Does Vvti Engine Has Timing Belt

does anyone knw that vvti engines have timing belt. my mark 2 1g engine does have or havent how can i identify that.. dash board doesnt have t belt indicator

Not sure if its common to all vvti's but my corolla 2003, being a vvti has timing chain. By looking at the engine you probably can check it!

It is specific to the make.. My Mazda had a belt..

You could verify that by removing the tappet cover, perhaps.

About a week back I saw a mark 2 at a garage getting it's timing belt replaced. VVT-i engine as well. So I'm pretty sure it's a belt. You best confirm it with Toyota. And btw, consider buying the belt and razers from Toyota, the car I saw had got it from there and it was cheaper than another well known place in rajagiriya.

Whats the engine, 1GFE?

If the engine is 1GFE its timing belt.

HI Guys

Mine is corolla 122. 1zz-FE engine and the how the timing works is by a chain and not by a belt

so no need to replace it in 100,000 kms

Here we talk about Mark II and 1G engine.

Only 1GFE engine is VVTi of all 1G engines, I guess.So Malaka2's engine is timing belt.
