You are having buyer's guilt aren't ya?

You are just trying to convince yourself that you made the right decision to buy that Prius.

In reality this 20kmpl is all bull kakka isn't it... ;)

You just want to compare your figures to ours so you can go to bed happy... ;)

If a Prius buyer is truly that happy, they would not be going around comparing Dicky sizes... :)

Correct me if I am wrong.

well said..

(FYI For those who think this is greek, Sifaan's fuel figures are 10e and 10pi.)

Sifaan may be speaking in Greek, but you're speaking in machine language! :P

I get 10km/g. I have a bullock cart which does Colombo to Galle on 10kg of Kos Atta. I was thinking of adding a fart cannon (a beat barrel obviously!) to fully utilise the 95 octane Kos Atta to gain a little more HP. Will it improve my efficiency?

There are many claims on the mileage by manufacturers, car dealers, importers and users. but my experience has being claims are varying a lot with the actual experience. maybe many factors affect the determination of mileage. i would like to share my experience and welcome others to share theirs

Toyota RAV 4 - 2000cc vvti city 8km/l out 12km/l

Nissan Primera TP12- 2000cc city 6km/l out 12km/l

Toyota Axio 1500cc city 8km/l out 14km/l

Toyota Prius 1800cc city 20km/l out 28km/l

Perodua Viva Elite 1000cc city 12km/l out N/A

Suzuki Swift 1300cc city 10km/l out N/A

Mitsubishi Lancer 1300cc city 12km/l out 15km/l

What about Nissan March Beetle 1300cc?

Actually mate, the tyre/rim size has an effect on fuel efficiency... hence the reason they say never to change the tyre sizes from manufacturer spec.. specially in Auto's though it makes a difference in manual's as well...

Too tired to explain it my way, umm uncle google gave me this link,

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_rim_or_tire_size_change_mileage

it may not be 100% accurate but I'm pretty sure you get the gist.. :)

changing tyre size (as in diameter, not talking of width) is different from changing rims (of course you have to change tyres if you make the rim larger/smaller, but the general idea is to do keep the final tyre diameter as close to original as possible).

changing the tyre size has a bearing on speedo/odo reading ("apparent" efficiency) and does impact the transmission as described.

(however, while car manufacturers are legally required to show "higher" speedo numbers, that is not carried over to the odo)

if the rims are changed, a smaller (and therefore lighter) rim with larger profile tyres should increase fuel efficiency slightly, but would increase rolling resistance so whether there is a net benefit or not is unclear. anyway the cost of the change would not be justified in terms of saving; also will have a negative impact on turning response and look uglier

larger rims should decrease fuel efficiency slightly (unless you went from X" steel to X+1 or X+2 alloys, in which case it should reduce due to being lighter) but on the other hand rolling resistance would decrease, so net effect might be negligible anyway; anyway would give better turning response and appearance - but larger rims and lower profile tyres mean even more cost!

all that is assuming the same kind of tyres are used; variations in tyres (low rolling resistance, performance tyres, whatever) will have an impact as well.
