  7. yes,as repairing puncture on say an elephant infestd road in habarana or monaragala will/can take more time than changing the spare
  8. at the BMC watte, most probably fully dismantled now,im sue they will have the gear box cover your searching for but will try and rip you off hence go with someone who has been there before and knows how to tackle them
  9. i wont recommend converting to LP gas for following reasons i)pulling power is diminished esp in a climb ii)has to be done professinaly or else its dangerous iii)takes up a lot of boot space for the unit iv)will ruin a car like the FB 15
  10. Do you know where to buy good car rubber mats without making a big hole in your pocket Arpico has and a saet of 4 bucket mats will set you off by about 5k-6k ,normal ones little less i think, any other cheaper options and the places if you happen to know? thanks in advance
  11. yes it was also saw intact Lancer wagon,Renault 4,morris minors etc
  12. exactly ! but sadly this is not the 1st time i have heard of such stories many a car has been ruined at garages and left there for years due to tinkerers not working on it fully and then owners lose interest and scrapped them ,personaly know a A40 Fareena model and an Austin 10 which perished like that
  13. I thought it would be nice for members to share their experience in buying 2nd had parts at Panchikawatte (well ths thread wont suit those who like Hybrids and want to compare Axios and Allions! ) ok here goes my experience 1)bought window winder handle for Rs 120 (was quoted 200+) it was dusk hence when i said no and walked off they came down, paid broker Rs 30 2)tried to buy a inner door handle and they wanted Rs 1200 for a poor example, went and bought same handle brand new at L P Gunaratne for Rs 450! while inside the watte seen may old classics like Morris's and even a DKW in a fully intact condition! Would be great if others ost their experiences and how best to tackle those chaps (including the brokers) as that place has a wealth of hard to find spares for old classics but very easy to be taken for a ride there too and maynot be that safe to venture after dark inside as its full of kudu karaya types too

  16. yes machan i had replied without going through his whole thread funny thing is they had mention Orion engine to do astronomical figures of 14kmpl and 23kmpl but i dont think they would ever do that much huh
  17. which model did you have? and what SRI series?
  18. He might have a point there Peri,as stated elsewhere in the forum by others i think this kind of practice is a menace,in Europe is an offence and can get you in trouble if you do it,not sure about other countries though
