    Tyre Time Again

And also on HSBC.. But usually the discounts are less if you are getting it on 0% interest installment plan..
  3. Leyland Bus.. Simply because they are almost everywhere and many people see and ride them than a car..
  4. Well, in my case I exchanged my 17" wheels and the two rear tires (both the front ones were beyond any use) for a new set of 15" wheels for the same price. Had to only bear the cost of new tires... I think your exchange will go along similar lines.. But, why switch from 15" to 14", does not make much of a difference.
  5. Hmmm.. this is worrying.. Some one told me to check at the spot near the Dawson street roundabout. If not, may have to settle for nickel ones..
  6. Hi Guys, I down sized my wheels from 215/45R17 to 195/65R15 last week.. Gave up my old 17" and got a new set of 15" for the same prize but the problem is, couldn't get a good set of nuts for the new wheels.. Now on the hunt for a good set and can any one help with an idea or two as to where I can buy some.. Thanks.
  7. Voted.. Any idea about the current standings?
  8. Mate.. I also pump fuel from this IOC place.. And sometimes from other places such as the Kohuwala ceypetco shed but never seen any mileage reduction when I pump from the IOC... Happen to always pump full tank and measure the kmpl and not how much it costs for a full tank which can vary due to many reasons such as how much is left in the tank etc.. But have seen a slight reduction on the two times I pumped from the IOC shed in Mount Lavinia.. Been avoiding it ever since..
  9. With the latest NFS release, feel it is time to say good bye to my PC gaming as the game developers are out doing my PC capabilities.. and time to move on to a game console.. Out of the popular consoles (X box, PS3, Nintendo Wii, etc)which one can be most recommended as a good buy? What are the places in Colombo where I can buy them... Saw that a PS3 will cost $300 online.. Any idea about the selling prices here....
  10. Carbon was not challenging enough, and being solely an night event did not convey the feeling of actual racing. It took me almost one month of 24x7 (almost) racing to finish MW while carbon took just three days.. Pro street was quite OK difficulty wise but totaling your car at the slightest of mistakes was a pain sometimes.. Lack of cops and no street racing makes the rank of "pro street" lower in my opinion. Just can't wait to try out the latest version. Hopefully, cops are back.. and even more hopefully my laptop will not burn out..
  11. Yeah machan.. Apple kanne panuwo ne..
  12. Back on topic.. Has anyone tried the NFS "Undercover" version.. I have just finished downloading it.. Hope it will bring back the thrills of "Most wanted". It was such a disappointment to drag myself through "carbon" and "pro street" which were total failures in my opinion..
  13. Try Rad**tor Ho*se on Darley Road.. It is very close to the HNB towers. Anyway what's the issue with the radiator?
  14. My god man... These are only the ones you can see from outside.. Imagine what else could be there judging from the way the previous owner has looked after the car...
  15. Hi Rattler.. Let me also congratulate on your choice to buy a P11.. Is this a Camino which you are targeting? Brand new imported P11s are quite rare in SL.. So very much difficult to place an exact price tag. I myself bought my Camino about an year back. It is 97 made but reg in 2000. It was going for 1.3-1.4M those days and I guess the car you mentioned should also be around 1.3M considering the market has depreciated a lil bit and due to the repairs that need to be done by you.. So if the owner is asking for 1.2M it is a really good deal./ As VVTi has rightly pointed out the suspension is stiffer than other cars. This results in excellent handling but also needs to be looked after well.. He has mentioned 80k for all the components.. So far I had to replace both the upper arms and the third link on the passenger side.. Cost me around 30k for those three, but these were A*W prices and could be obtained for lesser from Pi*n**r.. They have the genuine stuff, so no need to worry about buying from Pi*n**r. Since you asked for the things to inspect, there was another thread on the pros and cons of the P11 recently.. Here it is, http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?s...764&st=30... VVTi has given a very comprehensive list of things that are likely to go faulty in a P11.. In addition, please check for the luxury tax receipts cos without them you will not be able to get the transfer done from the RMV... Keep us posted on your progress buddy...
  16. Yes.. driving 40k+ just to get to the location is not that tempting.. Has anyone thought of the Kotahena main street.. (between Kotahena junc and Hettiyawaththa)..? Too close to the harbor I guess and also the stretch may not be long enough.. Anyway better stay off the major roads due to cop trouble.
  17. Hmmmmm.. I was there in person and watched the guy covering the major electronic parts with polythene before applying the oil shower.. So was feeling comfortable about the whole job.. Anyway, will wait till this Friday to see if there is any improvement and if not have to take it back to A*W. Should demand a free motor service...
  18. How about an FB13.. ? A little bit difficult to find one for 6 lakhs, but for about 7 lakhs you may be able to find a really good one.. Maintenance is not difficult and plenty of parts are available since this was a famous model some time back.. Fuel economy is around 11-13kmpl and certainly is a decent enough ride..
  19. Thanks nira.. so did you have to replace the whole motor? I have already checked the terminals, can't see any problem there. Since this occurred immediately after the service feel that it is the motor rather than the battery..
  20. Battery is sealed type and a little over one year old... It has not not given me any issues so far.. And if the battery is weak, it should be affecting all other electronics as well, wouldn't it? Specially, the security system.. The battery was my first suspect as well, and I checked it by not driving the car for two-three days. But no difference to the effort put in by the motor in any way.. And then I checked by starting the car with fans+AC+CD player OFF and ON.. Then again, no difference.. So it makes the starter motor as the only culprit..
  21. Happy birthday and many happy returns of the day..
  22. Hi everyone, I had a full service and an engine wash from A*W about 10 days back.. From the very first time I started the car after the service, felt that the starter motor is a little bit sluggish.. It kind of starts with a whimper and needs more effort to kick in.. Thought that may be the oil they use to wash the engine may have gotten into the motor and it would vaporize after a few days.. But now since it has been 10 days, I am beginning to get worried.. Could they have ruined the motor or or will it be back to normal after some more days...? Appreciate your views and experience as this may have happened to at least some of you after a service.. Are there any "do it yourself" type of steps to rectify the issue without taking it for a professional inspection..? Thanks.
  23. Agreed.. And also since you need to look after it really well.. Don't think there is much of a price difference between a manual and a CVT.
  24. Oops.. how did I miss those.. I always open the P11 in a new tab so that I can enjoy the pics after work.. Must have seen the ones you mentioned but failed to notice that they were Caminos.. My bad.. Sorry.
  25. Well said VVTi.. Can't agree more.. Specially on the handling. The car is amazingly stable and never makes you feel that you are lacking control even at speeds over 100kmph. Even if you try to push down on a P11, you will not be able to budge it unlike other cars which tend to be a little bit bouncy. The ride can be a bit bumpy if the road is uneven, but on a good road it is just pure pleasure. Also agree on the radiator cracking scenario.. Mine also did and had to replace the top from Rad*a*or Hou*e. Should think about a copper one if it fails again, which I hope not. My car is also 1997 model, 1.8L, but with dual air bags and ABS. No sun roof though. As VVTi said, has never quit on me except once when the alternator quit while driving in the middle of the night. Just took about an hour and 6K rupees to fix that issue. Can't agree about the ride being too low, cos the EK3 barely clears the ramp to our garden while mine has quite a bit of clearance. Maybe due to the 17" tires, but still I do not think the ride is lower than most cars in SL. In short,it is a really good car and for me it is very difficult to make up my mind to go for a newer one as in one way or the other a P11 has a special place in the heart..
