Whats a fun reliable car for around 1.5? Basically a bitxh car. Should be fun and sorta reliable. Other factors don’t matter.
Dont want euros as I’m looking for a non euro for a change.

An EG would be a fun little ride too...only hitch is most of them have gone through a (or bunch of) ricer and has been mucked around with. There are several really good, pristine examples around but owners are not selling them and if they are they ask for top-end money. I thought I saw a proper car head owned one for sale a month or so ago on FB....it was like a brownish-goldish color....

Call me ricer, but I remember around 2004 a green eg8 passed me while I was in the school van. Always had a dream to go to Italy in a boat and buy an “eg8 modified” after coming back in few years. But then the modified scene died down and I sort of drifted towards euros.
I wouldn’t mind a decent bodykit, to remember them glory days. F&F days. Drags.

Get a Kelisa. Better than a Maruti. I had 4 karutis/alto's, so I know. Can get one for about. 1.3M. Dont pay more than 1.4M.

You got that right bro! You can also hear the railgate bell going "tin tin tin" Also it smells like that smell you get after a service! No screens in sight. No sahara flash audio. No auto break. Just you and your thoughts while giving a slight tap to the steering as you hum some nostalgic tune.Slight wind in your chest are through the wind flap. You eat a pol rotti in a small "petti kade" with a plain tea and a piece of Hakuru, while staring at the ol girl waiting for you to drive her away into the starry night. You come up to that hill and you take the gear and clang it in place, while you work away them non power wheels. Some non Instagram model nangi with more than a hanky covering her, will slyly stare at you and give you a shy smile while you pass by and you honk that old school horn giving her a wave. You know you are living a good life with the simple pleasures. Next thing you know, you are wading through a river without you even knowing. Instead of buttons that do stuff for you, you putter about with three pedals and three gear levers(2 for 4×4). Thank you All. Love from the community makes things worth it and life worth living! The car community is a special thing I tell you! Well that reply was longer than intended!

Thank you for the kind words. It really is a pleasure to run these old girls. No screens and tech. Just you and the vehicle. I do not have a full break-down of the cost yet. After the Jeep is completed, I will update the list. We started with 13 Lacks. The purchase price of the Jeep was 8.5 Lacks (After 15 different copies, this was the best price to condition available). The mechanicals cost close to 90K. The AC was 60K. The Canopy /Rear Seats / Full floor carpeting was 65K. The paint/de-rust work and undercarriage was 85K(cheap because of a relative) Front 2 seats was 20K. I will update as I go. Custom Car Tailors and Deens do the best job I think. Deens specially. Pricey, but worth it. Go see their work first though!

Just a quick update. Work is mostly done, but my brother wanted to take her out for few days. Colombo 5 to Kadugannawa, to Ambewela, to Hortain Plains(2 days there) and back to Colombo. Absolutely no issues at all. Except the handbrake cable snapping( passenger pulled it waay too hard off the thing.) Drives/stops/Handles/Tackles with ease. AC is a blast. Yes yes I know. Needs new tires, but the sizing we want is unavailable due to import ban. Plus needs lots more work to finish it. But we were eager to say the least. At Hortain plains.

Prado is bit mushier. Montero has much better performance. Economy will be almost the same. 120 prado looks outdated. Its feeling its age. The Montero is still fresh. And since they stopped making the Montero, you will have the last model (big suv people in SL ,like to remind people if they drive an earlier model.)

Once In a while you do find some(mostly empty return hires). Kandy did have them before. But the crooks protested and harrassed the people. So no more.
