lol well im cut off dad's cash too...dats y i bought a desktop to replace d outgoin laptop maintainin one in SL is not easy especially since d investmnt is high...manufacturers like dell put out new deals every week so its quite cheap

I got myself an Acer Aspire 1640, intel centrino mobile, was 700 pounds last december..not too bad

MC.. hmm, will check it out....

ya the celeron is one reason i am not looking for too much graphics etc... i dont wanna buy a new PC cos i wotn be using this for anything more than a month or so.. then it'll be my sis using this.. that means msn messenger winamp and maybe a few web-page

so i'll go look for 4 day return place.. thanks

yeah very good quality bt shader mod 3 is not working at it best ( checkout the 5th pic ) that is the problem with 5 graphic cards 5500 / 5700 etc even in my 5700 ultra shader mode 3 is not working properly ( too shiny ) cus nfsmw is 360 graphic game less shine bt very dark..anyway still its enough bt bro post some pics from Doom3 / farcry / fear so we can test the different between these cards..

anyway those 6200 nfsmw pics r not at high graphic mode cus our game arcade boys want the performance at it best n they dnt bother abt the quality so sooner i post some good pics ...

and sad thing is with my graphic driver version i cant play nfsmw.. so after they fixed that bug i post some amazing pics ..........

machan Doom 3 is good to test ur graphics cus i think its not a good game bt farcry is a super game, n its useless to talk abt F.E.A.R i like that game more than any other game...

Ati's were bad in the past long ago. Nvidia lost the crown with 5 series.

i have to admit that i was a Asus FX5800 owner. not bad, but all agree that 9800s were superior.

Anyway i now got a Ati asus 9800pro. thats much better than 5800(yes, its aimed at 59xx and it also got 256bit bus)

Ati's problem was drivers.

nvidia i think (not sure- cause im not upto date with vgas ) got ahead with 7800+ , but again x1900 is here with 48pixel pipes!.

I havent played NFSMW or a good new gametitle, but i cant get the best because this dont support new shader levels. and also only got 256mb ram!

Anyway if anyone buying a vga,

If you say VGA, everyone ask which Geforce,

in srilanka still ati is underestimated (just as AMD,was) so i think a buyer could get a good deal because of ati's low price.

if you're buying a vga look for clock speeds, memo spd, bit rates. new vga's provide new eye candy effects but every new (low end) card cant out perform a good old cards especially in fps.

PS:

bishu,

i think you should try games with Win98 or win2000 with good drivers, because they ease out the graphic load.

Epsi is the dealer for asus, they got most of the higher end vga's. when i contacted them recently they said they got ATi "perfomance" vgas (x800 + as i remember) from Rs. 45 000.

I think they even have brought here the 9800xt's (in mid 2004) that cost i think about Rs. 80 000. or something(im not sure exctly)

(Asus h/w is bit expensive but good.)

so there must be a good market for ATI, too, with the perfomance seekers.

the figures of ATi card seems to justify there prices

That "meant to be played with Nvidia " just marketing some times ATi's betters in those also !

so whats your VGa (best/ ur own) ?

ALSO IF U BUYin VGA;

1. Memory size is rather less important (but 128mb is recomended/atleast). you dont get any perfomance gain by adding big memo, if not using ultra high resolution (way over 1024x 768) its a marketing gimmick.

2. to get the best of a vga normally u should have similar memo size and bit rate.

ex. if youre geting a 256mb vga, u should get a 256bit vga.

3. read reviews about your buyin options, then u'll realize about other similar vga's perfomance.

4. If u do not want best graphic details, but best perfomance(fps) go for a good old high end card, theyre price can be much lower. but get at least a DirectX 9 card, that is GeF 5+ and Radeon 9xxx+ series.

5. PciExpress is also a marketing gimmic, cause i have seen a review that have compared same high end VGA in AGP4x and agp8x, therewas no perfomance difference.

but i think better to get a pciE because now they offer big bus spd.

6. There is no second hand market for vga's in SL . so you have to get a best and hold it still you have another big sum oof money. so its also a good idea to get a newer VGA, cause you will use it for long time.

7. look for the exact version cause sl is full with underclocked stuff-(like LE editions for GF) and normally overpriced.

for reviews try, tomshardware or search google.

hope this will help anyone.

BTW; is there a plce for get eVGA stuff in Srilanka ??? cause they are factory overclocked and got a lifetime warranty.
