  1. where's the crumple zone? how come that dash board and the steering wheel popped into the passenger compartment that severly?
  2. I think it's better to start your diagnosis from the pre heating system before moving into fuel feed circuit.
  3. yes, D8 executive anyway came with climate control. Uk used D8 non executives too came with climate control and very few of this model running around here.
  4. seems like you want to double check what your mechanic says. Pull out one or two spark plug wires and keep it close to engine housin without touching the wires. Then ask someone to crank the engine. If you get sparks on the wires, distributor does work, if not it's gone. Ask your mechanic to use a test/sample ditributor and see whether the problem gets solved before you buy/spend on a distributor.
  5. I usually go with Lanka DS40 (lose) for old diesel motors and change the filter and oil in every 3000km. Proven and cost effective than using an expensive oil and changing in 5000km intervals.
  6. well worth the deal if all what you stated are in good order.
  7. sounds a retarted position of the distributor since you said it was changed recently. Ask the mechanic to check/re-adjust the distributor position and idle up valve/motor in the throttle body.
  8. subhasinghe motors is one of players among other peugeot spare part dealers such as ideal motors, dharshana motors, imperial motors and euro motors. Located right at the main color lights of armour street.
  9. i have this feeling that the car battery too is dead coz the alarm worked too much. Check whether the battery holds 12v and stat doing what mani and jd advised to do.
  10. from what i can judge by looking at pictures, the clearance looks alright. What's the issue? Does wheel rubs against the inner wheel arch?
  11. study the bonnet frame from the engine side for possible clipping points where plastic knobs used to hold upholstery panel can be inserted. Measure the size require for this by judging from the shape and size of the frame. Get a heat shield material (foil) and set of those knobs, clips i've mentioned. It's a diy job of less than half an hour for you i guess.
  12. GB is right hand driving
  13. sounds a cracked silencer middle barrel or silencer itself close to centre console, since it appeared all of a sudden. Further check the heat shield goes between the silencer and floor of the vehicle.
  14. True don, it'll help to contain the heat inside the engine bay but having heat shield will also help to reduce the temperature of the hood (bonnet lid) and prevent from spoiling the paint from excessive heat plus it'll act as a noise reduction material as well.
  15. find out the model of the new heater meter you installed. Then find a matching temperature probe (temperature sensor) and install it on to the engine and take the input from the new probe. Issue will be sorted out. I assume you've chosen a 24V meter btw.
  16. filling the tank halfway is not the best method to calculate fuel efficiency. Fill her up a full tank, zero the trip meter and run around. Make sure you don't keep the car still with A/C on (say waiting in a car park with A/C on) as it'll impact the MPG/KMPL figure. In the evening or after a day fill it up again a tank full to see how many liters it requires. Divide the figure in trip meter by that number of liters and you'll get how much it ran using one liter. BTW, how do you feel the gear change? does it only changes after engine revs up to a considerable level or it's a smooth shift ? how's the cooling of the A/C system? does it cools fast and cuts off the compressor or compressor engages full time? These are minor things which might affect the fuel consumption considerably.
  17. another competition? poll ? to find the best among the lot ?
  18. its you who can't absorb things or understand what others say. In this same post you accepted that hybrid maintenance aint established yet and it'll take time, all senior members saying is its not the right time for hybrids and Don very well illustrated why. Read those posts, try to absorb those without blindly promoting hybrids. Further don't think that hybrid thread are all yours and you can play chicken on those. Its most of senior members duty to correct misinformation, biased promotion for the betterment of rest of the community, so them and moderators will always try to correct those and avoid misleading others.
  19. do you think the quoted posts were of any help to OP? since you were desperately promoting hybrids I was expecting an equivilent level response in helping OP and was highlighting that. BTW, do you own a hybrid? before advising anyone else to buy ?
  20. use an engine driven water pump, those either runs on diesel or kerosene so will be cost effective. Look at your project plan and decide when you need water (to begin construction) Based on the dependancy and the time you have, decide whether you want to wait for the supply to begin constructions or to use the well until you get the supply.
  21. look mate, you sounds like you know nothing other than hybrids. As they say, too much of anything is good for nothing, so hearing, seeing too much of hybrids makes me agitate them, not that I hate them for what they are. Hybrids will only be a temporary solution until it's being replaced by efficient EV s or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles which only emits H2O which is far superior to hybrids in terms of being eco friendly.
  22. very well said JD and this hero wannabe was completely silent about the mechanical issue the owner came up with and replied to the thread as if he was eagerly waiting for the OP to reply and probably would've kept on checking this thread every 5 minutes time. OP could be lucky or as Peri said he had only seen the tip of the ice berg and got away with it for the time being. Whatever said and done, it's a FACT that mechanical, electrical expertise to maintain/service hybrids is not available locally and no one can deny that FACT, so all who jump into the band wagen now must be with shivering knees on the huge pay off if anything goes wrong, best example is my friend's car which is still with agents.
  23. amen to that. You have to contribute your fair share to any community to earn respect and to dictate your terms if at all, lacking of that could be the reason why these noobs gets bashed by others for jumping in from nowhere, talking crap, promoting popular band wagons and some, yes, jump in to the same band wagon and riding on it while disturbing the entire community. It's common for any community, leave alone this very forum. What disturbed me most was these so called promotors didn't say a "meek" when one victim posted up asking for a help on fixing his 'new' hybrid. p.s :- forgot the bio diesel part. though i've heard these projects, those are far from reality in this land. you don't have to grow it as long as used vege oil and coconut oil is there.. in U.S it's very popular (nevertheless it's cheap) to convert vehicles to bio diesel and use as oil burners.
