  1. Yaris is also made in Japan and import to Sri Lanka through Toyota Lanka. One of my family members ordered a brand new Toyota Yaris through Toyota Lanka under his government permit in last year. I my self collected the car from Toyota Lanka. As we requested and as they promised we got a Yaris made in Japan. I checked the B/L (Bill of Lading) and port of shipment was a Japanese port. When you open a L/C (Letter of credit) you can mention the "Port of Loading" (Clause No. 44E) to be read as "Any port in Japan" in the L/C. So shipper has to comply it. Also you can request "Certificate of Origin". Then no one can cheat you. So it is 100% sure we got a Toyota Yaris made in Japan. I heard a funny story from one of my friends that all Yaris made in Thailand and then ship to Japan and bringing to Sri Lanka by saying it is made in Japan. Vehicles are not pumpkins to ship here and there. Poor guy.
  2. Thanks for the information. Will try to findout 2 Gazettes.
  3. Bro, you are reminding me such a lovely type of vehicles called "Scooters" My uncle had a Vespa Piaggio scooter bought brand new around1981/82 (85 Sri xxxx). I also used it in 1996 -1998 and after that never used and kept stored in our stores. It was a lovely vehicle and so fun to ride. But this old model was absent of side mirrors , signal lights and battery. Also there is no ignition switch and can lock only the handle. When you park it somewhere , anyone can start it by kicking, but unable to ride as the handle is locked. Gear changing by the left hand and exactly the three wheeler method (1 N 2 3 4) I was in India 1998-2001 and at that time scooter:motor bike ratio was nearly about 4:1 except Tamilnadu , I guess. There majority of the scooters were LML , Kinetec , TVS and Piaggio at that time. However rarely see such scooters here now. All market is turned to Scooty Peps.
  4. Dear MADZ, Just now I contacted Autolanka over the phone (011-2507440) and answered by some one called Mr.Anthony. I asked him that I want to advertise my unused bumpers for sale. Again he refused by saying that they are not instructed to advertise spares. Please check. Thanks.
  5. Thanks a lot MADZ, I am really appreciate your kind and prompt replies and help all the time.
  6. Same thing happened to me. I have some extra bumpers and tried to advertise on Autolanka . The guy over there said that they DO NOT advertise parts on the site. MADZ please check this. Advertising spares with Autolanka is more fruitful than news papers as it remains up to one month or one year. For news papers it works only for one weekend. It is better, if there is different section where people can advertise spares/parts on paid basis. Thanks.

  8. Year 2002 model means you are asking about model HA23S. One of my family members had a 3-Door model, manual transmission one. He used it for four years and sold it and didn’t have any problem in that period. Some spares are available in A.M.W. – Kithulwaththa Work shop. Please search the forum, you may get better results. 14. Machan, it was compulsory with my previous Japanese Alto 660cc. I feel if A/C switch mounted on steering wheel it would have more helpful. Also when we sell our vehicles, we can advertise as "multifunction steering wheel with A/C button"

  18. Yes , true Machan. In my life , I have seen only two things easily possible with prices going down in Sri Lanka. Those are Computers and Mobile phones. Regarding vehicle prices, they are depending on "up - down -up - down - up" by controlling import tax by the government time to time as they wish. Have to wait another 3 - 4 years for vehicle price dropping.
  19. Thanks for the information Machan. We are looking for that option too. I will contact him. Of course she is full of sentimental value. I just thought because my uncle (owner) now prefers A/T than M/T and now he use this as his second car. But I love to drive this car in M/T. Superb pick up and excellent fuel economy. This cost us around Rs.2.2 million under permit scheme in 2000 and we ordered with a lot of added features.
  20. Thanks friends for your valuable ideas. Now it is very clear to me and I gave up my idea. Let it be as it is and will sell after some times. Thanks a lot again.
  21. Thanks for the reply. Yes, we used Super Diesel only. Also engine overhaul done by the agent Swidish Trading.
  22. Dear Experts, We have a Volvo S40 1.9 Turbo Diesel (Manual Transmission) imported brand new in year 2000 under permit scheme. After first 30,000km done , it gave some engine problems and agent Swedish Trading replaced a new engine at free of cost under warranty as it was a manufacturing fault. (Heard that agent replaced around 8 engines under warranty scheme due to same problem.) However after using new engine for 70,000km, we had to do overhaul the engine. After 45,000km from the engine overhaul, now we are getting various problems. Now we are looking avenues for fixing a Japanese engine with a gear box and convert it to Automatic transmission. My questions are, (1) Is it possible to fix any good Japanese Engine (Eg. Toyota, Nissan) with Automatic transmission gear box? (2) What are the suitable Japanese engine models? (3) Any disadvantages can hope in future? (4) Can you suggest any good place to get this service? Details of the vehicle are as follows. Make and model: Volovo S40 YOM: Late 2000 Engine Capacity: 1.9 (1870CC) Turbo Diesel Transmission : Manual (5 forward) Unladen Weight: 1325kg Thanks in advance.
  23. I have the catalog of this model but unfortunately nothing mentioned on colours.
