if it's a HP(higher purchase agreement) it can transfer to a another party but it is a risky thing to do you want permission from the finance company in this case PLC and you need a lawyer to make agreement document with other party.

btw make sure other party can be trusted with this if not there's a chance that you end up with paying the full amount to the finance company or end up in prison maybe broth of them.

A bit OT but just thought of asking this.

I sold a car which I used under open papers. The previous owner had used it for 10 years. The car was 1st reg in 1996, and the last transfer was done in 2001. This was a 1800cc car, and was subject to luxury tax.

The person who bought it from me arranged a lease. Now the leasing company is claiming that there are Rs. 37,500/- luxury tax outstanding, and they are trying to reduce it from my cheque.

Can you please help;

- Can this happen? (can any unpaid tax go unnoticed for 10 years?)

- Why should I pay it?
