/

    Removal Of Wiper Blade

Agree with Sampath. The reverse side should be having a plastic tab that needs to be slightly lifted using a screwdriver to unlock the blade.
  16. I'll reply to that quoting a post from trinity to guess who...? You!
  17. My thoughts exactly. Mahinda might have though. But I'm not sure if he'll agree to just give away the small glass, unless one of the doors he's got can only be used for parts.
  18. Sweet ride madmax! Congrats! Looks like you've done the grille in black. Nice! I got a chance to drive an M3 a couple of months back. Belonged to a friend. A 2012 one though. Loved it! Sure it only got better after 2012.

    Express-Way Updates

Not necessarily an "expressway update", but construction on the Rajagiriya Flyover is to be started in July and end in 2018.
  20. Is this the first time you're renewing after the transfer? If yes, it could be because the online renewal system is unable to find information about the previous revenue licence as it was issued from an office in a province that's not yet open for online renewal.
  21. Aaand another year goes by. Many many happy returns of the day Trinity! Have a superb birthday and take care.
  22. Well from the photos (particularly the second one) it looks like they have beaten the panel from inside to cause it to come forward. They probably had trouble accessing the panel from inside the car, so used some pointed tool to beat the panel out. Some next level makabass job. You don't need to replace the panel, all you need is a good tinkerer with patience and craftsmanship to correct the damage. As for the windshield, Pretty sure you can polish that out. I guess you will have to live with the damage caused to the beading. You can try applying some gasket maker to seal that crack, so that water doesn't leak in.
  23. Call him and you can find out: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/7729-windscreen-repairs/?p=114631
  24. The forum has enough and more threads about the CS Lancer. In fact, I think this series is one that's been talked about quite in detail. You may want to search the forum. You'd be surprised at how much content you will find. As for the differences in the front grille, car models go through changes and face-lifts throughout their production years. There can also be changes based on the target market. The CS Lancer was subject to a lot of changes to it's appearance from 2001 through 2008. This is just one of them.
  25. Hi Roshan, If I remember correctly, the filter isn't sold separately. The fuel pump assembly houses the filter and it should be purchased as a whole unit. You can verify this with the agents - they might have a repair kit or something now. Call the spare parts division, give the number of your car (if it's a brand new import) or chassis number and they will tell you over the phone. The service manuals don't have part numbers.
