Well I've Gone And Done It Again!!! Got Another Subaru!!!
MeanGreenZ28 replied to MeanGreenZ28's topic in SUBARU
Engine block has a decent sized hole on top, so needs a new short block H6 can def make nice power! SVX is pretty rare, although I've seen a few every now and thenH6 POWAAARR!!! Yeah, haha. Got two people interested in the bike. Hopefully, I can sell it quick to pay the dude for the car. thanks! We love the 2011 Legacy, so much so that it's already got like 2500miles on it and it's not been even a month! First Oil change is due at 3750 at the dealer. Hence the reason to find a runabout car so we can use it for the day to day stuff and save the Legacy for special occasions. Verdict? I wrote an article for Motormag Lanka and it should be in either the coming issue or the next ... keep an eye out for it and let me know what you'll think! -
Got myself a new project ... '99 Legacy Outback Limited Wagon. I was actually gonna go get a '91 Corolla All Trac Wagon (was thinking of swapping in a turbo MR2 engine and making a wolf in sheep's clothing) but decided not to go ahead with the deal when I got there 'cos it needed more work than I wanted to put into it; and the seller wasn't that honest with its overall condition. My buddy who went with me then told me his nephew had an Outback with a busted engine (ran without oil, doh!) and he'd call and ask if he would sell. Got it for $500, lol. I was gonna trade a Kawasaki KE100 for the Corolla but his nephew didn't want a bike, so I need to sell the bike and pay him back. Wife wasn't the most happy about today's dealings, but when she saw that it was an Outback and not the crappy Corolla I set out to get, she breathed a sigh of relief. hahaa ... pics soon, or go to FB for now.

very nice looking truck there man. Personally, I don't thing the ratios in that gearbox are right for your truck (well, except 4th gear which is 1:1, haha) What axle ratios are you running on the front and back axles? Jack up the truck and rotate the driveshaft and see how many turns of the driveshaft it takes to rotate the tires once ... then see of you can get a better (higher) ratio (example: http://www.eastcoastrover.com/Ringgear.html) If you're not up to getting a new engine/gearbox, it's the next best option. It'll give you better acceleration and offroad performance but in the end, also take away some fuel economy and top speed.

Manual's For Sensor Layout On All Car Models
MeanGreenZ28 replied to kotte mafia's question in General
It's an online resource. You buy a year's subscription per car. I printed out all the important wiring stuff and made a little folder for when I'd need it in the future. -
wow def gets the point across and kudos to those involved with the project

I'd be more interested in seeing more pics of that model (pref with less on), haha

Manual's For Sensor Layout On All Car Models
MeanGreenZ28 replied to kotte mafia's question in General
I've used alldatadiy whenever I have an issue with my cars what I just can't figure out without wiring schematics/etc. Pretty cheap for a subscription. Used to use the Mitchell books (yeah, a whole shelf full of them) at the old job for diagnosing and calculating service costs etc. but the software just made it so much easier when we got it. -
what clued me in was the shape of the doors, McLaren door is triangular at the bottom
-
I don't think that's a RX7 next to the Lotus, looks like a Ginetta Also, final one is not a McLaren F1, that looks like a Mosler
-
thanks guys, it's the Dirty Thirty! ... I just noticed I have two accounts! One with the spaces and one without. .Umm, can a Mod delete the one "with" the spaces? The one without is my old/original account before we came over to the new forum

well our new Legacy 2.5i is rated at 23mpg city/31mpg highway. We get somewhere like 24-25mpg average (mostly city/some highway) and if I'm easy with the throttle, I can get 31-33mpg on the highway at about 65mph. Sorry, US figures...haha

Well ... I Got Myself A 2011 Legacy 2.5I Premium!!!
MeanGreenZ28 replied to Mean Green z28's topic in SUBARU
Hey Chris! That's a beautiful car you've got right there! The wife set eyes on the new Outback and went straight for it but it was just a bit above our budget right now. She's still kinda sad about that. Maybe in a year or so, when she gets out of nursing school, we'll either trade this one in or just go get her the beloved "Outback" so I can play with this ... lol, I would prefer the LGT though. I just joined www.legacyGT.com so maybe I'll see you there if you're there ... I go as "That Guy 2-1" over there. It's really hard to NOT want to modify this car after seeing all the neat stuff people are doing to their's ... haha -

