It's not Nissan who recommends BP but A*W probably because they are the importers of BP products. No wonder all Nissan, Maruti owners forced to use BP. If I'm not mistaken Nissan recommends Mobil 1 for GT engines.

There's a small device installed in my car (Nissan), probably by its Japanese owner (I bought it unreg) which got 2 small lights, Filter & Oil. Never had any activity in this device for ages so thought it's not working. But first time when I use Mobil the oil light started blinking after about 4000 kms. It stopped when I changed oil but started again about 4000 kms. Then I changed back to BP & never got any activity again up to 6k kms. that's the max I went without changing oil. I normally change oil every 5k km or within 6 months, which ever is earlier. I don't know how accurate it is & I never came across anything like that but it made me believe BP is better, for my engine at least.

The reason I change to Mobil because it's less expensive & widely available.
