  1. Yeah Praveen, exactly the reason is that. She feels like it is just like as a three wheeler
  2. Mas,,,, Many thanks for sharing the infor. I heard mixed views about the fuel consumption of Swift. Some users in our department even are very satisfied about the fuel consumption and others not. Probably, as many pointed out, it may be due to the different driving styles. You know, the main reasons for her rejection seems the safety of the rear seat passengers and the look as well, those are personnal feelings ne. This came up when I took her to a car sale. vitz
  3. Hey, nice one, but it is over budget....
  4. Yes tharidu, technical issues can probably be solved quickly. But, it would be much much difficult to hear complaints daily. So
  5. Many thanks all who replied to my post. Don, I had no idea about this sludge formation, so I will get it checked by a technician. By the way, due to my wife's influence,,,,, i may have to drop the Swift from my wish list .....
  6. Guys, I am searching a car for my small family. My daily route will be peradeniya to kandy. Though I loved to buy a carina, I had to change my idea bit. Now two choices remaining, 1. Unregistered swift (year 2004) (HS15): manual, F/O, ABS: price is 2.0 milion 2. Registered (used 1 yr in srilanka) vios: 2.35 milion I am bit struggeling to take a decion. Experts.... if i consider the comfort, resale value (probaly i may have to sell it if gvt decide to grant permit, i know it will not happen soon!!!!), and more importantly the fuel consumption. one more thing,,,, are there any issues with manual swift!!!. I am asking this beacuse the this unregistered manual one is 2-3 lacks cheaper than the automatic one. many thanks in advance vitz
  7. Sony ericsson k850 is a good buy, it has the HSDPA facility. I am, really satisfied with its performance.
  8. Many thanks. I came across few carinas last week end. As you mentioned, for the face-lift model most of people asked above 2.2. I couldnot find any example properly maintained. Being a 7-8 years old cars, the interior looked pretty detoriorated. I couldnot travel to colombo to have a look on other advertised ones. What I noticed was these cars are higly over-priced irrespective of its condition. Now I am feeling that its better to go for a newer car, something like Vios produced in the year 2004 (or a mazda BJ5P), rather than pursuing the carina dream. thanks chana
  9. Congratulations ripper!!!!! Believe me this will be a wonderful experience of your life. Enjoy it!!!!
  10. Many thanks Kim and Chana, by going through the forum i also found that 1800 version is good in fuel. It is good to know that 1500 manual is also an option. Chana, can you give me idea about the current market price, just give me a range. keep you updated about my hunt vitz
  11. Guys, On my return back to Sri Lanka, I have already started searching a family sedan. I narrowed down my choice to a Carina AT212 (production year 2000 onward) or Corona Primio is also an option for me. Can you guys enlight me with specific considrations on selecting a good example of these cars. Specifically, 1. the best engine capacity in terms of fuel consumption (my daily route will be peradeniya to kandy) 2. Any specific issues relevant for these models to be checked by a good machanic. Many thanks in advance vitz
  12. Many thanks for Max and Dilesh for the mativation for my decision for 1000D. I have always been a fan of Canon (I am not offending Nikon, it is a very good brand). My first P and S (canon A70) brought me thousends of photos during last 5 years. It only troubled me once needing a complete replacement of CCD sensor (company replaced it for free since it was a production failiure).
  13. Guys, good to see this thread. I am also aiming to buy a DSLR, got two options 1. NIKON D40 BLACK 18-55 MM for 399 euro 2. CANON EOS 1000D + 18/55 for 469 euro Is it worty to spend 70 euro more for EOS as far as the photo quality and options considered. Advice of you guys is highly appreciated.
  14. I think this is a wrong information. I didnt notice such thing in any news article.
  15. Guys, After living abroad for nearly 7 years we are planing to return back to SL. We are planning to ship the items we used here also. Got accumulated plenty of stuff during this time and its heart breaking to throw them to the garbage container. Being an electronic freek, I bought some items in duplicate also e.g. 2x hifi My problem is, will our customs impose import tax on these used items!!!!. (I have the reciepts of most of the things bought to my name) If yes....will it limit our pharches from duty-free!! Guys...pardon me for starting a non-automotive thread. But, i am sure there may be some members who can shed some light on this matter.... many thanks in advance
  16. I am with you Dilesh. Karcher is a very reputed brand here in Europe. Originally it is a product from Germany. The brushless version last long, better to find out that version if somebody expecting an extended life time of the equipment. Nilantha...I dont agree with you at all. Normally, chinese motors are known to bust very quickly. regards

    How Is Nissan Fb15

Well said "Don", It would be more valuable to invest the extra 1.2 milion for buying a land. For "ripper"...I think this thread went far beyond a mere Nissan vs Toyota discussion Guys...most of us are bit curious about the fuel consumptions of vehicles. Can somebody initiate a kind of data base with average fuel consumptions (genuine) of vehicals we often come across...

    How Is Nissan Fb15

quite simply that would mean the Toyota simply isn't worth the premium! I think your point is correct, given the main differences of these two cars lie in the fuel consumption and maintainance (issues of sensors and front suspension) Beside that i think the resale value of both stays same By the way.... I noticed plenty of FBs are advertised on AL classifieds......bit strange....

    How Is Nissan Fb15

Guys I was following this thread with lot of interest.... seem to me that the average fuel consumption of FB15 is 8-12 km/l city limits,.,,, 12-14 km/l outstation, also the comfort is not bad... How fuel efficient is this so-called "gold" corolla 121 ? Is it worthwhile to spend extra 1.2 or MORE to buy this damn corolla than go for a decent FB15... To my feeling, the prices of corollas are highly inflated in srilanka by narrow minded people like,,,,, , so people are trying to sell any rubbish with a high price
  24. Guys, Tryout this link for some good music,,,,, www.last.fm
  25. Whatever the technology, only thing we expect is to hit right at the target. Let me wish our brave pilots who dont hesitate to fly at lower altitude and trying their best to get rid of blood thursty praba. Guys, everyday i wake up the the optimistic dream to see the head line "Velupille Prabakaran is killed" vitz
