  1. Another brochure about the sports kit which was available for the first gen Lancer. Unfortunately the resolution of the images I found were low and the text is bearly readable. Sharing them anyways.
  2. Managed to dig up an old set of images off a manual I found online a few years back. All about rally prepping a 1600 GSR. I'm sharing a thumbnail image below and have included links to each of the pages (13 total pages) further below because the images themselves are a large and might cause this page take a while to load. Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | Page 5 | Page 6 | Page 7 | Page 8 | Page 9 | Page 10 | Page 11 | Page 12 | Page 13
  3. That sucks. I hope the rims you found there were good as the ones you bought down. Were they F1 rims by any chance? There are a couple of things to consider when buying alloys and I think this was discussed before. Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD), Centre bore diameter and Offset. What has badly gone wrong in The Don's case is that the PCD does not match the PCD of the car's studs. Further, even if the PCD is an exact match, if the car's original wheel's are hub centric, the centre bore diameter should also be checked. If the centre bore diameter of the wheel is not compatible with the car, then the studs will be under stress when the car is in motion and will lead to wobbles and unforseen consequences at high speed. So as Watchman said, it's not just going ahead and buying a set of alloys that you think looks nice, they should be perfectly compatible with your car for optimal perfomance and a smooth ride.
  4. Fair enough S_N. I was simply trying to cool things down by making sanath gsr understand that we were all talking with good intentions in mind.
  5. Where in my post have I told him that he should not get offended for all those things that you have mentioned above?
  6. sanath gsr, As the person who popped an old thread and caused the whole story to go ablaze, I wll explain why you do not have to be offended. First and foremost, it must be said that whatever car it is that is rotting out there is a good old Lancer 2 door. And makes any enthusiast's heart break to see a car in such a state regardless of whether it is a 1600 GSR or not. It is only natural even for me to get all worked up when someone neglects a car and let it go to the grave. So please understand that. On AutoLanka, we like to have fun while discussing important matters, and the whole boosting and setting fire was a part of us having fun. You have to understand that they are not serious comments. Take it easy. Everyone's dissappointment and negative comments about the car is solid proof that everyone who commented here are pure enthusiasts and are aching to see a original 1600 GSR on Sri Lankan roads. If the car is really being restored and rescued, then please share with us all the information and photos. Most of us on the forum have not witnessed a real 1600 GSR and I'm sure others like me would love it if you share the story. Finally, it makes my heart leap with absolute joy to hear that we have a car that saw the finish line of a Safari Rally! What a priviledge it must be to be owning a car with such a remarkable history. Peace!
  7. if I were you Komi, I'd go chrome to preserve the original look. But that's just me. Chrome is never too much on a classic IMO. On a Toyota Vigo - well that's a whole different story.
  8. I'm pretty sure I've seen your car on the road ke70. My reaction was pretty much the same as Sampath's. Lovely car - one of a kind story.
  9. Removed possibly offensive post.
  10. A sneak peak of the group above:
  11. Woah! I have not seen one for real as of yet. Any of those 1600 by any chance? By the way, check your inbox Schiffer.
  12. Some people I say. I wouldn't be this dissapointed if he was actually taking good care of the car and was hoping to pass it on to his son instead of just letting them go to the grave with him.
  13. Maybe the guy wants the passengers on the rear seats to do the rear view mirror checking for him.
  14. Are u kidding me right now? Looks like the car has spent quite a lot of time like that. That's just plain disappointing. I hope someone rescues that car from the state it's in right now.
  15. Damn, where is this car machan? Somewhere in Kandy?
  16. Bumping this old thread to share some videos I found on YouTube. 24th Safari Rally (1976): Winners (Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR) 25th Safari Rally (1977): 4th Position (Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR)
  17. Welcome to the forum nagaya. Nice to see so many people trying to get this to work on the CS3. I gave up after little effort, but seeing all this makes me want to start again and get this to work. I'll share a bit of research I did some time back when I was trying this out. I didn't go as far as opening a terminal and sending the commands because I found an extensive list of statistics done on various vehicles with ELM327 and the results (success/failure) and 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6L (which is what I have) had not been successful in connecting. Check the link below for more info: http://emotionaltouch.myweb.hinet.net/c_OBDII/ELM327_tested.htm Further, since Mitsubishi communicates using the MUT protocol, I was looking for a way to do this over OBDII and I did find a list of commands to be sent over a terminal but I did not try it out. They seem to be a bit different from what Rumesh has shared. Try the link below: http://forums.evolutionm.net/7422846-post11.html Also, a whole different approach specific to Mitsubishi vehicles is available in www.evoscan.com. The Lancer specific diagnostic information is shared in the page below: http://www.evoscan.com/technical-vehicle-manuals/12-mitsubishi-diagnostics The above method also works only on 2007+ Lancers, so my car was out of the question. Hope someone finds this information useful.
  18. Oh. I just tried and it worked for me. Anyway, the name of the group is "3kavi" [https://www.facebook.com/3kavi].
  19. Welcome to the forum. According to the photos you have shared, that actually looks like the o ring/gasket behind the hose connected to the pump is worn out. At least that looks like the place where oil is leaking out from. Replacing the o ring/gasket with a new one and re-installing the hose will solve the issue.
  20. Found out that there is actually a Facebook group that shares stuff written on three wheelers and the things they have actually written on them trishaws I tell you. https://www.facebook.com/3kavi/photos_stream
  21. +1. Couldn't have put it into words better myself.
  22. A possible cause is that your AC drain hose is blocked and water from the evaporator gets accumulated on the tray underneath it. The high pressure undercarriage wash from the service might have bent the drain hose. Just my 2 cents. Edit: If it was an air pocket in the cooling system, the sloshing sound would have disappeared after the car reaches operating temperature because the valve in the radiator cap disperses all air out of the system.
  23. Since this is an issue with the cooling system that blew the gasket, I can suggest that you take off the radiator and give it a thorough clean-up as well. The deteriorated water pump's parts might be blocking a few lines in the core.
  24. I was about to suggest surgical spirit, but since you've tried it out already, try placing a paper serviette/tissue over the stain and use a warm iron over the paper. If the stain is fresh, it will be absorbed to the paper pretty soon. If that doesn't work, you can go ahead with steam cleaning.
