Hi, BEAMS sign cames on the newer cars like '99. Not too sure whether it implies VVti, but VVTi it is stated on teh cover. Well, consumption, all depends on driving and road conditions. Price, I know well that you could get a decent car below 2M, say around 1.7 - 1.8 G no's. There was one down Kohuwala car sale ex company owned and company maintained white car, these days big cars doesn't move so it's a buyers market, my freind got only 15/75 for HE 6xxx abt 3 months back after advertising for months. Hi, It's a very nice car, I owned a 2.5 Ltr VVTi 6 cylinder. Same engine as per the Klugger. Below are my personal experince , hope it would help. 1. Issues - Not much of any known issues, pretty straitforward. Except very dificult to sell and second hand mkt drops a lot from the original price like most cars above the standard levels. 2.Fuel consumption - 2.5 ltr did about avg 6 -7 km/ p ltr in town and out of town abt 10 - 12. - Standard 2 litr does little better in town. 3.Availability of spares - Mechanical most parts are common, body parts sam many around Nugegoda Wijerama stretch, quotes little higher than average but still could consider reasonable. You can order any parts thro the Agents too. 4.Variations of it? Are all VVTi? VVti -Think not the early cars, some are 4 Cylinder, most 6 Cylinder both 2 ltr versions. 2.5 ltr bit rare, which ever the 6 culider is enjoyable to drive, Look for beams sign on the engine cover. Well, vehicles are fully transferable. If Ae 110 are around that price , that means prices have come down, about 4 months back they were quoting about 1.3 M. Police cant say much except for running on Garage plates, they will give you a copy of the courts proceedings, get a full insurance cover and do a nice plastic plate where cops will take a moment to notice, Good luck

Hi all Hope I could give bit more info , Yes they have a licence from BOI to import vehicles without cutting as second hand parts, so this is not a cut and bud. This license was avery controversial one where there were so many cases in courts by govt as well as the license holder which went on many sinhala & english week end as well as daily papers as far back as 2 years. The difference between MICRO is Micro uses all brand new components where as they use all second hand, most vehicles are brought dismantling the chassis or the lower suspension. They put together and finish with the cosmetics. They have the priviledge of being teh only license operator and technically what happens is at the time of import of chassi and spares they pay the duty as spares, then once you assemble they have to pay the relavant excercis duty (Petrol / deisal etc) and send the application for registration. They are registered under there own brand name and not that of the actual model name, and on teh CR it is clearly mentioned that it is locally assembeled using used body parts. They had a registration issue originally which got sorted out thro' a court decision, as at now not so sure. They don't have montero / prado/ double cab/ SUV of CRV etc type and no performance cars. Sorry No Allion and stuff. Most of the models are basic sunny FB 14, Corolla 110 and small cars and small diesal vans which has big market as well as price sensitive by few laks., Yes they had originally no of big cars like Chaser etc.. I understand there is a big que on a waiting list too. In my opinion only some models will be worth, for an example a 110 may be about 1.3 m. In teh open market too its about 1.4 to 1.6, the only benifit is you get a new no though, but is it worth is the choice of teh buyer. I have found complete cars overseas of identical model and acquiring them is far cheaper than cost of the tinkering , quality out put and time. Can I apply for a permit to import the body. Hi, I have had Honda's from 1992. My recomendations are Fully fully synthetic with the Mobil 1 5w-50 , BP or Shell ultra helix which is 5w-40 But, it is important note that what you have got currently, Re Oil Changes, Stafford is the best, next to that is Laughs, Nawala place be careful I had many instances with my other car where I wanted the Good Oil filter, they charge for the good one and replace with a much cheaper one, which I had to bring tothe notice of the Director, so keep an eye. AT stafford its not that expensive (the filters , service etc) but they have a deal with Caltex so they dont stock other brands, so you need to take your choice of oil.

Hi, Out of 110 and Sylphy, 110 gives you much better fuel economy, comfort and excellent resale value too, Sylphy is nice in it's little luxuries, but on longer trips, say Colombo Ratnapura or Colombo Kandy even you feel the difference in ride let alone within colombo, As you have been already adviced , carina or corona is a much better option around the same budget line, my personal experience and opinion is toyota's are much refined, better ride quality, less maintenance, fuel economy and holds a better value ( I am referring to the generice normal cars, not the high ends which is a different case) I think a decent carina 210 1.5 ltr would be around 1.7 to 2 mil (face lift around 1.8 to 2.0) Corona Premio about the same, if you got the cash inhand try offering bit low and check it as the market is stagnant you may find some luck. Hi, You have got an excellent description from lashank, also bear in mind some cars (including toyota) got a dual speed fans as well, this means when radiator is too hot the fan works faster, then cools down, and work at normal level. When this sensor doesn't work usuallyit tends to heatup, but you never know whther its a rare case of vise versa, my past experinece on AE100 is withing about 10 mins if its morning with a/c on it comes to teh operating level which is like inbetween half and quarter, best is you get the car checked whether your termostat is removed , correct fans are in place, (by any chance someone has fixed a fan that is more cooling as a replacement) etc,, so get it checked what ever it is worth. Hi, you must indicate, whether this is with Air con on or off, if with A/c on there is something wrong which you need to get it checked with a good electrician, also pls check whether your fans are given direct at any point, if the fans are given direct you could experience this too, (if so you need to correct that as fans are not meant to be like that )

Hi Guys This is what happened to me last wesak (2nd day), As my phone battery was low I kept it on da charger and went out, I was driving on Havelock rd towrds Thimbirigasyaya, soon after passing Laughs Super market, there was traffic cop who stopped me, as I asked any particular reason, he asked for my license in a bit of panic mode, I asked which license is it revenue or driving as I wasn't too sure why he stopped me, I was driving slow and there were no traffic on the road, inside my car was very visible (around 11 am, no tints). The cop is a thin medium complexioned tall fellow with a musto...... He asked me whether I know the offence why he stopped me, I said no and would like to know, he said I was speaking on my hand phone, hearing this I really got annoyed and was arguing with him how can he make such alegations when I don't have a phone and I told him that he can check me or the car. At this point he got confussed too, I tried to get his No, but he was having his shirt poket flap open and carrying his mobile set on that pocket so that one could'nt see his no, any way he let me go, by any chance had I had phone in my vehicle I couldn't have won my argument and my fate woul have been different, I came to the conclusion that as most cars do carry a mobile phone and the cops will win over there argument and pretending the intended trouble one has to go through he would settle for a bribe. So guys be careful, also since late you will notice many cops around traffic lights etc., I think their daily ticket target has gone up as govt needs more money and mobile phone is troublesome affair to go to courts and prove, so they can pick a fast buck soon. Hi I have used Civics from ,92 onwards from Grand to EG8 B/new to EK3, my opinion is that EG8 standard (b/n version, is bit under powered compared with Vtec, but both r heavy on fuel, the EK3 normal version is pretty decent and fuel effeciency is very high, the EG8 is more robust and handles better too, Good luck finding a good car.
