Gosh thats a real beauty dude,cant believe you use it daily ,how does it cope with the traffic here,do you find the steering hard? do you get down parts from the UK or can you buy in Colombo as well?

Dehiwela Hii Street - Amila tyre shop just passing the karagamitya junction when you go from Dehiwela (most of the times thye will want you to buy all 4 tyres and not sell 1 or 2 ) but depends on who you ask ,thye get some good used tyres Ravindra tyre shop before karagampitya jucnion when you go from Dehiwela - they sell singles but availability depends on your luck Wellwatte - Marine drive battery shop sells used tyres too Maligawatte - Dont go there as they tend to re-groove the thread and sell ,its very dangerous for driving on main roads and high speeds

@ Rameez,mate the gear box cover has a box like bit with the vents which connects to the dashboard,in your car its missing,Panchikawatte is the ideal lace to get it i think i sent you the links with pics on how it will look from a website sometime back right? in this model the cool air comes from the vents just above the gear box cover

Talking of abandoned cars,in Allen Ave,Dehiwela near the municipality building there seems to be an abandoned Austin A30 in a sorry state ,wonder if you chaps have seen it too,been on the roadside for nearly 2+ years now

@ Mahindara, I know/knew 4 people who have/had this this car and 2 of them still own it and have nothing but praises for its durability and spares availability in my own persepective what I dont like about it is the fact that it has a bland interior compared to other cars in the age group (Lancer C12/11 wagons,Nissan California etc) and does not come with P/S or RPM meter etc

thats a crime to let such a car to the elements perhaps the owner is dead? or gone abroad? or maybe the car does not have the proper docs? whatever it is its a shame!

Sadly thats the case with most of the garages i know of 2 cases in 2 garages where they took the owner for a ride and through utter unprofessionalism damaged the distributor cap and burnt the coil (G-m -n- Garage in Nugegoda and A-a-a-i-g e Garage in Maharagama)

@ Sumiya,your doing a great job mate! I'm not sure of Datsun leaf springs but a Lancer (78-79 model) leaf spring cost 2000/- a few months back,need to hunt a bit,there is alos a joint in Pilliyandal who sell them

very tempting offer and certainly worth it these days when prices are shooting up faster than the Appollo rocket which went to the moon ;-) one question i have is supposing the mount gave away (say halfway from Colombo maybe in Galle or A'pua) will it damage the hybrid engine to keep driivng till the destination?

Can someone please let me know the pros and cons of the different versions of Trad Sunny 4fwd,full and half light 5fw full and half light for both 1300 and 1500cc engines I also like to know the market value for them and the possible fuel consumption figures

this car in its heyday was very popular for its fuel consumption,it had an extra overdrive gear stick too as for parts especially body parts will be tricky (unless u get 2nd hand ones from the 'watte') popularity wise its not as popular now as the Lancer Box or the Flat light/Tube light versions or the S/Wagons Also these Colts tend to get out of shape when they corrode ,pleae look at the car carefully before you buy

its not jsut the engine mate,please take into account the body weight ratio too when you try to compare the Lance Box vs the Hyundai Stellar As you would notice that the Stellar has a heavier body and many other accessories the Box does not have
