  1. How about E01? Cruise control was helpfull in many trips did on it.
  2. outer tire tread wear can be due to Toe-in of the front tires ( can be corrected easily from wheel alignment) Camber alignments are out (reads + figure and is significant) Camber can be adjusted in some vehicles and some comes with fixed camber position and in/out can be adjusted by the height of the spring of the front mcperson struts. I've seen some cars, specially diesels with increased ride height by adding spacers to the front-coil. If this addition is too much, that can cause a camber out too. first, check the reason as to why the camber is out (this is after eliminating and assuming the alignment/toe-in issue is no more) if it's due to spacers or a frontal collision / bent lower arm (anything which reduces the space between the front subframe and the ball joint) Also inspect/ check whether the camber position can be adjusted. If it's possible (either you car has it originally or someone made a modification which enables to adjust the camber position) and if there aren't anyother issue to worry, instruct the alignment guys to adjust the camber in/out. Since they already confirmed that they cannot do anything, I assume it's a fixed camber yet. if the camber cannot be adjusted and no any other issues to worry (spacers, busted ball joint, bent lower arm or busted lower arm bushes) then proceed with modifying the camber to allow camber adjustments. i know many alignment places carry out such modifications. If you're close to Boralesgamuwa, then try out Harsha Wheel Alignment which is right in-front of Auto KV city alongside Colombo - Piliyandala road.
  3. this is typical noise from brake pads when there are un even wearouts on the disk and the pad, which is very hard to get rid of from my experience.
  4. apparently it's a small lorry which had caught fire. Batta engine couldn't handle the high rev for long time?
  5. I'd say check the radiator cap first.
  6. I've seen in one news telecast a bike rider (obviously with a kid who's not wearing a helmet) says kids are growing fast and they have to change the helmet frequently, therefore, they opt not to equip the kids with helmets. That takes the cake
  7. he says the same thing JD. It's impractical to cops or whoever to check each and every vehicle entering E01
  8. what they have done was average pricing I believe. Earlier they were setting the prices based on the latest price (price of newly cleared vehicle of the same spec) and apply across all items in the stock. Now they have realized the sales got dropped and averaged considering the new prices and old prices, simply. Some more importers will follow this ..
  9. Before the first tax reduction, the car market was bearly performing compared to the way it performed in recent times. It was there but not many people went for brandnew purchases except Indian and other cost effective vehicles. The main stream dealers and car sales were just surviving and some of them were going kaput. We will be back in there or worse as 1. YOM limitation will contribute towards higher auction prices, back then it was 2 1/2 years 2. Fluctuating and high dollar rate will adversely contribute unlike the previous condition which you can't compare 3. There were no issue in financing facilities back then and people could easily go for a facility where as now, lot of banks and finance companies have curtailed giving out such facilities 4. Lot of car sales are finding difficult to even finance the LCs and ordered imports and they will compelled to sell at lower prices to feed the working capital. The moment this happens, a price crash is inevitable. Disclaimer : I don't want any one to disagree or agree on the above veiwpoint as it's completely my personal view on the future of the carmarket of Sri lanka
  10. complete shut of what I may ask.
  11. only god knows whether the prices will ever come down in Sri lanka. However, I have a feeling that the car market will crash due to 1. high dollar:rupee ratio 2. not enough lending facilities to finance new/second hand purchases (lot of companies have curtailed giving out facilities foreseing an economic crisis 3. Unreasonable after tax prices of brand new vehicles and this will affect the second hand prices to go up eventually 4. adverse policies of government in discouraging public from buying/operating vehicles for personal use.
  12. Seems only the auto mode works. Switch or blower controller module faulty.
  13. Not trying to defend Peugeot spare part prices here. The brakes of Coupe is brembo if i'm not mistaken and that explains the high price of this brake pad replacement. Prices of genuine brake pads of sedan / sw variants of 407 vary from 11k to 16k depending on the type of the disk.
  14. do your A pillars have plastic covers? i guess not. Try to find a set of such matching plastic covers and carry out the modification. Try to find a one with a bigger curve than the curve/shape of the A pillar and use the additional space to hook things up. No fiber work is required!
  15. You said O/D is off. Why don't you switch it on (disappear the O/D off light from the dash) and see.
  16. how about set of quality tweeters fixed to the each corners of the dashboard where it meets A pillars?
  17. Does it shifts other gears normally and only does gets stuck in the 3rd ? or no shifts at all and stuck always in 3rd gear? if it's the first, simplest thing to check is the O/D switch and the connectors at the gear lever end and gearbox end. If it's stuck in the 3rd gear always, it's fail safe mode in most auto gearboxes. Time for an expert intervention with detail diagnose
  18. Great weekend project and really nice work and explanations given. I'm sure you will re-do this again with probably more improvements such as an additional mapbox/glove box as additional storage and a better cusionned arm rests for driver and the front passenger . Improvement cycles are hard to avoid when you're a die hard DIY fan
  19. Bought AL4 oil about a month back for the re-building of the autobox of 307. Price for 2litre can was average 7500-8000 and sourced from Laughs, CarMart and a dealer in Panchikawatta. 3X2 cans would suffice for the job including the torque converter.
  20. If the printed circuit board is the only damage, you don't need to change the whole dash board. The meter cluster/ gauge cluster would suffice to replace. Also there are competent electricians who can do a re-wire, taking the damaged printed circuit board out. Can be a DIY if you're good with electrical wiring etc and if the circuit paths are visible in the pcb
  21. There is a filter unit attached to the oil pump inside the gearbox. To change it, you have to take the gearbox out and valve body side opened. The torque converter is attached to the ply wheel by three bolts and can be seen once you take the box out. Yes, to change the oil inside the torque converter, you have to remove the box and then take the converter out.
  22. price? not really, as even the price I quoted of a brand new pump was being told by willys about few years back. where to buy the original repair kit ? usual jeep spare places such as Wasantha motors and Willys. Specially willys had them. There is another (chanoma automobiles or s'thing, a small joint in Panchikawatta) guy who does have a washer kit (sieken) and also if you take the master pump, he will replace the washers of the pistons. Will search through my card holder and provide the numbers. However, I recommend a visit to one of those jeep spare parts places and get it sorted.
  23. you can opt to 1. re-bore it and put a sleve inside and use a original repair kit (seiken) or 2. replace with either a brandnew (which is very expensive, close to 50k) or a used master pump.
  24. my only point is, all these countries can demotivate (by increasing taxes or imposing taxes on multiple ownerships) usage and owning of personal vehicles as their public transportation is better than using personal vehicles. You can plan your travel in advance and also can achieve your travel plan to the nearest second with no hassle of walking, taking risky trishaw rides. If you take a metro/subway you can get-in to the exact building you're planning to go. IF you have a system not up to that level but at least to a close match, YES you CAN demotivate personal vehicles and also them from entering main cities creating traffic jams.
  25. there are couple of used spare parts places you come across as soon as you take a right turn (towards Maligawatta/baseline) from Panchikawatta roundabout. They virtuall have any component / body part of J44/J24/J56
