There are few diesel converted trajets advertised for around 1.7m. If the conversion costs 500k as you said then it's better to go for the other option. But like miniace said there can be badly swaped ones. Anyway I'm trying to gather more opinion and will decide. btw isn't the Kia carnival the smaller one. Afaik trajet and Carens both are 7 seaters.

Sorry for diging out a old thread, but can somebody tell me what will be the cost to drop in a diesel 2C engine to a Kia carens or a hyundai trajet. Is it worth to do so. And suggest a good place to do the conversion. I'm planning to buy one of these two in the future and planning to employ it in a fleet service part time hence the need for the diesel conversion. Also guys which one is better (carens or trajet).I have driven a trajet and it's very comfortable but I heard carens is similarly comfy. cheers

Guys is there any method that can be used to disinfect the car’s interior on a regular basis. It just occurred to me due to consistently reoccurring viral attacks my family was having in the past, the culprit may possibly be the recirculating air con system. It is a known fact that bacteria/viruses breeds in the AC evaporators and filters. Are any aerosols like the ones used in aircraft cabins available in the market or is there any other simple way to keep the AC system clean of germs. If any of you guys done this please share your experience. And the doc in the forum, pls share your opinion too. cheers

Not exactly true. In the morning when you turn on the power the engine will start after about 10-15 seconds. That is to heat up the catalytic converters. The engine will remain on for few minutes until it reaches a certain temperature and goes off. In US models there is a coolant thermo bottle. It stores hot coolant and re-releases when you start the engine. It speeds up Prius warm-up time and reduces emission. When the engine is started this hot coolant will bring the engine to the operating temperature faster. In SL we have JDM and UK imports. both models do not have the themo bottle. Your scenario is valid only if the engine is still hot.

Well at least it's difficult to creep in between vehicles or overtake from left unlike the tuks. They have to move in line with the other vehicles so there will be some sort of enforced discipline.

+1 But have to mention that some of the special tools are still on the way. For example the refrigerant recovery equipment used on other vehicles cannot be used in the hybrid high voltage AC system because it will contaminate the special oil used for HV system. I saw them releasing the refrigerant to the atmosphere in a Lexus hybrid during a repair. In the US thats a 25000 $ fine.

Well if you have noticed that was written about 7-8 months back and most of what I'v mentioned is becoming true. (although I edited some of it today). And they are not just merely words, it took my 14 years of experience in the line of work which I do (not very far from automotive technology) to come to such conclusions. For a professional like me it's hard to keep quiet when people are misled with wrong information. Sorry for being myself. Anyway I'm not going to waste my time trying to change ones believes. Let the time decide it. If you think that I'm trying to trick others into buying one you are sadly mistaken. Certainly AL is not the place for that. I pity your childish thinking. All those people who bought hybrids didn't buy just because of this thread.
