  1. Dude, this is the wrong reason to buy a car! If you want people respect you for the car you drive, you're trying to get the respect of the wrong people. If someone does respect you, it should be for your as a human being. Use the money to better your education, or treat your family better. Live by good morals and principles. You'll be respected. As for the car, you dont seem to 'need' a euripean brand. Get a decent reliable Japanese car.. like a corolla
  2. I couldnt agree with you more. If you ask me it's more or less due to ignorance. All it takes is to read some local (non-gov) news or watch some political debates or parliamentary proceedings on youTube to depress the shit out of you about the true state of the country.
  3. Best comment all week!!!
  4. Haiyo... ignore the thread for a day and looks like I missed a lot.
  5. "Sorry, I can't open the bonnet. I'm doing a custom high performance bonnet latch. So I can't open it right now"
  6. I bet this ungrateful asshole would charge his parents for taking care of them one day. Edit: This guy maybe trying to troll us with his automotive facts and opinions, but when he says things like this what actually shows is his personal values and qualities. So even if he leaves his automotive opinions at the door, he shows what kind of gutter-scum he really is. It's probably a good thing that he's no longer in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will NOT miss him.

I hear re-lining is also a possibility on hard to find drums.
  8. Good job! You killed the ugly beast as soon as it raised it's head. I hope this dies soon!.
  9. hahaa!! Good one there!
  10. take a chill pill man.. his car his petrol his money. Maybe he wants to try something different too. In an economy where you c don't have the luxury of buying cars on whims and fancies one must sacrifice the old goat for the new lamb
  11. The Navara reviews, Navara / Hilux / L200 comparisons have been discussed over and over and over. Do a search and you'll get a lot of results.
  12. So what kind of work do you do? Is it some automotive quality control office, where employees only drive the best cars? Being a car designed in europe, it's possible that the heat and vibrations on rough south asian roads was too much for brittle plastic bumper mounts which gave away. And like any other model electrical components can fail due to bad design or even bad workmanship. So I doubt 'having seen a car' qualifies one to give an knowledgeable opinion on the car's maintenance/quality.
  13. ouch.. owned!
  14. There are people who drive days/weeks with one loose/missing lug nut (which effectively is the same), and nothing goes wrong. I'm not saying live qith the car like that, but few days won't hurt as long as you take it easy on the potholes.
  15. Take the final result of this video. "GTI" written in light. You don't need a Golf GTI to do that; you can do the exact same thing riding a bicycle with a torch strapped to your head. And those 100 GoPros. HOW did they add any value to the final result? Changing your handle can be done yourself. I did it myself sometime ago, but sadly I don't remember how I did it. Lemme try look again
  16. I think all these go-pro stuff and you tube 'wannabe-viral' videos are getting old. When Ken Block did his first, it was cool, his second was OK, but then he started beating the same drum over and over again, and then every tom dick and harry thought doing a go-pro stunt vid will bring them to stardom... siighhh
  17. You mean VVTi I presume? Anyway keeping track of your fuel consumption isn't bad. In fact I too have an excel sheet where I track my fuel usage. It helps me plan my personal finances AND lets me know how much I spend on my motorcycles. And more importantly, if I see a sudden spike/drop in fuel consumption I know something's wrong with the bike. At the same time I agree with the concept of moving onto the highes gear as soon as possible and cruising on top-gear. But, as said before, the speed should be determined by your abilities, the vehicles cababilities and the external factors affecting your drive. Not the instantaneous fuel consumption.
  18. if it runs so well, you might as well keep it, right? It'll certainly retain its value more than the B/N motard ur considering. Btw, why don't you share a few pics of your bike?
  19. If Sylvi helped you that would mean you're in touch with him. And if you're in touch with him, he would have most likely mentioned that he's not posting on the forum anymore. Hence it is very likely that he won't see this. And if you really wanted to thank HIM you could give him a call to do so. i'm not questioning or doubting Sylvi's helpfulness, but if you ask me this just looks like a blatant attempt to put sylvi on a pedestal.
  20. Not forgetting the ZERO cc thambili karaththe. Honestly at some point, official's need to start re-thinking the reasoning behind laws. In this case, I'm sure there's no legal requirement for a MoD letter for the DMV to approve such a transfer. The commissioner just cant grow a pair of balls to put a signature on something without having another authority to blame 'just in case'.
  21. less than a year... hence 'few months'.. You just need to do a soft-kick to get the piston in that sweet spot so that it fires up at a single go.
  22. Machang your advice is sound, but you need to take into account the person you're giving it to. He doesn't have the patience to wait a few months to get his proper license, do you think he'll have the patience to put time and effort into reviving a old bike?