MeanGreenZ28 replied to Mean Green z28's topic in SUBARU
well I think the Accord a built a bit better and has nice soft touch surfacing on the dash/etc. The Legacy is hard plastic (but with a nice matt/grain finish that doesn't make it look cheap) and only the doors are padded. Other than that, I'd say it's on par with the rest. The main edge it's got is the AWD still having almost the same fuel economy of the others and also pricing at or below the others. Honestly, I didn't even consider the New Accord; I think it's ugly, and the New Camry; it's just plain boring. -
dude, just get a shop to make you a straight through barrel with the shell of a normal silencer, and make it look all stock .. lol

Well ... I Got Myself A 2011 Legacy 2.5I Premium!!!
MeanGreenZ28 replied to Mean Green z28's topic in SUBARU
yeah, it's offered only in the GT. The GT has a long waiting list (maybe 3-4 months) and also puts the base price at like $31k ... whereas the base Legacy 2.5i is like $19k. Ours was $23k -

not much .. haha rated at 170 ... going from the 240HP V8 Explorer to this was like WTF!!! We'll get used to being patient drivers I guess. -
If Sri Lanka Recycles plates (owner surrenders the plates to RMV when you sell the car, and the RMV can then eventually give that number to someone else when they register a car) like every other country, this should not happen and the whole thing about having a car with the latest and greatest number would not be there anymore. This would also mean that car prices will stabilize (more on condition and year than plates). Also, when they came up with this system, did they not think (or just run some numbers) to see how many plates they can issue with it?

Daylight Extortion By The Traffice Police
MeanGreenZ28 replied to rangerover's topic in General Automotive
what the heck? that's just ridiculous! -
Well, I know I get lost every now and then but I keep coming back! Sorry I've been away and not contributing much, things have been kinda hard lately and it's been keeping me busy. Biggest/saddest news is that I've had to sell my pride and joy/my reason for being sane/my reason for not giving a shit stupid things, my '98 TransAm. Sold it to someone local who I know is going to take care of it. I didn't realize how perfectly suited to me and how badass it was until I drove a friend's only lightly modified TransAm this past weekend and I was like "what the F is this lame shit?" ... lol, I'm gonna miss it No I have no replacement for it yet and it'll probably be a while before I do get something. At this point in my life, I had to think of family, and making sure we're ready to buy a house/etc. when the time comes was more important than keeping an expensive hobby (even though the car was paid off). Maybe in a year or two, I'll get something again... Till then, I've was given this '94 Kawasaki KE100 trail bike; lol, that I'm gonna fix up to keep myself occupied. Already got it started up and running decent, just need to make it look good now. Peeps on Facebook would've already seen this "beast" ha ha ha Anyways...hope to keep in touch more often now, but knowing me, you'll never know Hope everyone's doing well and keeping the hobby alive!!!

Some local guys I know and used to work with just set a new world record for stock suspension LSX cars at the Import Domestic Shootout this past weekend. Stock suspension is classified as suspension that is bolted on to the original locations and swappable with stock parts. 7.86@177mph !!! http://blogs.gmhightechperformance.com/6727947/miscellaneous/the-new-new-lsx-ss-nitrous-record/index.html Video ... http://www.grs-motorsports.com/noticias/foro/videos/usa/mir/7nov/78.wmv Enjoy!

MeanGreenZ28 replied to seejaylk's topic in General Automotive

I think that car just hit the car behind him! lol

Well I think we started the contract around $1K to start for photography and a video (short and long versions). But we went slightly over that 'cos we chose a couple options and a few extra pics/etc.. I hear he's much more than that now 'cos one of my buddies wanted to get him for his wedding in May and he was kinda surprised to hear the difference between what we paid and what Dimitri quoted him. Either way, he's the best you can get IMHO
