There's a diesel Punto (JR-series) in classifieds. That's the only car that I can think of, that will come even close to your main criteria. In fact, it may meet all your criteria except for the doubtful resale value. Not sure about the 19 km/l part but that could come close. Multijet engines are quite efficient.

I second The Annoying Guy's comment. Grande Puntos are just lovely rides. Looks great, rides great and does great on fuel. In fact, I once clocked around 20km/l on a trip to Kandy. Only problems is the duologic gearbox which is kinda difficult to get used to. Better half hated it. Had to get rid of it cos of that.

@MD - Aqua is one of them hybrid monkey-wagons. probably does around 20 or so, since toyota claims its more cheap-ass than the prius.

2001 model didn't come with the campro engine. check again. First Wajas to come with the campro engine were manufactured circa 2006. Campro also needs to be fed Octane 95. Look for a sticker that says "4G18" near the chassis number to confirm. Waja is a heavy car that is not designed for fuel economy. Even on highway driving, it wouldn't give more than 10 to the litre. Any claims to the contrary may be fabrications by someone whos trying to flog off one.

Only trouble it will be on the higher side of your budget ~2.4 million and u will not have many options. If you can live with that (and live with the fact that its made in Thailand), Vios is a good choice.

Is it Campro or 4G18? I had a Campro which did about 8 km/l in the city. As far as I know, 4G18 does a tad bit more. All this is if the car is in good nick. If the car is hacked, expect lower figures.
