You don't need to be a moron, even for the best of drivers the luck runs out someday.... So far there has been no fatality on the E01, so lets try to keep it that way.... As Senna entered the high-speed Tamburello corner on lap 7, the car left the track at around 205 mph (330 km/h), hitting the concrete retaining wall at around 135 mph (217 km/h), with Senna having a weak heartbeat and significant blood loss (approximately 4.5 liters). Because of Senna's poor neurological condition, Professor Watkins performed an on site tracheotomy and requested the immediate airlifting of Senna to Bologna's Maggiore Hospital, where he was declared dead hours later.

Although totally irrelevant to automotive, the Sri Lankan stock market is driven by big fish, they drive up stock and dump, this is how they make the quick buck, unfortunately most of the small timers are the ones who loose out and the big fish win. You cannot create money, you have to take it from somebody else, who is not as smarter as you are. Very few quoted companies value is driven purely on earnings fundamentals...

You have another option which is look around Delkanda to find a second hand ( used) Jap fog lamps imported from Japan. In most cases these lights are very good and cannot see a big difference after its fixed. It will depend on your luck to find a good pair, but since its a swift there should be plenty. Chinese stuff may discolor fast, but these are very cheap and Rs 9,000/= seems a big amount for Chinese ones, unless it with the complete housing, switch etc... Fixing should not be too complicated.

If its P then it could be a 08 single cab converted., else it should be K, like this one, ( pretty good price ) http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=67558 But this one is P http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=65988

Replaced The Rear Windshield From Stafford :(
CARBON B4 replied to kushan's topic in General Automotive
Kushan, Please dont get me wrong here but its a little stupid to spend Rs 39k on a new part, when you can get it tinted . Ok it will have a slight color difference but its not good to be a extreme perfectionist. But if you still want to get the correct thing, like someone said speak to the MD or the CEO and get them to take back and give u a full refund. I assume this repair is covered by insurance ? ( You dont just replace a windscreen unless it was damaged in an accident ) And the main basis of insurance is that the vehicle needs to be repaired to the SAME condition it was before that accident, and this is why they take all the before and after pictures.... The guys ( so called top mgt ) is known to be corrupt, I remember the case where they were issuing " Stafford certifications " for some re-con importer, and the cars were actually damaged ones which got repaired here.- 43 replies

I have been thinking of this option as well, it seems too good to be true. A brand new puma110 Single cab ( Chassi Cab as its called ) is Approx Rs 6.Mn , A full 5 door conversion kit was advertised as Rs 3 Mn so add another Rs 500k for registrations/labour etc and Vola.. you have a brand new 110 station wagon for just Rs 9.5 Million !!! But here is the catch, the single cab will need to be registered as P so tecnically this is illegal and you never know at which point the Police will start to crack down on it and ask u yo pay the full duty for it, its similar to the cut vehicle. Then u are screwed. But this is the part which I cannot understand, most Toyota Hilux single cabs are reg under L , but why should the Defender be under P ? Has there been a change in the HS code/duty etc ?? ? The importers I spoke to mentioned it must be p and not L. If I am not mistaken the L is for lorry , and now since the GOSL has totally taken off the duty , if a 110 single cab brought down as a truck/lorry , then the 5 door conversion maybe worth the risk.... Also when its a Defender the Sri Lankan police think twice before pulling u over.....

Is It Possible For Convert Rear Drum Brakes To Disc Brakes
CARBON B4 replied to Strikeee's topic in General Automotive
Are you sure its $ 100 ? or did you miss a zero... Its very unlikely it could be so cheap, but I could be wrong. But there are separate brembo look a like covers, You fix it over your existing calipers so it looks like you have brembo ? A bit silly, but if its only looks I guess it will work well. -
Thanks to SLA I was able to find a very good deal on a set of 4 Maxxis tyres ( H/T 235x70R16 ) Although I had to travel to Wadduwa to get them it was still worth as they gave me a very good discount. Almost all places in Colombo quoted about Rs 1,500/= higher than this place. Since I cannot openly mention the place as it would amount to advertising if anyone is interested let me know and I would be happy to give the details. The tyre looks good but too early for a proper review as I just got them fixed last week...

Although this may be a argument when cornering, in most situations when we need to immediately apply the breaks is when the car is in a straight line ( someone jumping across the road or the vehicle in front suddenly stops ). Also most of the cars here are FWD. In a sudden stop most of the vehicle mass is on the front tyres, and this is when you need the best grip. This is also the reason why disk breaks are most often in front. With regard to the rotation, the 1st viedo posted by KavvZ shows that you dont need to remove the tyres from the rims, and its like a DIY job. But I think the tyres need to be taken out of the rims and fixed when rotating. The reason I say this is most vehicles will set a slightly negative camber setting as the factory setting. Which means there will be a slightly higher wear from the inside, right ? So if you are to balance out the thread wear without changing the rotating direction the rim needs to be changed. This is the only way you can get the insides of the tyre to the outside.. Please correct me if I am wrong...

Suggest Me A Car (Glanza S/v Or Ep91 Conversion??)

I am guessing you may have seen last weeks ##### ? -
Let me know the venue, will try and make it...

To me it looks like the Monitor has actually dragged the dead dog across the road... What looks like blood marks seem to indicate it.
-
Agree with Watchman, however your front tyres must be the best tyres. So its better to have 2 good tyres in front ( eventhough different makes ) than having worn out ones. At least till you get new set.

Never try overtaking on the left lane. 80% of Sri Lankan drivers hog the right lane since the there are bike guys on the left, who end up taking up the entire lane. If you are overtaking you need to be patient....
-
The purpose of the board is just to let other drivers know especially when overtaking to be a bit more careful. Also in the event of an accident there there will be a lot more attention to take out or look for the child. But if you use it to indicate to your wife u want to make babies, there are some SERIOUS communication issue, which needs to be resolved before going in to something as serious as having a baby.

I think you should, unless you paint it in different shades of the same color.
