  1. replace the CVT fluid and get the lower valve body cleaned by a good mechanic. if this doesnt sort out the issue, you will have to replace the gearbox. dont try to convert this to manul. this is a cumbersome process and you may not find all the spares you may need. so better stik to auto. sell and go for a manual if you really need to go for a manual.
  2. anyway you will soon have to replace your gear box.
  3. yes. there were a quite a few..including one that i drove for few months which had GC plates. it was a late 1998 manual virs. belongs to a friend of mine.
  4. cat is out of the bag!! your car must have been converted from an auto a manual. whoever who did that has left the original steering with the shifter buttons. dude, look at your meter panel carefully, you will most likely see the auto gear position indicator too.
  5. dude, i cannot nderstand why on earth you want to convert this awesme manual machine to an auto? and it not just the gearbox. you need the ecu as well. i doubt you would find all the parts you need. better live with the manual. or you sell that and buy an auto.
  6. not worth. you will have a really hard time in reselling. go for a ck2. and i assume this is a carb model. try to find a efi model with full option. that would be the best deal.
  7. AE 100 is the car if you need economy, low maintenance and appearance
  8. if you are going for a mazda, try to find a special edition which comes with SVT engine and tiptronic gearbox with all 4 discs and many more factory fitted extras. you would defenetely enjoy the ride.
  9. you will find ample body parts for BJ series in colombo or any other major town. i can assure in kandy and kurunegala too.auto gearbox has nothing abnormal. just like any other gearbox you find in any other jap make. simple as that.
  10. agree with you mate.323 or a familia gives you the best value for money imo. its a generally trouble free car. decent looks, good pick up and comfy. defenetly better than n16. no idea about the swift.
  11. this is not a rare item..widely availble in colombo, katunhayake, kandy , kurunegala etc..
  12. Around 7000 rupees.
  13. cleaning the idle up valve would sort out the problem. this is a common issue in ek range.not sure about the ES series.
  14. dude, dont ever buy a 4wd with the intention of converting to 2wd. go and buy a 2wd insted. 4wd cars are very good on grip and in bends at high speeds. may be not as fast as a 2wd on a straight line. 4wd may do a little less on fuel/ may be 1 or 2 kilometers less per litre.
  15. not just astinas and interplays, the scenario applies to all the models from all makes manufactured in that era. so its nothing to do with the brand.

  17. search the forum to understand the difference between 323 and familia. on your second question, its just a misconception among the sri lankans. just imagine the number of newer genaration famila/323 and axelas on the road. apart from that, they are damn good reliable cars just like any other main stream Japanese brand. got a decent ride comfort, good pick up, and decent shape. but these cars are not made for people who are expecting 15 km per a liter of petrol.
  18. happy birthday guys.
  19. nope. you will have to get hold on to a garage bass.
  20. yep. a recondition one. you can find them in delkanda area. US axto dehiwala or few places in kandy. you have to fix and see the functionality. there wont be a guarantee as such but you can always return it if found any leaks.
  21. you can get the tank redone using copper. but best is to replace the radiator.
  22. thats justifiable.
  23. apart from the selonoids, the ek3 vtec version ahs the air filter at the corner of the engine bay and the non vtec version has the air filter on top of the throttle.
  24. nope..the heat gauge stands liitle below the half mark when the engine is at optimum temperature and it could not go up or down while you are running. thats my experience with both multimatic and manual d15b engines. i doubt your thermostat is not working properly or already removed.
  25. i wonder whether there will be anyone like you who gets smashed from left to right.
