I recently had a look at the new 2011 hyundai Sonata. I was blown away, I wanted to have it.But the problem is they don't bring them down with Diesel engine. I got to know that there are Diesel (R-series Diesel engine which comes in the new Tucson) 2011 Hyundai Sonatas(YF Sonata in Korea) in the Korean market but the agents at Hyundai (PVT)Ltd said they don't import them and that they are flooded with orders till 2012 Feb. Someone please recommend respectable agencies that will import the Diesel YF Sonata within 5 months or so.

You can try importing from the UK, Japan or even Australia,if any of those markets are served with the car

If i may ask, how do you hope to source parts for a car that is not sold outside of its home country? the agents will not carry them. And even if you put in a special order, it would cost you an arm and a leg. If it is a car sold in a country like japan or the UK,u can easily import the parts. But its not the case. So whats your rationale to wanting this particular car?

The diesel sonata has the same body parts as the gasoline. It comes with the R series Diesel engine, same one that comes with the new Tuscon(I checked in Wikipedia). Electronics are same as gasoline. The new Sonata has won World class awards.Every vehicle review site I've visited have made clear that this particular model has got the current Camry & Accord trumped. I luv the way it looks. Beautiful interior.Even ride quality is great. ( i had the privilege of riding in one). "Hyundai & Kia are trying to shake off their bad image". The picture they paint is a very enticing one for me.Sorry if I'm sounding like some fanatic but I would love to buy this particular version because I'm adamant that this model will soon catch on in SL. Besides I must hurry because the government may axe vehicle permits in June.

If it's only sold in Korea then you are going to have a bit of a problem because they drive on the other side of the road.

Maybe life is simple with Hyundai, and the parts are indeed matchable either from a petrol car or the Tucson, but in my experience (a Citroen) it's not as simple as that. For example, I have the EW10J4 engine which is also available on the 406, but there was some engine part (can't remember which) that actually was destined for the 607 (which wasn't offered with the EW10J4)

So you really need to check this in detail; e.g. do the fuel delivery systems (fuel pump, high pressure pump (presuming it's common rail), etc) match the Tucson as well? And BTW I would be very surprised if the wiring / ECUs are the same for petrol/diesel.
