  1. Nothing to be confused about it is all down to personal preference. Both cars have identical specs. The only thing is I do not think the sedan comes with adaptive dampers like the top spec hatch. Some people prefer the looks of the sedan more but I needed the versatility of the Hatch with its cargo space.
  2. I have a 2018 hatchback and myself and quite a few others have written about the 1.0 turbo and how it pulls extensively in a few other posts. Anyway to answer your questions. 1. I have only driven to kandy once and never felt the 1.0 struggling. Drop it to S use the paddle shifters and it has ample torque to get up and go. This was with 4 people in the car and luggage. Of course 2 of them were little kids so if you have a young family no issue. On the expressway the car is a nice cosy cruiser and is much more refined option than the mazda3 for example. 2. Don't know about that. The 1.0 turbo hatchback is built in honda 's plant in Swindon and exported all over the world. Don't know about the sedan. Did you check honda UK website? 3. No reports of failure but the car costs a bit more to service and run because of the turbo. There were lots of cars sold because of the good pricing with our duty structure so naturally you will see more on the second hand market. It was the same with the vezels.
  3. News to me. Didin't know there were heated mirrors
  4. never had any issues with them for 4 + years when they did servicing and basic maintenance of my mazda3. Having said that is was very basic work as it was a brand new car. What is your car? Being the agent of course they wouldn't have used engines.
  5. Nice review. Have the same colour in EX Tech trim. One of the better colours for this car for sure. Waiting for more updates!
  6. Well I have not had an oil change on my car yet but on the topic of fuel economy have you tried doing a manual measurement? Mine too moves around in the 13-14l/100 range. The EXT is loaded to the hilt and is probably heavier than the SR versions so I don't think you can expect better fuel consumption in colombo traffic. Let us know about the oil once you consult Stafford. Since they bring down the same car and offer a warranty you would think they would know what the best oil would be in our conditions.
  7. Nice write up @Insedious I too have done 1700 kms now. Some observations. 1. Fuel consumption has stablized at around 8.5km/l in the urban crawl from nawala to colpetty. 2. Stafford did the service. Did not change anything at 1300 kms. 3. There is ample power for day to day driving in colombo but this weekend I have to do a kandy trip so it will be interesting to see how she pulls up the hills. 4. Electrics are sometimes glitchy. Bluetooth doesn't always connect. Auto breaking system kicks in abruptly when the sun shines directly on the sensor. Auto headlight leveling once got confused in a storm. But these are all minor niggles. Speakers have broken in and sound a lot better though it lacks bass big time. 4. There is a slight miss similar to what another poster had described when accelerating. But that's because our fuel isn't the best. Doesn't always happen though so not a big deal. 5. Ride and handling are superb and always puts a smile on your face. Leather seats are comfy and supportive. No regrets about buying and even though the back of the hatch looks hideous I still prefer this to the sedan.
  8. a few years ago I had the same sort of ding on my then brand new mazda3 which was only a week old when I grazed the edge of are half open window. Annoyed the hell out of me but didn't want to paint the entire boot so left it the way it is. After some time you forget about it
  9. That is very good looking car. Especially the hatch. I wonder if we will get the 2.0 skyactiv x here which will be ridiculously over priced or they will stick the old 1.6 mzr or previous gen 1.5 skyactiv.
  10. EX doesn't have it either. I don't think it comes any of the 1.0 models. Only on the 1.5
  11. @Civic lasany update? Did this solve your issue?
  12. No experience with the X type but have owned a V35 Skyline and driven the Cefiro several times. Also owned Mark X GRX 120 (2005 model) Since your budget is 3.5 - I am unsure if Mark X can be had for that price but Cefiro and Skyline should be possible. Highly recommend the V35 over the Cefiro. Have written about it in these forums. But very unlikely you can find one that hasn't been abused given the age.
