But, IMO a person who maintains his or her car well, is likely to keep the full maintenance records as he / she doesn't have anything to lie about. This goes for the emmisions certificates, revenue licenses, insurance information as well. So rather than you having to go and ask this info from Laughfs people or the agents, a good car owner should be able to provide them in the first place....

AFAIK the solar panel is supposed to drive a few cooling fans to keep the car cool while being parked in heaty environments. It doesn't source power to the battery or run any other major electronics / mechanics in the car. Correct me if i'm wrong

Parak, the company in subject here has set the Sri Lankan flag proudly in many countries and earned millions of foriegn exchnage to the country. The achievemnts they have made are spectacular and using the right language at the right time has definitely helped it. If the people there also selfishly emigrate to colonies and start preaching the country to ride buses and bikes and speak sinhalese all the time, while driving 7 seater SUVs themselves, none of this might have happened.

Cant comment on the reliability of the new one but Agents offer 3 year unlimited milage warrenty. It seems to prove a point i guess. You should be able to get a FL Diesel for 6.5M LKR on permit according to the Motor Mag this month. For the most capable SUV in its class, I feel this is a damn good deal.

Out of a whole 59 vehicles posted on AL today only 1 is a Hybrid... That also is a Prius 3G going for the highest offer, without a price specified... Guess sellers are smart... and no difference between them and kalu kada mudalalis who stock up rice and sugar and milk powder awaiting a price hike...

Dont't know anything about that model though. Just took did an image search on it and have to say that it looks good. And for 2.6M dude you are getting a Major deal for that Diesel. Sure it will be very economical as well, if you are a fan of that... Anyways, if you find more info on it do post here it definitely will be interesting for the Hybrid audience...

Hey Bat, Before anyone can give some useful info you better find out which model they are talking about. The previous model which was launched in 1999 is still marketed in India I heard. There is a new model about I don’t know from which year but it definitely looks better than the previous. Don't have any personal feedback to give on any model but if it’s the older model Diesel I have a friend who owns one in India. He's nowhere near to being a Automotive enthusiast so his opinion from a guy who only wants to go from A to B economically seems to be favoring this car. Last time he was here he bragged how he has not spent anything on the car for the last 22k KM how it does fuel over 15kmpl in the city, how its better equipped than Indian cars etc etc. (felt like throwing him out of my car ) So if any of the above is true and if your needs also fit the above, you have a bloody good deal mate. It would be a lot cheaper than a used Hybrid and will be kicka** economical than any of those as well. However, if you are a motoring buff, let me remind you that this (the older model) was once awarded the worst car of the year award in Top Gear. Being a Diesel it was 1500CC and had only 3 cylinders. Point 1: All People like and will show off which ever way they prefer... If it's just sri lankan people who like to be Bling or show off, a lot of car manufacturers in the would have gone out of business by now... Ferrari, Maybac, Rolls will be nonexistent... Capitalism functions on the principal of people wanting to grow, earn and spend. In your sense Australia must be a communist country... I incidentally work for a Fully Australian owned company. Our Managing Director, who is an Ausie, has a Ferrari 355 amongst few other vehicles... He has built this business from 5 people to a multi-national, He deserves this reward for his achievements and sacrifices, the same way most of deserve out 10 yr old econoboxes. Most of the Directors are hardcore AUDI fans. When we share motoring experiences as car enthusiasts, yes they are astonished to hear that we have to pay 140k AUD to buy an AUDI A6 when they can do for 50k. But none of them has looked at us in ridicule (like u) and only have shown respect and happiness when we upgrade our rides, the way we can. Point 2: According to your 2 month salary theory, even the best business leaders here should only buy cars such as Nissan Sunny B14, Honda EK3, Toyota Corolla AE100 basically 10 -15 years old cars. Will a person ever have a motivation to grow or be ambitious if 15 - 20 years of hard work can only give him a car which was manufactured when the person was schooling? On the same point, achieving a 50k salary itself takes a lot and another lot of effort and sacrifice here. SO what sort of life style improvements do you suggest for this sort of a person? Shift to a so called luxury inter-city bus from a regular bus? (FYI only difference is a name sake A\C as an improvement - you'll have to still stand and go) Point 3: Prices of goods vary from market to market based on various socio-economic factors and in this case it’s not at all the fault of the consumer. As you know a turbo charger is driven from the exhaust gases. Exhaust gas pressure in the turbo charger needs to be built up to a certain level for the turbine to start spinning and start increase the intake air pressure. Larger the turbo, larger this lag is... FQ-400 must be having a pretty large turbo to deliver 400hp with just a 2.3L engine... Am I on the right track stiggy...

IT's the EVO VIII FQ400. There are no 3rd party modifications there. Just the ones done by Mitsubishi themselves...

I really had to face those frustrating situations. And This morning again I saw a white Prius driving down Maharagama - Dehiwala road at 30 - 35km when the road was relatively empty. But being the morning the opposite lane was empty and I was able to overtake with ease... I personally think that this is those Car Sale places give these lame advises to the Prius owners... Don't listen to those car sales men who don’t know anything more than how to show 'Winker Mirrors' and 'Push Start'. Read the article and OMG... If they start practicing these hypermiling techniques here, we will not be able to go anywhere... All of them will have their eyes on the economy meter and the energy display all the time and fully concentrate on how lightly they can press the accelerator so the roads will not be that safe either... Not that we'll be having many fatal crashes at 30kmh Anyway, I don't think that the Prius drivers have studies this hypermiling business to go slow as we observed. Probably a bloke in the Car Sale had asked them to do so and blindly following... Or when they went back to the Sale to ask why isn’t it doing 50km/l the guys must have asked them to always drive at 30...

Yes VVTi, apparently you can drive only 1 - 1.5 miles or so. I guess after that they get down and push the car home...
