  2. Nope, nexus got it right
  3. Yup, its an insight.. here's the original image
  4. Many happy returns of the day mate.
  5. ok fellas, try this .. not that difficult. BTW if Crosswind decides to post I can take this back, no issues.
  6. in fact I got little late to post coz couldn't find a decent pajero pic on net. Had to use one in personal archives. The one in my post isn't exactly the police model/computer body, but the exceed version of it.
  7. can i take a stab if no one coming up with a new trivia?
  8. Negative. If you hadn't sold the truck, you could've be more greener and a tree hugger .. , hybrid owners would've smooched you over that fact too
  9. older or newer, the diesel smoke is less toxic. The older versions were even worse where adding lead was a pre-requisite which is not the case with EFI petrol engines.
  10. thought of brining another side of green story. Hydro plants looks like they're greener but if you consider the overal impact on the eco system, hydro plants are the worst than anything else. The entire eco system around reservoirs has been changed even since we built them, the raining patterns have changed and most reservoirs are now overflowing for an average rain coz sand and soil filled them up. Moral of the story is the ones (including hybrids of course) looks eco friendly/green are not as good as they seem to be. Further, another fact which is contrary to the general beleive, that the diesel vehicles are more greener than petrol vehicles.
  11. literal meaning of Tin body is no cataloy or any after market filling and no re-work has been done on the body. But the issue is, even a badly crashed vehicle can be with a tin body as all panels, doors or even body cuts are being used in accident repairs.
  12. the 2800cc intercooler turbo model is called Intercooler model, not Manthree model. The same model without intercooler turbo is being called, Police model, Computer Body model. 1st Gen of Pajero is called Palathsabha model. Manthree model is the Mitsubishi J36.
  13. yeah I know, even my neighbour is like this now. Had it bought it on last Sunday, he wouldn't have faced the repurcussions of the tax increase. Bugger changed his mind and we checked it on Wednesday to see that was sold on Monday morning itself. Good luck with your hunting
  14. it was gone the following day.
  15. I've inspected a one on last Sunday on behalf of my neighbour, a 2004, KE plates, full option with drivers seat heating. Asking was 1.65!! and bargained for 1.6!. Still my neighbour didn't want to buy it since I've found one accident repair in the car, would've been a good bargain.
  16. many happy returns of the day Mad max. Hope you'll have a good one.
  17. You will have to consult an Automatic gearbox specialist. It could be due to the valve operating the reverse gear is malfunctionning. To eliminate another doubt I have, check whether the vehicle will freely move backwards in N, say in a downhill or when you push it. I've come across a scenario where a broken brake liner causing unusual resistance in the drum when the wheel spinning backwards.
  18. but there are some hybrid owners who believes that this odo meter cannot be changed/tampered.
  19. to add to the list, there were questions asked in the forum about hybrids whether they're of any good in Sri Lankan context and the response from majority of petrolheads were it's a risk to buy used hybrids which may be an unknown devil in this terrain and in local context. Despite all these warnings some people decided on hybrids by only considering the less initial investment (say less than 3.0 mil when it started) and fuel figures. Not even week later, a hybrid owner pops up asking for help for maintenance, I mean how can forum members help when the whole hybrid thing is completely new to local context and there's hardly a local garage takes care of hybrid repairs except the agent, and that post would've got replies with the meaning, I TOLD YOU SO. Further, so called hybrid promotors were up for no good in helping about maintenance coz they themselves don't know anything other than just blindly promoting hybrids. I pretty much doubt the car sales guys with hundreds of hybrids stacked up in their premises are up to this.
  20. don't have a pic right now, it's a cylinder shape led stud comes in different sizes to fit differet types of terminals. Some have an opening/split to support little amount of expansion if required. You can sand/grind it off the excess if it's thicker than the terminal.
  21. D9 means, 406 D9. Calibrating the connector i'm not quite sure, but I guess it can be done. The battery guy in Piliyandala where I bought a battery for the Lancer had these studs of different sizes, types, so I'm assuming a decent battery place might have them in possession.
  22. apparently a family in UK have set a record for the highest mileage per tank or something, it's very efficient. Start-stop is as good as hybrid in city driving I guess, but you have to compromise A/C for that and PSA introduced start-stop to Citroen first.
  23. that would be the last resort, coz this origonal connector can be removed in a fraction of a second if in case of an emergency, say major short circuit which will ignite a fire. Where in a standard connector you will have to find spanners and loosen nuts 'n bolts to remove it. I've seen some 406's changed to standard connector since this connector is not sold alone, but with the wire harness.
  24. as I assumed, this is the typical D9 type terminal connector you got. It's self tightening when you press the lever on to the side of the terminal. If you can insert a stud onto the terminal which will result in thickening the terminal pole by say 1 mm, this will fit tight. I'm not a fan of lead loading or soldering as Sylvi said which might damage the battery cells.
  25. Micro or not, this time he had a point and what he said is acceptable than busting about five six millions of rupees on used junk. Oh shoot, I got it wrong, he aint smart but typing the words came out of his boss's mouth.
