I bought my car insurance from Allianz lanka 2 years ago and never made a claim. Recently I met with an accident and the person who came to inspect approved me around 90% of the total repair cost. (which is fine with me)

Then after few weeks I did the necessary repairs and submitted the invoice to them and after week I'm getting a letter saying my claim is not acceptable and regretfully they have to decline my claim!!

Can they seriously do that ?

Accept a claim first and after you did all the repairs inform they can't pay ??

I was with j********i for 5 years and never had any issues.I thought Allianz is a much better company due to their global exposure but they proved I'm wrong... I regret I left j********i for a bunch of idiots!! (specially Mr Rajasinghe, who sent me the letter and appears to be a senior motor engineer) Don't these people have any common sense ??? I did all my marine insurance and business insurance with them for past 2 years and never made any claims and they are making a big fuss about my Rs12,500 claim!!!

Its not a matter of money!! Its a matter of ethics!!!

For all the people who are considering Allianz... ITS A BIG DON'T FROM ME!! :angry-smiley-048:

Ok...the obvious thing you have left out in your post is the reason for being declined... :mellow:

I hope you have the copy of approved estimate for the repair. If so you can write to Consumer service authority a letter with the copy of you estimate and letter which they refused. They just can't refuse a claim which they approved without any reason.

with my union assurance policy when an accident occurs i report them over the phone and they send me a reference number through SMS and then they come to a place i mention at a time convenient to me, do the inspection and approve an amount and if i am ok with the amount then they credit the money to my account immediately. so far the amounts approved have been slightly more than what it actually costed me to get the repiar done from decent places. i have never been a happier motor insurance customer. the previous poilicy with c******o V*P was no where close when it comes to QoS.

But the OP has missed out a critical point. Why his claim got rejected. There are very legitimate reasons why a claim may get rejected so lets not jump to conclusions too hastily.

Sorry to hear.

Keep safely the copy of the approval given.

Check / write to them and get the confirmation the reason why they are declining.

well if its genuine reason for the decline for ex, the driver was drunk, insurance has lapsed etc thats a different matter.

But, if they are at fault

1. you could complain to the Insurance Ombudsman as mentioned above

2. you could complain to the Consumer Services Authority (things are taken very seriously here)

3. Get a good lawyer to send a letter of demand.

Insurance companies do play these kind of monkey games at times..was there any specific reason written on the letter they sent to you?...They should make a fare justification for the reasons for declining your claim..otherwise you have all your rights to question from them...anyway sorry for the incident mate... :(

Yes, but for a claim of Rs 12 500/= I doubt they will make such a fuss without some reason since the premium itself would be a lot higher than the claim !
