  1. Weren't you going to buy a Mini earlier? I think your aspirations should initially be honing your ability to make up your mind
  2. The Alfa T.Spark engine has variable valve timing, but this? No. And this is some idiot in SL.
  3. Before trying the sticker, try a black trim restorer. They're meant for those unpainted pieces of trim in their natural black colour.
  4. Have you configured it properly? Make sure you have identified the correct serial port, try to assign the port to COM3 or COM4. Also keep parity as none, bit length as 8 and flow control as none. And make sure the baudrate is set to match your device.
  5. Really? Did you download the drivers from Prolific or Aten? Don't let Windows 7 automatically install the drivers through windows update. I use the Vista drivers (which are compatible with Win 7), which come on the CD. Oh and make sure your computer's USB drivers are up to date, including USB 2.0 support if applicable.
  6. stop spewing nonsense.
  7. I use USB-Serial converters in my line of work as well. We have tested on several models, the Prolific based converters are a hit and miss affair (mostly miss, even though we have had surprisingly good results with the kind that comes in a transparent green connector/clear wire combination). What we finally settled for were these. They can be found at Unity Plaza. If not, drop me a PM, I'll get you in touch with our supplier.
  8. Pfft. Here's a much cooler Ute conversion. Also carried out on quite a few cars, though not always 6 wheels.
  9. I honestly dunno how people manage 12.65km/l inside city limits with a Vios. Mine does a little under 10 on my daily commute from Sri Japura to Orion City, and up to 11 when I travel to Rathmalana. Unless "careful" driving means crawling along at 30 holding up traffic behind you and there are buggers on push bikes who leave you behind when pulling away from traffic lights.
  10. Sylvi, if the land line clear when you listen to the handset, yet the ADSL is giving you issues, have SLT check your router/modem. I just had my router replaced by them because my TV and downloads were slow, but the line itself is crystal clear. The fellows said it was an issue with the light blue ZTE modems.
  11. I believe this is an issue with the filters clogging up way before any real damage is done to the engines. I smell a rat though, the kind that resides in the upper echelons of state service,
  12. Thanks guys, @Thanushka I'll come by your area on Thursday or Friday to have a chat about the fiber joint.
  13. Trains have been affected as well, according to this morning's news on Lite. Fifteen or so locomotives ground to a halt, and those engines can pretty much run on any crap.
  14. Iceman's tires were shot by the time the last laps rolled around. Hami controlled the lead all the way through, making sure Kimmy was more than a second behind during the last laps so that DRS would not work for him.
  15. So I was driving down the E01 when the wheel well liner fell on the wheel. I couldn't take a photo yet, but the place where the wheel rubbed against it is worn clear through. It looks like it was fixed incorrectly when the shocks were replaced. Any idea on how much these things cost? Can they even be found in the market?
  16. I heard something similar from a relative. A couple of his friends with new euro diesels have been affected. He said they started smoking, so most probably DPF cleaner kicked in...yo.
  17. It was all tire strategy this time around. By the last 20 laps, all the pitstops were done with. I miss making fun of McLaren's pit stop strategies though :/
  18. yey Hami And I was hoping Grosjean would come in 2nd. Were their roles switched around, Kimmy would have rammed Grosjean where Grosjean gave way to Kimmy. And in other news, Pasta was once again sent to the principal's office.
  19. You can fly planes anywhere now, most restrictions have been lifted. All you need to make sure is that your radio equipment is compliant with the SLTRC regulations. And the cost of maintaining planes is much lower than for ground vehicles i.e. no tires, suspension, drive train to break/wear out.
  20. Yeah, like the others said, do a search. Visit the Toyota Japan site, they have a listing of all the models.
  21. she: iya men, learn to eat properly will you me: no no, thing is i usually eat with my toes but there's a festering blister on my right pinky toe so im using my fingers she: *gets up and declares she's finished with lunch and walks off to the sinks*

  22. Anyone remember when Schumi was driving for Benetton and there was a similar fiasco involving traction control and ABS?
  23. If you're getting a rally RC, get a Tamiya. They're much closer to scale than either HPI or Traxxas. I have the Suzuki Swift which is front wheel drive (just like the JWRC Super 1600) and is a blast to drive with the standard motor and a 6 cell battery.
  24. TRON wannabe?
