I have a 2015 XV (non hybrid), it's a nice vehicle - rugged and versatile, stable ride and never gave a trouble so far. Not sure about X1 but we have an X3 in the family, BMW is usually in a different league than Subaru. Comparatively XVs suspension is a bit rough and the bells and whistles are less. Repairs and maintenance is no problem with the Agent (Senok). If you're looking for luxury features such as leather seats, dual AC etc BMW is a good option. Also sound insulation and air filtering is good in BMW. In the traffic if I forget to turn on internal air circulation, BMW doesn't make any difference, Subaru starts smelling the exhaust of vehicles in front. Subarus are very less and unique on the road, non hybrid comes with spare wheel and moonroof. But the maintenance and repairs on BMW are very costly. While Subarus are reliable long term cars, BMWs start giving issues after 4 or 5 years.

Windows Task Scheduler Does not work
sharma replied to PreseaLover's topic in PC and other Console Games
I use the 'Deluge' bit-torrent client. There is a plugin for that called Scheduler available under 'Preferences' -> 'Plugins'. Enable it and you can do lot of customization on when to start downloading and when to pause, Also you can speed limit at certain time ranges. This is what I'm doing to utilize the off-peak data from SLT. -
Mazda 6 and XV both are equally good. It depends on what excites you most. I have a petrol XV so I'll list the good things. XV Advantages: AWD - Very good handling even in bad weather conditions. Ground clearance - Can go over many obstacles. It's a kind of go anywhere vehicle. Slight off roading is no problem. Handles like a car with such a ground clearance. Feels very stable at high speeds. Roof rails - easy to mount roof racks / cargo carriers. Also possible to attach bicycle rack in the back. Petrol XV comes with moon roof. It's quite fun. I've heard good things about Mazda6 as well. If you're a fan of classy sedans can go that way.

Subaru XV is what I have. Hybrid must be going around 7m mark now. I would say it's worth a look too. Mazda CX-5 is a neat choice. If you think that's bulky or over the budget checkout CX-3 as well.

Took that route just after the heavy rains - end of November. Traveled during 8pm to 10pm in Puttalam-A'pura road. Didn't encounter any elephants and roads were no issue.
-
I would say for this time bear the trouble and do it the old way. Go there and get it done.
-
Yeah non-hybrid ones missing many bells and whistles. It matters only if you care, things like head up display. Just go to the agent and try checking out.
-
Yeah new one. Problem is finding one for sale, especially non-hybrid one. Agents have been telling it'll do 12 but that could be combined (city+outstation) fuel economy. Take it with a grain of salt. Skyactiv ones are good in terms of performance and economy but the agents imported ones are not skyactiv engines. Not sure how Colon*al doing now.

Second hand 2014 Mazda3 may be?
-
If you are not a daily runner, get a non-hybrid vehicle. Mazda Demio, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Vitz/Vios are good choices.

Thanks guys. I'll check your suggestions and let you know of the outcome!

Guys, Looking to replace the horns that came stock in my Subaru XV. Do you have any suggestion for any brand or place? I'm looking at Bosch, have you anyone used their products? How much would it take approximately? I like the sound of F10. One that comes stock sounds like a lady screaming. So I want to get rid of it and put on a manly horn. Thanks!

Buying A Non Mainstream Vehicle In Sri Lanka.
sharma replied to sahanlak's question in Car Buying Information
Genuine parts from agents are a tad more expensive always. Same is true for Honda spares from Stafford. I don't have first hand experience buying spares from Senok yet, so not in a position to comment on that. Subarus are reliable machines. Also being brand new and all it should not be too much of a concern IMHO. -
Buying A Non Mainstream Vehicle In Sri Lanka.
sharma replied to sahanlak's question in Car Buying Information
I bought the petrol XV for a slightly higher price than hybrid, but that was before the permit prices skyrocketed. I was convinced to buy a Mazda3 before changing the mind. I'm a hybrid antagonist so all my choices were petrol ones. As far as I have seen Jehan at Subaru is doing a good job. Every time I visit I see more hybrid XVs than any other Subarus. Mostly they're for regular maintenance but mechanical repairs shouldn't be a any issue. Problems with electrical/electronic parts of the hybrid system is doubtful. Axela is a great car. If you like small sedans go for that. XV is a versatile vehicle. You cannot go wrong with either choice. Considering resale I think Mazda3/Axela is fast moving than XV. You could as well buy a Premio G Superior and be happy with the resale, parts availability and reliability factors. No love for Lancer or ASX? -
Forester through agent falls in that price range I guess. Not sure about the XT version

I thought the god is Morgan Freeman

A stretched out outback isn't it? And the XV style rubber cladding getting on this too. The backside doesn't look proportional to my eyes. Cargo room is going to be very small when there are 7 passengers on board.
-
True that! Would it be possible to achieve that using a sport muffler? So I presume you have an XT?
-
You're welcome. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Rumble is relevant to WRX / BRZ, but not so welcoming in family vehicles like XV, Outback or Forrester. The reasoning I see is that the manufacturers take the performance and the fuel economy more seriously than the acoustics. Still there are mods available to bring back the boxer rumble.
-
No rumble. XV is based on 3rd gen economy 4-cylinder (FB) engine that use equal length headers. Even the performance 4-cylinder engines (FA) are said to be having equal length headers. So probably all the 3rd gen engines are that way. Heard that the 2015 WRX also missing the boxer rumble.

This topic is going to be merged so I answered in the original one.

I have the petrol version of XV. Not a fan of hybrid vehicles so went for a petrol one using a permit I purchased. I would say go for the XV without a second thought of Vezel. You won't regret it. Also the hybrid XV comes with lots of bells and whistles so you might as well like them. (Auto start-stop, touch screen infotainment system, push start, rain sensing wipers etc). In general the ride is very smooth and stable. Really good ground clearance and visibility from the drivers seat. Petrol XV does around 11 to 12 kmpl mostly driving around the city traffic. Hybrid is said to be doing around 14 kmpl, it's comparatively low mainly because it's battery capacity is only about 50% (or less) of what Prius has. It's not a proper hybrid system yet, Also for the AWD don't expect too much in terms of fuel consumption. Regarding the service and maintenance agents here are doing really well. Normal service cost for petrol XV is about 5000/=, for hybrid it must be somewhat higher. If you need I can get the exact figures. Nevertheless this is a unique looking vehicle so it'll stand out. During the peak hours in Dehiwala and Wellawatta I see more Vezels than any other brand of vehicle now. Also Vezel looks half baked mainly due to it's placement of the number plates in the middle of the front grill as well as for the bad finishing at the back you'll see the silencer exposed in a cheap look. Subaru has it's unique feel, safety features and technology. You might as well do some research and decide. Who knows you might become a hardcore subie fan.

Yes you can go up to USD 35000 but the Touareg seems to be more expensive than that. It's around USD ~45k, check this: http://www.vw.com/models/touareg/ Here's the permit price vs tax chart. ( Taxes are slightly increased after last November budget)
