Had one in the family long years ago.... Was a decent ride with lots of options a standard jap car didn't have at that time.

Ours was the 1.4L , a tad under powered specially with the A/C running.

You better call up a few Hyundai parts importers and check on availability of spares....

Thanks 'isurunugawela88' for your comment.

No one else has an idea about this??????????

There are many of them now converted to Diesel, and if you get one of these make sure the radiator has changed also. Most of them will either have the 1C or the 2C engine. Some of the originals also developed gearbox problems so get it checked out well before purchase. Quite a big car, plastics did not age well, but looks quite luxurious internally. Not sure of the condition of most these days. There are probably enough around to warrant good availability of running gear spares though body parts trim etc like all other cars will be quite difficult to find.

Thanks guys for the quick response.. BTW has anyone of you have an idea of the fuel consumption on this?? City limits and long run.. Heard that this has 1.4 L 4G33 Mitsubishi engine..

LancerL, somebody has already confirmed this (check second post). As for fuel consumption look at the size of the car, size of the engine ..... what do you think? I assume about 6-7 kmpl

Dear Don, I agree with the second post. But according to the "wikipedia" this has the same engine which Lancer Box (Second generation Lancer 1979–1988) has. So people says that Lancer box does around 12Kmpl but this doesn't.

Other hand when it's come to Curb weight of both vehicles Lancer is "1,170–1,295 kg (2,600–2,850 lb)"

but Stellar is "1,000 kg (2204 lb)"

which I cant believe how Lancer Box doing better than Stellar.

its not jsut the engine mate, please take into account the body weight ratio too when you try to compare the Lance Box vs the Hyundai Stellar

As you would notice that the Stellar has a heavier body and many other accessories the Box does not have

I understand what you are saying, but I find it hard to believe that the Stellar is lighter than the Lancer box. I mean if you keep the two side by side you will notice which car is bigger. Now obviously I have no proof of this and somebody can shed some light.

Secondly anybody who claims the Lancer box can do 12kmpl is telling porkies. It might be able to do that in ideal conditions but in Colombo traffic conditions (and this is the basis on which most fuel economy figures are quoted) it probably manages around 8! Remember modern fuel injection engines are a lot more efficient than old carburettor engines and the reason some older cars were so fuel efficient was because they were light and had no air conditioning.

The lack of fuel efficiency is the reason most were converted to diesel, and some were done quite well. My uncle had one many moons ago with the 1C diesel engine.
