  1. Damn! The level of detail on that engine!
  2. And try not to take your car there. Just take a sample hub cap with you. The three hub caps on the car might go missing while you are on the look out for just this one.
  3. One of the first things to consider looking into is whether your brake fluid needs to be changed. Over time, the integrity of the fluid degrades causing various issues such as ineffective braking when warm. Inspect your brake fluid reservoir. If the fluid has turned black/dark, the oil probably needs to be changed.
  4. Wish you a very happy birthday Sampath! Hope you have a good one!
  5. To be honest, water pumps don't randomly fail as most of them (like yours) are belt driven. So as long as the engine is spinning, the water pump keeps pumping. From what I gathered, your car's water pump is driven by the timing belt. Removing it for inspection is quite a bit of work. So may I suggest that you get your cooling system cleaned up before you move ahead. The grime in the system might be clogging one or more lines in the radiator core that end up hindering the cooling efficiency. A good radiator repair shop will do a thorough clean up by first removing the radiator and detaching the top and bottom tanks from the core and then by cleaning each core line to make sure that they are not blocked. Following the clean-up, a flush could be done to ensure that the rest of the circuit is also okay. Since you say that the issue did not resurface again, it actually might be more air trapped inside the system which has now been automatically purged.
  6. Our dear member trinity celebrates his birthday today. Please join me in wishing him a very happy birthday! Hope you have a great one and an awesome year ahead machang! H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y !
  7. Looking absolutely great machan! These little things are what makes a car special, years after ownership and you will never forget the battle you went through with the front grille each time you look at it. The badges have come out really well! Feel bad to see the black on the letters go away now. By the way, surprised that kerosene and thinner didn't work on the tar-like spots. Must have been sitting on the grille for quite some time then.
  8. This could be due to a failing water pump. It might not be pumping properly whereas it could pump when you rev hard. Could the "sand" like stuff be corroded blades of the water pump? On a side note, I hope the correct thermostat was used when it was replaced. The thermostat is temperature specific and using one with a higher temperature rating might cause the car to overheat. If the replacement thermostat had a matching part number, then you do not have to worry about this. What was the coolant being used so far?

    Coolant System Flush

Home? It's really a simple DIY.
  10. The silverish thing on the top? Looks like a rechargable battery.
  11. Looks like these guys are using photos from the forum for their news items as well. Too bad I didn't have a copyright notice on the image. http://www.adaderana.lk/biz/අතුරුගිරිය-පෝරේ-අධිවේගී/
  12. 1. Reverse light issue: Check the fuses first. The reverse light sensor is plugged into the gearbox. It's located right underneath the air filter air duct and where the clutch hydraulic line enters the gearbox. Check the connector to see if it has come loose. You can manually check the reverse light switch by switching on the car and putting it into reverse (engine doesn't have to be running) and using a multi meter to check whether the reverse light switch actually works. If everything else is alright and the switch is not working, then you will have to replace it. I had an issue where the reverse lights would work only intermittently when shifted into reverse. the cause was a small engine oil leak from the cam position sensor housing directly onto the reverse sensor connector. Fixing the oil leak and cleaning up the connector solved my problem. 2. Braking issue: Did you use genuine or aftermarket brake pads? If you used aftermarket cheap ones, you might want to check if the pads are cracked or damaged. Also, if aftermarket pads were used, they might not be sitting properly on the caliper and causing the caliper pins and the shims to be moved under heavy braking, causing noise.
  13. I remember this being discussed on the forum following the incident.
  14. That is awesome! Waiting for the finished thing.
  15. Yeah, saw it. Looks good. Two concerns I had were whethere it doesn't obstruct your field of view and whether there is a way to hide the wires dangling all over the dashboard. I wish there still was a double din conversion kit for the CS. As for the eyelid, you may want to check out ACCOLADE at Ja-Ela. They manufacture and export all over the world and I remember them having a CS specific eyelid (amongst their vast array of other stuff for the CS).
  16. The seat belt needs to be worn regardless of whether there is a sensor or not. The primary reason for having the seatbelt is to keep the driver and passengers on the seats and to deploy the airbags directly at them (if available). If seatbelts are not used, it's possible that the occupants are thrown all over the car and are injured/killed in the process (maybe even injured by the airbag itself). Some models of the CS came with pre-tensioners for the seatbelts which are equipped with the sensor for the seat belt indicator. As far as I know, the brand new CS imports does not have pre-tensioners for seatbelts (and therefore no indicator). What the pre-tensioner does is, it tensions the seat belt upon impact so that the occupants are pressed to their seats before the airbags are deployed. I'm guessing that the respective airbag is not deployed if the seatbelt is not worn for models that does have pre-tensioners. But for the rest, they work based on the G sensor's signal only, so all airbags are deployed upon collision.
  17. The ones that were imported brand new doesn't have the seat belt indicator as far as I know. The manual generally has everything, for example I'm sure it has info on how to operate the sun roof and cruise control as well.
  18. Glad I could help! This was one hell of a bargain.
  19. Looking good! Looks almost like my car from the front now.
  20. Oh man, how I'd like to hear how this will sound!
  21. You're comparing a hatchback against a sedan. That right there is one big difference between the two you might want to consider. You know better than us whether you will benefit from a sedan more than you will with a hatchback.
  22. Congratulations machan!
  23. I think you will find more info about this on this thread.
