Advice Regarding Side Mirror Position

Guys,

One of my friends have a AE 100, which side mirrors are situated in front of the car instead on side of the door like all other ones in this model(this is a Japanese domestic model and i guess it can be only one in SL like this). He's planning to do a full paint job and sell the car. What he want to do know is whether is it worth to remove mirrors in front and fix new mirror set on doors which will cost him around 5K(like all other AE 100 available in SL). SInce he's planning to paint he need to replace this soon, so when painting they can fix the screw holes which mirrors used to be. What you guys think will there be a price difference when side mirrors are in front of the car or on doors? Is it worth to spend extra 5K for this?

It is OK if opt for door mirrors as long as the looks match the car.(Otherwise will look like another Frankenstein job).Make sure the mounting is proper and safe coz door mirrors are vulnerable for side taps especially with bikers.

5K for a cosmetic job is fine.

Of course thats an advantage and looks good too. Thats the reason why we see all new cars are having door mounted mirrors

My father had one of these in early 90s. I think most of them has upgraded in to door mounted mirrors now. That's why you can't see them now.

i think it's ok to do it i mean it will increase the price of the car when selling that car if it's in it current condition maybe buyers will ask to reduce the price who knows. i think it's best to do this upgrade.

btw i have seen a white corolla ae100 and ee106 wagon (elephant back model) with these mirrors.

most of the time nuts and bolts will comes with mirrors but some shady sellers some time remove them and sell them separately and if your friend going for power mirrors tell him to buy the original power mirrors switch with it.

No he's planning to buy manual one, by the way do he have to change anything in his car door to fix these or just can remove current covers in the doors and fixed to same slot

I dont thnk it will increase the price,but it will surely decrease the buyers barganing power <_<

buyer will bargain if this upgrade is done or not that's how it's. the mindset of sl people is not going to change here. if try to sell without this upgrade there is a very high possibility buyers will ask to reduce the price more than it cost to do this upgrade.

The funny thing is this isn't an upgrade at all I mean when did having fender mounted mirrors become an upgrade to door mounted mirrors when both are manual. One might argue it is easier to adjust but you don't need to adjust the mirrors that often (you set them to your preference and leave them). In the good old days I actually preferred the fender mounter mirrors as the blind spot in them was a little better, and you can look at them without with less distraction.

One might argue it is easier to adjust but you don't need to adjust the mirrors that often (you set them to your preference and leave them).

It's ridiculous to think that this will change anything about the price of the car. Changed to the door mounted mirrors of the old wagon sometime back and felt it's easier and more visibility. YMMV.

Fair point. I actually ended up doing this in a previous car of mine simply because I couldn't find a replacement fender mirror so just bought two manual door mirrors and fitted them on.

Thx guys for info. My friend brought a set of mirrors yesterday. What was his point wsa when all other cars in his model have door mirrors and only his one having fendor mirrors, ppl will think its an old model and will try to reduce price, bos ppl do compare cars and there options
