lol, which fool paid over 3million for a 5year old hybrid with 150k on the clock? Did he do a battery check or maybe he thought it runs on water ?
-
resel market is generally not good for used hybrids..

Thermostat valve blocks water flow from engine to radiator until the engine has reached the optimal operating temperature range. It's removal will make the engine operate cooler and less fuel efficient.more relevant for cold countries. Btw did you check the radiator lid for damage, leaks?

sorry to bring an old thread. does anyone have experience of a proper carbon fibre body cover job like this internet photo in Sri Lanka?(workshops, compared to a regular paintjob the costs and weather / scratch resistance etc)
-
could you further eleborate, what was the root causes of this? a few years back,Bosch had a fire issue because of a feature/module used in only high-end vehicles, but i doubt the Nano has any of it.

both are EFI,with Indian made electronics. A Relative bought Replacement engine computer for his Alto and cost about 70k,after rat damaged wiring harness destroyed some internal circuits. Normally they should be protected against short circuits.

Nano is with Bosch electronics,Alto with Denso. So I think Nano will be more robust against electric issues during hard use, probably why it's so accepted by Taxi drivers. Both will be Papadam if crashed, but the Nano looks more rugged and stronger(I could be wrong). But the Alto prices are ridiculously high,so I would stretch a bit more and get an SUVish type(Kwid)

peugeot Reason for poor 2nd hand market of European cars
ajm replied to Rajitha Nawagamuwa's topic in General Automotive
1.because the poor Prius riding thel higannas cant afford even a 5year used European car or engage in their favorite bragging about getting 100kmpl going from nuwara eliya to Colombo even if they could afford one. 2. Original parts are expensive,no counterfeit parts like Japanese ones . (Maintenance of a jap with original parts is also expensive but durable ) 3.most Japanese car drivers are upgrading from and Indian one ,and think it's the best in the world compared to their last Alto(except the lucky few who have a chance to at least drive a friends European car and notice the difference) 4.parts are only available in Colombo area, usually not outstations(similar to Japanese hybrid parts),same for body parts 5.not all repair shops know how to work on them, especially without service manual (or youtube) its difficult to do a simple thing like CV boot change. There is only one way to do a repair, which is usually not so complicated but too much to handle for a mechanic with low motivation -

is it a known brand like Lemfoerder? Otherwise could be a Chinese one sold as German. Chinese are not total scrap,if you plan to sell the car within a few months. Usually I get small parts for my dads car directly from Germany, but sometimes you have to go pick-up at the customs office. Usually no issue,if its for your own use.

yes, your definition of technical specifications was ambiguous for me. 1.Most sensor specifications available for public by the manufacturer don't contain detailed information about application range,it is their intellectual property which will be released only to car manufacturers (customer) 2.even if a certain sensor Reading is within technical specifications range, the Software /Application may be programmed to consider it as an error (eg:if the curves are different) isn't it? I also follow the idea of Davy, by looking in eBay which other partnumbers are categorized together with the not available one,and try to find it. So far no issues with mechanical components.

its with rubber bushes? Then better buy brand new for our road usage. But also the cheap brands go kaput in a couple years,"good" brands last about a couple more longer. How much they said for brand new? now there is also an option to replace only the rubber bushes with polyurethane extra durability bushes, but not sure if Sri Lanka mechanics can do the replacement like original quality.
-
which car is it? not only technical spec, following should also match for the software and calibration to work without confusion . analog sensors for temperature, pressure:linearization curves digital sensors: Frequency,PWM range some Oxygen, lambda sensors are active ones where the sensing is done by creating a nernst voltage by a current pumping circuit. You have to be very careful when changing a model, because different sensors draw different currents and can even damage the ICs in the ECU.

fuel cells seems to be Toyotas preferred solution for their future models. They have lost the electric battle to Renault-Nissan and Tesla. Hybrids are an interim solution which will be discontinued, because while getting more complex and costly, their fuel efficiency is almost reached with advancements in the non-hybrid Gasoline engines. I think at least some more automakers have to bring in some fuel cell vehicles on large scale, for Toyotas plan to succeed.
-
basically I think a Global-standard device need sensors to measure CO2,NOx and Particles apart from Temperature,RPM etc. The parameters for the SW,Calibration probably depends on the linearization Curves of the sensors chosen,Analog or Digital. So you are a programmer?

Sounds like typical blah blah from the Agents to shrug off any responsibility. I doubt if the Engineers who design these vehicles ever consider the harsher Load and environment conditions in Sri lanka compared to japan as design parameters. They are under constant pressure to reduce costs, and therefore design the components so that they are just above these conditions of the typical market the car is intended for,and quite sure they do not consider our Grey recondition market.

Engine Oil Level Reduces And White Smoke After Overhaul
ajm replied to buddhi's question in Mechanical problems
so the real problem is with the valve seals but he also asked to replace the rings? Do you see more smoke when accelerating after some Idling time(Low RPM) or more at High load(High RPM)? -
will the 2017 European diesel version be available in Sri Lanka too?
-
is it allowed to even do that without outward remittance restrictions of The central bank? I agree with you,it's a pity foreign workers who are the largest contributor to SL GDP have no organization level strength and need to organise at least now to put pressure on Government Policies. At least the Blue permit scheme which was cancelled a few years ago should be brought back.
-
Are you sure about this,non-citizen residents are also not allowed to work even in private sector(also no EPF,ETF contributions possible.)? are their some fees involved to give -up SL citizenship (like 2000$ for US) keeping Permanent residence is not an option, because he has to stay a majority of days every year in the EU until he has completed 18years stay or something. Anyway Thanks a lot for your great input.
-
well you missed the point.I didnt say he wants to have free govt health care,of course he will pay for his own and family health problems when/if time comes. But he has strong roots in SL,planning to settle in Sri lanka after getting the EU citizenship. The only reason to apply for EU citizenship is to have for his kids access to higher education in future at EU-citizen fees. He is looking for some reasons(in fact, excuses) to convince the EU authorities why he must keep the Sri lankan citizenship, when applying for the EU citizenship. If its a valid, humane reason the authorities allow him to keep it or apply for dual citizenship in SL later.Otherwise he will lose the EU citizenship, when he applies to reinstate the Sri Lankan citizenship again.
-
problem is that dual citizenship not allowed as per the EU country law,you can have only one unless there is a special reason against losing citizenship of Sri Lanka(education, property inheritance and buying, health services...) . If you aplly for lankan citizenship later, the EU citizenship will be lost. Any law experts here?

Renault=Nissan because its same group since 2000. Either their Norm is stricter than Stafford or the Stafford are taking it easy on the battery test. Many Honda vehicles in US seems to have battery weakness issues which are fortunately repaired by warranty there,if you google will find many reports.
-
A relative of mine has been living in an EU country for some time and is thinking of applying for citizenship /naturalization. Generally he will have to give up Sri Lankan citizenship, unless there is a special reason /privileges that will be lost in Sri Lanka. Possibilities: 1.not able to own land or pay 200% tax(was this changed recently?) 2.government health services will be not free? 3.government education not free ?(at least in Australia seems very expensive for non-citizens) any other ? (voting rights and such do not count since not mandatory for survival ) thanks in advance

75% seems to be the industry Norm for automotive usage, unless the guy at Stafford knows better? http://myrenaultzoe.com/index.php/2017/04/renault-optimizes-the-lifecycle-of-its-electric-vehicle-batteries/