  13. There is a factory break-in oil in these civics. I believe the manual specifically states not to do the first oil change until the maintenance minder indicator comes on. After that if you are paranoid about oil changes go ahead every 10,000 kms or so. Oil changes in the new civics are entirely dependent on your driving styles and environments. Trust in the maintenance minder. But I guess no harm in getting an inspection at Stafford and an undercarriage wash but don't change the oil.
  14. GK- Congrats. So you decided to go for the Axela after all. Good choice. Agreed take off the matt black sticker. Car looks classy as it is and doesn't need to be riced. It's a very solid car and should serve you well for a long time. Also hybrid will save you some fuel.
  15. Please let us know the outcome after changing the fuel filter
  16. hmmm...guess you can't go wrong at Laugfs then
  17. definitely sounds like bad fuel. Take it out for a long drive and do an Italian Tune up. Then top up again. On another note how do you know what's a reputed fuel station? Even the well known ones in Colombo have been known to serve substandard fuel.
  18. Anyone has experience on servicing and maintaining the Civic at Ideal Motors? The sale where I bought it from recommends them for servicing. Never been a fan of Stafford- over crowded and don't have time to give the car proper attention.
  19. For anyone who has an EX and EXT with the premium audio system - have you noticed an improvement in sound quality after a few 1000 km's? Been reading up a few forums and they say the stock speakers take some time to break in. Otherwise was considering swapping them out for something better. So far that's my only gripe with the car.
  20. if you're going to crawl at 60 why don't you take the Galle Road? Ok - maybe that was rude but there's nothing more annoying than those slow moving vehicles struggling on the expressway. Worse still is many of them stick in the right lane and don't give way - so atleast hope you stick to the correct lane.
  21. They rev it up to about 4500 RPM and that's only for a few seconds. Hardly redlining it. Don't see that doing too much damage. The guys who drive it at the port when unloading and getting it into car carriers/car sales- well, I'd be more concerned on if they follow the engine breaking in guidelines!
  22. The LED bar is not really my cup of tea- but definitely a neat job done. The stock headlamps are halogens right? You could also explore LED conversion kits for the headlamps for a more OEM look
  23. Interesting- I too was about to ask you the same question as I was considering going for this or a ceramic coating when I return to SL - never done it before. So I was being bombarded with all these ads for fancy ceramic coatings on social media. I usually do the professional polish and wax once/twice a year. But I've always been a DIY guy - so I use a good car wash product, wash mitts, 2 bucket wash, chamois and microfiber followed by the monthly quick detailer/quick wax and leather cleaner/conditioner etc. All my vehicles have looked great many years down the road. Think I'll stick to that routine.
  24. Again- it all depends on what you are used to and the car itself. I owned a Toyota Mark X which ran on 18 inch wheels with sports suspension- it was hard but not uncomfortably so and I always enjoyed the drive. We now have a Civic EX-T in the household with adaptive dampers which is very comfy - and I actually prefer it with Dynamic Suspension settings on. My friend has the current gen Mazda6 2.5 Sky-Activ which runs on 19's with no adaptive suspension which I have driven several times and I love the ride. I much prefer these cars to the regular Premios and Allion's with its boat like suspension and floaty ride. My mom had an Insight and I hated that car's horrid soft suspension.
  25. Yes- that's why I said only in Sri Lanka thanks to our insane duty structure! These are very different cars in different classes! Premio- sterile repmobile, practical, ancient technology. Soft floating suspension, lifeless steering with a 1.5lire 1 NZ which sounds like a those horrible old sewing machines in the 80's. Spacious and reliable though but an awful dated design. Audio A3 TFSI- bang up to date, fun to drive, responsive engine, transmission and chassis. Not as spacious. Definitely not for someone who is worried about resale value and maintenance. Looks very nice, especially in S Line trim. It really depends what you want out of your ride really. It's only the price I don't see anything else comparable. Which is why so many people are saying if you really have to ask- get the Premio. It's the safer choice.
