Rav4 - 2002 Model - Is It A Good Buy ?

Hi All,

I'm planning to buy a Toyota Rav4, 2002 model, automatic transmission, L grade. I read through the consumer reviews in Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/rav4/2002/consumer-reviews.html) and many have commented on issues in the ECM and Transmission. Which is very costly if a replacement is needed. Does any one of you have experiences of similar nature?

I don't have experience with the vehicle in a sense as I've not owned one. But had the opportunity of riding on to Amparai and back and it was extremely comfortable. And from what I hear the VVTI engine is quite fuel efficient as well. I have not heard of any problems about this model, and there are plenty in the market so even if problems were to rise they would be relatively cheap to get resolved (due to availability of spares and expertise)

Little or no comments to this thread implies that Rav4s are good. Will keep you guys posted if I comeup with any findings.
