  1. Can somebody point what actually went wrong here? small car probably an auto
  2. That's correct Supra. I felt the same even as a passenger of that car. What they have actually done is move the clutch to the engine bay to electronically engage oppose to being near the foot rest for the driver to enagege. It's their way of introducing a cheap automation without compromising fuel efficiency that much. May be it's ok for Indians who drive manuals most of the time.
  3. Yeah. It's 3 cylinder and revs pretty high. Celerio has the engine called K-Next which is a refined version of K10B
  4. I have been in both models. Apart from AMT I don't see such sophistication. It has the same K10 engine which has some refinements. If there is a difference it would be not a world apart. Btw Maruti is the one saying maintenance would be the same may be to attract the mass.
  5. It's not like a conventional auto if you have used for such you will feel the difference. This is an automated manual to be exact. Some of my friends told me gear shifts are not so smooth, jerky and sometimes it doesn't do proper down shift etc. Not to mention in hills vehicle will roll backwards even in D and you have to use hand break to get off. However best way is to have a test drive and see for your self. Not sure about reliability but maintenance cost would be more or less the same as having an Indian Alto.
  6. Haven't been to Ceylon motor show before and think this would be awesome as I always expected to see Agent presense a lot rather car mudalali's. Last time I went for that S*ra*sa Au*o exhibition and it sucked.

    1300 Cc

For normal city driving with 1-2 passengers 1300 is more than enough. If you frequently travel long distance or mountains and still you want to have a 1300 sedan, stick to a manual one. One thing I noticed in most 1300 or below models is that once you put luggage and passengers at rear, pulling power reduction is siginificant than to a 1500 even in flat roads.

  9. Agree. I just wanted to be relative to the two models and nothing else.
  10. Eon is more futuristic than Alto (relatively) and has good interior and options. What we don't know is how reliable the engine is. Had read forums in India that Eon engine is not so smooth so does the gear box. Alto 800 have a refined version of well known F8D engine which is easy to maintain.
  11. We have such vehicle in our home . An Alto 2011 used by my mother in law just to occassionally go to nearby town 6Km away and it's still at 4200Km. Who's gonna believe that when it comes to selling? (Alto btw)
  12. Do all newer cars have these gel mounts?
  13. For small 3 cylinder petrol engines most of the time engine oil would be 10W30 or 15W30.

    Can I Afford A Car?

Well in that case, I suggest you to wait a bit. I had 2 credit cards and cancelled one and I use the other only once a month. For all other transactions I use my debit card. I had a 5 years loan for my Lancer and 2 more years to go. But in my case I have my wife's Alto to use so I let Lancer go. At that time I thought of selling both cars at once and go for a newer ride but second thought was to wait until the loan pays off so risk would be minimal.

    Can I Afford A Car?

Me too think if you really need one going for a brand new Alto would be the safest bet. Even if the car is non Jap, it would be trouble free atleast for 2-3 years. It would be a good first time car as well since those are pretty simple in design. After couple of years with some more savings and experience you can go for a better one. Some years ago I was in the same situation, then bought a 17 year old car, had all sorts of trouble, spent damn good money on repairs etc (no regrets though). But I was single then
  16. You can give a try and see as I never paid much attention to it until I sold the car, As these are Carbs, anyways FC is bit high at least in city traffic (mine being 1500cc). Enhancements might improve long distance figures I suppose.

  18. I had some issue when I gradually ran out with AC gas. However opposite happen to me. AC compressor comes on and rarely cuts off. Sometimes it run continously. After a top up was done, everything came back to normal.
  19. I think he meant the compressor cut off and never comes back ? I felt the same when I read this initially.
  20. My CB2 did around 8-9 KMPL in city limits with AC. Outstation it's about 12 - 13.
