    Thanks Tinyman.. Does This mean Leasing companies will offer same installment rates for unregistered vehicles, same as registered vehicles? and also there won't be 'vat invoices' issuing here after? Is it that VAT is claimed by 'Inland revenue department' one time now, at the time of paying (single)XID when clearing the vehicle from ports?

    It will be one tax replacing VAT, NBT, Cess, Customs Duty and Ports and Airport Development Levy (PAL). Extracts is below Excise (Special Provisions) Duty will be charged in lieu of VAT, NBT, Cess, Customs Duty and Ports and Airport Development Levy (PAL) on certain articles specified under Chapter 87 of the Customs Tariff Guide; New XID is 50% for Hybrids 8703.22.51... So old Tax = 60% New Tax = 50%* (115/100) = 57.5%

    Sorry .. I was under the wrong impression that pro members never get warning points.. what ever they say... ppl are supposed to search a topic and then learn something that they didn't know, by reading the posts sent by pro-members.. Sometimes it is really hard filtering the relevant content, when there are large number of pages filled with the things, 90% totally irrelevant to the topic. VVTI, I don't think any of the sites you have guessed are real competitors... They are far below the standards.. Anyway I strongly believe 'continues evolving is the key for survival' for the WEB world also...

    Visited your site after a long time and just checked this discussions forum.. These types of forums happened to be one of the edges you guys are having, over your competitors. Feeling bit sorry about the site in general after going through the contents of this thread Complete waste of time... You have something called warning points.. right ?

    Please don't try with Joomla, wordpress etc.. Just start developing **from the scratch** using php or asp.net CMS might be easier when developing the site initially. But introducing customizations based on various requirements later might be cumbersome. ( and also debugging ) 2 parallel sites can be operated till the last moment. ( Both sites can connect to the same database for showing purposes till the new site gets active ) You can give the new site for testing for members first. Once making sure everything looks ok , you can replace the existing domain to show the new site.

    It would be very useful to have below search filters . 1. Ability to choose whether the vehicle is auto or manual transmission? ( Currently we have to check each and every description ) 2. Customer need to be able to filter the search results which falls into his budget. 3. Ability to choose vehicles based on Year Of Manufacture 4. Diesel , Petrol or Hybrid ? Currently above things can only be achieved by putting a relevant word on the keyword search. ( But then the search results are not well organized ) Other than the search results, you might make the home page also filled with dynamic data. BTW we see featured vehicles of the day on the home page. There might be customers who would like to pay more to show their vehicle on the home page if it supports such feature. my 2 cents

    Hi Guys, I think it is high time you get the service of some skilled web developers and improve your site functionality.. I acknowledge your search results are now returned lot more faster than the old days... Credit to you.. But you need to improve your search filters.. Please check your main competitor's search filters ( under vehicle category ) hint: **man.lk I suggest you should be having full time software developer, in addition to the IT guys with networking background currently you are having

    A 2011 hybrid car can still be imported at a low price than the current market rates.. ( This is only true for the Hybrid type vehicles after the last tax changes, which was increased only by little margins ) Lowest cost hybrids would be Prius 2nd Gen -NHW20 .. You still can find 2 to 3, 2nd Gen Hybrids per week on Japan Auctions which falls into allowable age limits ( 2 yrs from first registration ) You can import a Honda Insight 2011 well below 40 lacks also... So get the best CIF value and ADD the Tax value.. (You can get it from a clearing agent...) find a one which falls into last lap ( 1.5 - 2 yrs old from its first registration )... Look at the auctions sheets also before buying...

To get an idea about the new tax rates after March 31st 2012 see below for Toyota Premio and Allion... before and after Before Tax Change - 32 lacks After Tax change - 48 Lacks You can buy ones registered/or even unregistered ones , cheaper than that from the local market

    Great BTW when comparing Tyre prices from different places, please keep in mind about the expire date of the tyres also.. Once I bought brand new Yokohama tyre set 265/70/R16 for my jeep - all costs only 40K... From a place near Biyagama.. Returned it to the seller after knowing that it had been manufactured about 11 yrs ago

    Sad to see majority of those government servants who are not eligible for a permit.. GOSL can satisfy only the top layer in government sector, (without giving a considerable salary increase to the government sector as a whole..) Say a person with a permit... 1 million savings in each 5 years ( Most of them of course having bit low salary standards compared to private sector ) But very little number in private sector can hardly get a saving that much... It is very important to know and appreciate the value of the service of the top layer... They might become handy in some critical moments like elections etc.. ( Not all of them, But of course few )

    Heard that with new HSCODES Double cabs will be having different HSCODES than the Dual purpose vans.. ( older days they were the same ) Still don't know abt double cab tax.. But can confirm about the Vans...

    According to a confirmation from a friend who has paid Tax recently for a Diesel Van ( After the budget change) , Commercial Dual purpose vans have a Tax increase by around 4 lacks... ( As informed by Imitiad previously on another thread ) So the biggest impact has been done to Commercial Vans (which are used for School and office transport, transportation of goods and for those used for tourism etc... ) compared to the other catogories( Below 1000CC vehicles which is around 2 lacks and Trucks....)

    Why? a nice rear mounted wheel.. It adds lot to the production cost of the vehicle....

    This is a F/O hardy vehicle.. usuall have a market above L200 4work ( basic model ) and L200 4 Life... Usually latest vehicles are from 2007 YOM... Slightly heavier body than the warrior... Usually imported from UK

    I agree.. I know that one of the cab services in Sri Lanka Nam** ***** are replacing all their Axios with Prius.. I was bit surprised to know that the vehicle is being used 24 hrs per day ( 3 drivers get rotated per vehicle ) They are very positive about the vehicles and the maintenance costs etc... I think worrying days are now over for Hybrids in Sri Lanka....
