This actually happened to one of my close friends who is also an automotive engineer. It was at Katunayake a few years back and my friend got furious with the guy at the testing centre for stepping on the gas so hard. There was a thick black cloud of smoke as he stepped on it and made the engine rev all the way upto about 5000RPM. After a very heated up argument and speaking to the manager of the testing centre, the employee accepted that he shouldn't have been so aggressive on the car. Thanks a lot for sharing!

I was wondering how he gets the tailgate to open when that bumper is obstructing it's path. This never came into my mind until you bought it up! What a shame...

I think what Uditha88 wants us to see is that the front of the Cerato resembles the Allion while the rear resembles the Lancer. This is what I think: 1. It's not funny, sad or stupid (so this doesn't belong in this thread) 2. The Cerato looks NOTHING like the Lancer (Lancer fans, back me up here! ) 3. This is not the first time two cars look similar. Haven't you seen the Prius and the Insight? There are several brands that even share the same chassis. Examples: Proton Wira & Lancer CB, Chevrolet Cruze & Suzuki Swift, Mazda Bongo & Nissan Vanette. The roughness you feel is due to overspray. If the painter had covered the other panels properly, this wouldn't have happened. Since it's too late for that now, I guess the only solution you have is to go for a mild cut and polish of the entire car.

Some so called "rust buckets" are actually gems that need some heavy polishing. Without it they look like any other ordinary rock. It's up to the owner to decide whether it's worth the time, the money and the effort. I see you've made the correct decision. Thumbs up and well done!

Welcome to the forum! I'm not entirely sure about the prices now mate. I replaced the clutch in this car about a decade ago when it was with me, and I remember the price being about 5000 or so for both the cluth plate and the pressure plate. Maybe someone who has done a recent clutch repair can give you a more accurate response.

I wish all owners were as honest as the previous owner of Komi's 510. The center console, the Bluebird emblem... looks like a great dude to have bought a car from. Some people just try to wash their hands after selling their car nowadays. Hats off to the previous owner!
